We are the Crowley family. Moved (escaped) to Vermont 15 years ago from CT. We bought the house as a ski place and as soon as we closed on the property a conversation took place that went something like this: 'Honey, if we have this big beautiful home in Vermont that is twice the size and 1/4 the price of our place in CT. why can't we just move?' So after this not-so carefully well thought out plan was hatched, I of course said: 'You don't have to ask me twice'. We sold our properties in CT and re-invented ourselves (several times, it's a Vermont thing) We own an environmental remediation company that services most of Vermont and parts of New Hampshire. We have an 11 year old that skis most of the time, even when she is supposed to be at school. You would do it too. Our 23 year old is in Alaska and heading for Vail in a couple of months.
Liz Crowley purchased this house in 1999
This home has a unique place in the history of Ludlow. It was built by Eli Ford in 1903. Old Eli was the owner of the general store here in town. As his fortunes grew Eli decided to build a showcase home. He pulled out all the stops and five years later this custom home was complete.
Shuttle to and from the mountain every 20 minutes. If you don't feel like getting the first chair, go back to sleep and you can catch up later! The best restaurant in Vermont is approx. 200 feet away (really). Walk through town, visit the shops and galleries. Send the kids to the pizza place around the corner. We can also offer personalized catering services. Lastly, we will offer a complimentary ride in the groomer with a seasonal rental!
We had a lovely group of guests stay for MLK weekend & they could not get over how beautiful our home was! They kept asking when they arrived "we have this whole house to ourselves?"! They enjoyed the third floor game room every night playing pool; it's so refreshing to have our guests rarely turn on the TV because they are actually interacting with each other!
House was terrific. All beds were made and ready for our very late arrival, owner was extremely helpful in describing home and throughout the weekend with any question or need. The home is located in a great location, near mountain, walk to town or market.
The pics don't totally do home justice. The first floor is a nice mix of cozy and ornate with a surprising functional kitchen. The bedrooms and baths on second floor are great, master shower is a treat with overhead rain head and side jets, our daughters loved it! The third floor is a nice retreat for kids, it is a long way from first floor so you have to go check on little ones.
We were unable to ski do high winds and very cold temps. Thus we spent a ton of time inside. The house accommodated 4 adults and 6 children, ages 4-10, very well. We will def be back.
I (and the rest of my group) had an INCREDIBLE weekend. A large group of friends from work rented this home for a weekend away from the city and we had the best time! The house was perfect for our group and we made some great memories there. Between fielding all our questions, sending us to Jackson Gore, and welcoming us into their home we could not have asked for a better homeowner to help us!
We had a family group of 8 adults and 6 children and this house was perfect! It was convenient to the slopes with perfect morning views of the sunrise on the mountain as well as easy walking distance to the many bars, shops and restaurants Ludlow has to offer. It is a short ride to Okemo's base(5 mins) or you can take the shuttle right from the house. We stayed stayed for 6 nights and I wish we had more time.
The house has many different rooms to get together, including a great mudroom which includes a gas fireplace, bar and tons of room for equipment and jackets. The third floor game room was a great getaway for the kids and this house has tons of room!
Liz couldn't have been nicer to work with and can provide any detail to enhance your stay. I highly recommend this property, you won't be disappointed!
We had a group of 8 adults and 3 young children that were looking for a house convenient to the Okemo ski slopes as well as Ludlow's restaurants and shops. This house was absolutely perfect! We stayed here for three nights, and it satisfied all of our needs.
Pete and Liz (the owners) could not have possibly been more accommodating or helpful in planning our weekend getaway. They provided excellent ski rental and dining recommendations, and their warmth was felt throughout the house.
Situated in the charming Village of Ludlow facing Okemo Mountain, come and spend quality time with your family, fun in the snow for all ages and ski/board Okemo, Vermont's most family friendly mountain. For those non-skiers, there's shopping and antiquing within walking distance.. We can arrange a personal chef to cater for your stay, or just a special dinner. We will offer a grooming ride with a reservation from 12/30 - 1/4.
