Tamara Lupoloff built and planted her farm here in Hakalau. Recently retired from 27 years in the travel industry, she knew this little piece of Hawaii was where she wanted to be. Her planning and hard work has allowed her to share her dream with others, and she enjoys welcoming guests from all over the world to experience the serenity and beauty of Hawaii.

Tamara Lupoloff purchased this cottage in 2005

Tamara loves the tropical weather and ability to grow a wide variety or fruits year round. The view and the neighborhood, with her close proximity to the ocean, make it home.

Tamara custom-built the houses and planted all ten acres just the way she had always dreamed. The views are magnificent. Guests have space to stretch out and get away from it all while enjoying the easy, beautiful drive to all that Hilo, and the Big Island, has to offer.

Forth of July weekend!

  • 5 of 5
Mahalo iā ʻoe for your wonderful hospitality and use of your cottage!

We loved having a place of refuge to start and end our day with total relaxation and serenity, we could not have picked a better place for our weekend travels.

The lilikoi was truly a gift that took two of us back to our small kid days, good for the taste buds and good for the soul.

The banana bread was awesome, it did not last an hour!

Peaceful, beautiful getaway in a picturesque location

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was the perfect getaway for our family, including our preschooler. The cottage itself is wonderful, with beautiful original art, nice furniture, comfortable beds, and an excellent layout, but our favorite part of our stay was the lanai and lawn. We found ourselves enjoying the majority of our meals on the lanai and spending hours playing, exploring, and relaxing in the yard, which has a perfect balance of fruit trees and open space. The views are phenomenal. The drive into Hilo is a relaxing one, too, and well worth the opportunity to stay in this quieter, uncrowded area.

Tamara is a kind and helpful hostess. She was very welcoming and responsive, answered our questions promptly, and gave us great recommendations for restaurants and activities. We enjoyed the fresh-cut flowers, chocolates, coffee, and fruit she had set out in the kitchen for us upon arrival. She even brought us more flowers halfway through our stay.

We look forward to staying here again!

Space more than adequate for two couples. Evenings were relaxing, sitting out on the large covered lanai, listening to the coqui frogs serenade you. Tamara was available if needed.
Easy dive into Hilo, pass stunning coastal and interior scenery.
Hope to return .

Absolutely Fabulous!!!

  • 4 of 5
This cottage was clean, well equipped, well kept, & perfect size for my husband & I to stay in for 2 weeks. The lanai was a beautiful place to sit & relax & listen to all the birds. It is out in the country & surrounded by lush greenery & country sounds such as goats, cows, dogs, & roosters during the early morning hours which we are used to. At night you could hear the coqui frogs, but we put our sound machine on & they weren't a problem for us.

Our hostess was very kind & accommodating. She left us alone unless we needed her. She had a nice fruit basket with home made banana bread, coffee & macadamia nuts awaiting us & frequently gave us fruit out of her yard. All very yummy. She also told us about the farmers market in Hakalau, just a short jaunt away to purchase & try other fruits & visit with the locals, & what sights to see in the area.

We had problems with getting on the internet, our hostess came over & we were using the wrong password. Had problems with it later on again, but then we unplugged the wires on the router, plugged them back in, turned our computer back on, & then it worked again. Sprint cell service wasn't real strong there either, but it still worked. We will tell our friends & family about this great cottage. Ron & Lori Maholo Tamara

This beautiful side of the Big Island, known as the Hamakua Coast, has numerous waterfalls. The famous and beautiful Akaka Falls, a favorite theme of many local musicians, is located 15 minutes away in the quaint town of Honomu, which has places to eat and shop and one of two spectacular and popular zip lines. The other just 10 minutes away. Laupahoehoe point, which is named for the leaf-shaped lava along its beaches, is 15 minutes away and features the train museum and the Back to the 50's cafe. We have two botanical gardens. Hilo is 20 minutes away and Waimea cowboy country, home to the famous Parker Ranch, is just 55 minutes away.
