Your own private getaway is waiting for you in the heart of Kona's coffee belt. This newly constructed studio ohana has everything you need, including a full kitchen, your own washer and dryer, queen size bed, and its own private entrance. It is beautifully appointed and feels elegant with its high ceilings, exposed beams, and Ohia wood details.
Enjoy the lush tropical foliage and amazing Hawaiian fruits grown right out your front door. The perfect elevation provides sunny days and cooler evenings. Ceiling fans make sure there is always a comfortable breeze.
Just minutes away you can find everything you need, including grocery store, bakery, restaurants, beaches, and some of the island's best snorkeling.
When you come visit the Big Island of Hawaii, come be part of our ohana.
Marci and I(Chuck) moved here in 2007 from Seattle. We fell in love with the people of the Big Island, the laid back lifestyle, and of course the beautiful weather, the beaches, reefs and sea life!
owner/property manager purchased this studio in 2011
We chose this property because of its close in location, to all of the things we really love here!
We love this home because it feels like a beach house and because we saw the opportunity to build this special ohana that we can share with you!
Dear Marci and Chuck,
How can we describe the pleasure we had to enjoy our beautiful studio. Unfortunately and because of a broken wrist we could not stay as long as we have wanted and planned.
We thank you, Marci and Chuck, for your generous and warm welcome. We have travelled quite a lot along the years, but this place is like a paradise, one of the best we have ever known. If not the best.
We might return next year to complete our holidays, we hope so.
Andre and Frederica
Our hosts, Chuck and Marci went above and beyond to welcome us. We arrived late at night and Marci waved us into the driveway with a flashlight, then welcomed us warmly, and gave us a quick tour of our accommodations. There was fresh fruit, coffee and treats awaiting us...very thoughtful after a long flight.
The suite itself is beautifully decorated and island casual. The side yard is perfect for reading, tanning or eating outside. The owners are very generous about sharing fruit from their yard - so delicious! The neighborhood is safe and quiet. Restaurants close by, funky shops, and yes - the dolphins were in the bay a few days while we visited!
We arrived as guests, but left as friends! We'll be back for sure...
We stayed 8 nights recently and enjoyed our stay at Marci's Dream. Marci greeted us and talked about all the wonderful things we could do in the area. The bowl full of fruit was great since we especially enjoy papayas for breakfast. The location was ideal for us -- away from the bustle of the big city, near our favorite beach, Ho'okena, walking distance to a couple of dinner places and a nice neighborhood.
I've had the opportunity to stay in a lot of nice properties and hotels but I must comment that Marci's Dream was the best appointed cottage I've ever seen. Small details in the kitchen (coffee beans, condiments, etc.) , bathrooms (i.e. bandaids, extra washcloths, sunscreen, etc.) and living area made this feel like a place you could live in or stay for a long visit. We tend to read a lot on vacation and the furniture was very comfy. The bowl of fruit was lovely to look at including the largest and best tasting avocado I've ever experienced. Also...it's at a higher elevation than Kona so the weather was cooler and perfect. The ceiling fans were more that adequate to keep us very comfortable both night and day. This side of the islands is very quiet with the occasional crowing rooster for extra island atmosphere. Check out nearby Annies, Patz Pizza and the Bakery at the top of the hill. Thank you Marci and Chuck.
Marci and Chuck very friendly welcomed us at their ohana. In our apartment we found a big bowl full of fresh fruits from their own garden. They also know everything about the island and gave us many useful tips for snorkeling, hiking, great restaurants, and places to visit.
We had a phantastic 16-days holidays at this cozy and very nicely decorated place. It is, as you can see on the pictures, very comfortable, spacious, and has everything you need.
Marci and Chuck even provided for our snorkeling gears!
If we can come back to the Big Island we will love to come back to this place!
What can we say about Marci and Chuck and the accommodation they so generously shared with us?
We gave ourselves a week to explore the south half of the island and Marci and Chuck’s location was perfect for us. Cute, clean, and conveniently situated on a quiet cul de sac on the ground floor of a private house, it is ideal for a couple who wants to explore the area. There were a few places we considered but Chuck’s fast and friendly replies to our queries decided it for us. The location gave us excellent access to Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park. Besides the knowledge provided by exploring the park and its contents it led to a wonderful hike along the coastline cliffs, encountering a herd of wild goats and observing crashing waves that definitely gave us a thrill. We returned to the same area a few times and snorkeled a short distance away at Two Step which was recommended in our guide book and by Marci. A definite highlight was renting a kayak from a friendly group of native Hawaiians and paddling to the Captain Cook monument to snorkel in the clear waters before kayaking back. We took a few trips to explore around the southern coast between Captain Cook and Hilo and really enjoyed the crashing waves at South Point, the most southern point in the United States. Further along route 11 was Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park with the currently active Kilauea. The trip to the volcano traverses vast miles of black volcanic rock and experiencing the changing landscape as nature begins to take root and rebuild itself was awe inspiring. As our trip was in early September just after the hurricane that pounded the southeast side of the island, our excursion provided a firsthand view of the devastation that wind, rain and water can inflict upon the majestic nature on land that took decades to grow. Huge trees were toppled like bowling pins! Snorkeling in the tide pools in Puna was unanimously agreed to be a highlight. There was so much to take in and enjoy it is impossible to commit it all to a short paragraph. Marci and Chuck are welcoming and genuinely warm individuals. They are super friendly and helpful and not only love having guests but are real animal lovers as well. Be aware that your Hawaiian experience at their place will include many sounds of nature and the customary morning greeting by the territorial roosters. Surrender yourself to the experience and ENJOY. We would definitely return!
