Jefferson House Rental Photos and Description
Beautiful 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Sleeps 6-10, Nearly New, Fully Equipped, Views
HAS IT ALL: This nearly-new vacation getaway has great views of three mountain ranges from its wooded lot, a well-equipped modern kitchen, tasteful decor throughout, and all the entertainment and communication conveniences you could want (e.g., complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, three HDTVs with DVRs, two Blu-Rays, Wii games, iPod cradles, and Sirius/XM radio). And if that isn't enough to keep everybody busy, it also features a large library (books, videos, games, and maps), a regulation horseshoe court, a 150-yard sledding hill, miles of remote roads to explore, Colorado's best fishing areas nearby, and world-class skiing just 55 minutes away.
A SPECIAL PLACE: Located in the extraordinary South Park area of Colorado, this cabin-style home has convenience, class, character...and chance! A chance to see amazing mountain vistas. To explore Colorado's gold rush history. To fish the famous trout waters of the South Platte. To challenge your 4-wheeler to Mosquito and Georgia Passes or your 2-wheeler to Boreas and Guanella Passes. To raft the Arkansas, soak in the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, ski Breck, or hike/bike the Lost Creek Wilderness. All from one special hideaway in the shadows of Indian Mountain.
LAY-BACK OPTIONS: Or, just hang out and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the cabin itself. Relax on the expansive deck with lovely views of the valley below and the Continental Divide in the distance. Or cozy-up on one of the four leather couches in a throw or comforter with a cup of hot chocolate as you watch the snow fall silently on the spruce and pine. Or take-in a summer storm from the rain-proof comfort of the covered patio's rocking chairs.
INTERIOR COMFORT: You'll especially enjoy the tastefully appointed cabin interior. On the upper level you will find two of its three roomy bedrooms, one of its two full baths, an amazing kitchen, a dining area in a windowed alcove, and an open Great Room with vaulted Aspen ceiling and gorgeous views from a wall of windows.
The lower level was custom-built to our unique specifications. It features a spacious Master Suite including a comfy reading area and a generous Master Bath, a media / entertainment room, an office area, and a laundry/utility room. If your party includes older folks or those with disabilities, the lower level provides bed, bath, and entertainment just 1 step above the driveway level.
WOODS AND VIEWS: The home sits on a private, mostly wooded lot above an expansive valley. In addition to 2,050 square feet of living space, the 900 square feet of open deck and covered patio give more than enough room to take-in the fresh mountain air and amazing alpine views.
THE AREA: Located in the Indian Mountain area of South Park in central Colorado, it is near the small and quaint towns of Jefferson, Como, Tarryall, Alma, and Fairplay. A little further out, but still less than an hour's drive (honest), are well-known resort areas like Breckenridge, Buena Vista, and Eleven Mile Reservoir. Finally, the big Front Range cities of Denver and Colorado Springs offer infinite adventures and shopping within a scenic day trip.
FLORA AND FAUNA: Wildlife is plentiful around our private cabin; we have seen deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, big horn sheep, fox, beaver, bobcat, coyote, owl, eagle, hawk, hummingbird, and an occasional small bear. In addition, the fields and Aspen stands surrounding our cabin are adorned with over ten varieties of alpine wildflowers, depending on the season. Children love the cattle and horses frequently crossing the local roads, and there are bison ranches nearby to delight all.
STAR GAZING: You haven't lived if you've never seen the Milky Way from nearly two miles above sea level. Star gazing from our deck is indescribable. Moon and meteors too! We provide binoculars for night or day gazing. And if the evening is cloudy or cool out on the deck, just fire up the self-lighting 30,000 BTU fire bowl with lava rocks!
EXTRAS: The cabin has every modern amenity you might desire, including Wi-Fi, three HDTVs with DVRs, two DVD/Blu-Ray players, Sirius/XM radio, Wii, and more. It was built in 2008 and furnished as our family's home-away-from-home, so no 'rental-style' budget purchases here. We still stay at the house frequently, and we handle the maintenance and improvements ourselves, so it's always in great shape. We've made it perfect for ourselves, so it will be perfect for your family or group as well.
YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL: Whether for world-class skiing or gold-medal fishing, hiking or scenic touring, history or eco-adventure, staying busy or relaxing in serenity, this area has it all. We hope you will come and enjoy it from this special cabin.

About Pete Weaver
My wife and I have lived in Pittsburgh PA our entire lives. In preparation for retirement in late 2013, we purchased this gorgeous cabin just before the market crash in 2008 (timing is everything they say!).
Now that retirement has come, we want to share it with others while we augment our modest retirement income. By the way, we still use our place about one week every month, so it is easy for us to keep it well-maintained. Being handy and having lots of time these days, we do most of the upkeep, repairs, and improvements ourselves. It will be in tip top shape for your arrival.

Why Pete Weaver chose Jefferson
We have both been active in Young Life since our teen years, and spent many summers at Young Life's Christian ranches here in central Colorado. Over the years, we have also enjoyed the high-country while 4-wheeling with our sons and friends. We think of this area as 'God's Big Country.' With the help of our son in Colorado Springs, we looked for a cabin not too far from the Front Range airports, yet near the Arkansas River Valley, the Collegiate Peaks area, and Buena Vista. South Park is that place. It's a truly remarkable area! We love that this alpine basin is wide open to see views of major mountain ranges in all directions from any given location, yet bluffs, rock outcroppings, ridges, and valleys provide perfect locations for serene seclusion. The Indian Mountain area of South Park is near the small towns of Jefferson and Como, and is about 15 miles northeast of Fairplay, the county seat of Park County. Indian Mountain has an active rural HOA with covenants that guarantee a pleasant environment. No firearms or ATVs to overwhelm the natural silence (there is a new shooting range a few miles away for firearm enthusiasts and ATV trails nearby). The South Park area, and Indian Mountain in particular, is simply a perfect setting for your fishing, skiing, site-seeing, 4-wheeling, or relaxing getaway!
Another resident of the area recently described why her family leaves Denver every chance they get to come to her cabin near ours: 'We crave the peace and silence of our retreats to Indian Mountain. They are restorative, transformational, soothing. Nature feeds a very basic human need and we are very blessed to enjoy this little piece of heaven.'
What makes this house unique
After spending three days exploring over thirty available properties in central Colorado, my wife finally smiled from ear-to-ear when she stood on the deck of this lovely new cabin. Framed by rustic log railings, the 400 sq. ft. redwood deck provides beautiful mountain views with ample sitting and eating areas. We had the builder add a custom-designed, stained and stamped concrete patio under the deck, fully rain-proofed from the decking gaps above. You see, we LOVE to stay dry while sitting outside taking-in a summer storm. We bet you will too. So make arrangements soon to enjoy this versatile and comfy getaway. It's very accessible being just under 2 hours from Denver or Colorado Springs, about an hour from Buena Vista, and 55 minutes from Breckenridge.
