Due to its superiority, comfort and detailed attention, am happy to present Mi Playa, the place looks new thanks to a wonderful helpful house keeper who keeps the house and its sorroundings.
Right at the beach Mi Playa is ideal for a small family, small group of friends looking for a beach vacation in a young and remote island of the Galapagos.
You can enjoy and relax an idyllic, self-catering vacation without the hassles of house maintenance or the pressure of a guided tour.
The archipelago has two seasons; the hot-rainy season between december and may. Strong short tropical showers normally during the night, eventually during the day too. Normally after the rain the sun comes out strong again. February, March and April are the hottest moths of the year. The 'Garua' season between june and november are commonly overcast, sometimes islands are covered in a fine mist specially during the early hours of the day, the mist eventually clears up and then sun shines out which can last for days and sometimes weeks. Coolest months of the year will be september, october.
Conditions of the sea will fallow the same pattern of the seasons, during the hot months of the year the winds cease and we have very calm ocean conditions perfect for
traveling between islands. From june to october ocean can be a bit rough making it more difficult to travel between islands.
Touristic activity never stops really and travelers take the choppy waters as adventure, normally having a lot of tales to tell...
The house is right in a small fishing village, very quite all the time. If you want to go out there are a couple of bars around and a salsa place. You can access all places just by walking.
There is no traffic on this town, most people moves around on bikes and also walking. There are cars (normally trucks) that can be used as taxis.
Visit my web page www.galapagosrelax.com there is detailed info about things you can do on Isabela
HOW TO GET HERE
Guest first have to make it to Guayaquil City, from there there are up to 5 daily flights that bring people to Galapagos. Baltra Island is where the main airport of the islands work, from here you could take an internal short flight (30 minutes) to get to Isabela. Round trip ticket is around $ 250.00 per person.
Flights need to be arranged and reserved with time, they are almost always full, specially in high season which is between November and August.
You could also come by speed boat, available daily from Santa Cruz Island at $ 60.00 round trip.
I personally take care of reservations, inquiries and information needed to make things clear until guests are 100% sure of what they want to do. Once on the island, the house keeper welcomes guest either at airport or pier. He takes them to the house and gives them a tour to show the town around.
If required I am available to guide local tours in Isabela, I am certified naturalist guide with vast experience on the islands.
Born in Cuenca, in a city in the ecuadorian andes known as the cultural capital of the country. I have gained experience with american culture first in California and then in New York City where I lived for a few years.
Introduced to the Islands by the people of the Charles Darwin Research Station as a graphic designer back in 1998, one of my duties was to translate research and put it on easy words so the people of the community will understand the fragility of the island ecosystems. In 2005 I became a Certified Naturalist Guide and since then have been working actively as one for various prestigious companies that tour the islands on a weekly basis.
Today together with my partner I attend the guests at Mi Playa, making sure they have a wonderful stay on this precious archipelago. I want to concentrate on exclusivity for small groups to make sure the quality of their visit is never compromised.
Galapagos needs to be paid attention to be fully understood... and that you can ONLY do with small groups of people!
Ximena purchased this townhome in 2011
Isabela was the only island of the archipelago in which I could buy ocean fronted property. My dream was to build a beach front home in which I could spend my free time looking at the ocean. I grew up going to the ocean and as an adult I just could not get away from it.
Galapagos is a young archipelago that gives us the chance to see the very early processes of life taking place, no where but here we understand how life has taken place in the whole planet... I felt the urge to share this with people that could enjoy and understand this privilege.
I spent a week holiday with my two kids in Isabela, Mi Playa was the perfect place to enjoy the island. We had time to relax at the beach and also time to do the tours that are fantastic.
Edgar, the house keeper was very helpful, he took us around to show the town an the main shops where we could buy everything we needed to cook at the house.
House was in perfect conditions, very clean and well kept!
Thanks a lot for this perfect vacation, we will come back!
We loved every second that we were here at this perfect home right on a gorgeous beach. it was truly the best place that we stayed in the Galapagos and very rare to find a house right on the beach in the islands. The wildlife right on the beach were a constant source of enetertainment for our kids. We enjoyed sitting on the deck while they surfed in the waves as happy as can be!! Isabela was our favourite island, so untouched and laid back, really so much better than santa cruz. Everything can be seen here, penguins, seals, tortoises, boobies, it really is great. The harbor lagoon on arrival is spectacular and a great introduction to the galapagos. Edgar was wonderful and so kind and helpful, even with our terrible spanish he was just a joy and so very attentive. He even bought over fresh bananas and pineapple when his friends had them as he knew they were hard to find at the market. The house has everything you need and we cooked all pour meals here and the laundry was a bonus too. You can rent bikes right in the town and explore on your own which is wonderful and guided tours booked right in town too. I highly recommend Mi Playa and hope to return and stay for longer.
Isabela Island is fortunate to have such visionaries such as Ximena. The house in on the beach, impeccably designed architecturally with great thought to the landscape. The interior is very modern and open, with panels of full length windows that look out to the ocean, facing east/west. All the wood furniture was very modern, and seemed to be hand made. Ceiling fans covered all areas. The washrooms were fantastic, with plenty of places to store and to hang things. Photos do not do it justice. Edgar was very helpful with showing us around the first day. He kept the place clean, and checked in from time to time to ensure we were okay. Also most helpful (whilst travelling) were simple things like laundry detergent, dish soap and drinking water being provided. We watched the sunset from our deck every night. We had meals with iguanas and lizards strolling by, pelicans, frigates and boobys flying by. A trip of a lifetime, with hosts who really know how to do it right.
We stayed at Mi Playa for a month so got a real feel for the property, owner and local people. The property is exactly like listed only better. The beach house is probably one of the best you will find on this Island. Ximena and Edgar are hidden treasures who looked after our every need. The house was so well maintained and super clean and the beach is amazing. I would recommend this property to anyone travelling to the Galapagos. Our stay on Isabela Island was the adventure of a lifetime.
Nowhere else did we find the atmosphere offered by Mi Playa. We love the location, walking out of your room and onto the beach is something I've never experienced. The house is very special, as I mentioned, you can literally walk out of your door and onto the sand. There are marine iguanas sprawled everywhere, Boobies and Frigate birds, along with sandpiper-like shorebirds, can be seen from the property daily. This is the place to go to relax on the Galapagos as the title page mentions it!!!
House and services within were just great. Location could not be better: Right at the beach, with this incredible white sand and many natural attractions at walking distance. Two adults and three kids had the experience of our lifetime. The house, its decoration, functionality location are a perfecto kick-start to really feel in heaven for a while.
