We had a great stay at Puako Condo 310. Here are just a few of the reasons that we liked the condo: The suite was immaculate and exactly as it is pictured. We are a family of 4: my mother, my husband our 6 year and me...the space was spacious enough for us. The master is quite large and provided a good space to chill out and read when you need a break from family! The living room was spacious enough, the kitchen a little small, but fine for one person to be cooking at a time. Mornings at the condo are particularly pleasant because it fills with light and the eastward view toward the mountain is quite beautiful. It was great to have a swimming pool, although it felt a bit cool, our daughter thoroughly enjoyed it daily. The building was friendly and had a nice vibe. The resident caretaker and gardener works magic with the grounds and we enjoyed fresh baby bananas, oranges and grapefruit from the property...saw a lot of papaya, but it wasn't ripe yet. The manager was super professional and responsive. She had offered to do a little grocery shop for us before we arrived, which we took her up on and really appreciated it since our flight was delayed and nothing would have been open. There was one minor electrical issue where 2 kitchen outlets blew, leaving the fridge without power. It happened at night, but Mary came over promptly with an extension chord to prevent the food in the fridge from going bad. There was an electrician in the following day to fix the issue.
Location: great if you like the beach. Last year we stayed near Kona and felt that we did too much driving. We paired things down for this trip, with just a few road trips, favoring the beaches nearby: Beach 69, Hapuna, Mauna Kea and Spencer. Evening runs along Puako Beach Drive were fantastic as was heading to the numerous different beach access spots for sunsets. There is a sandy (not super soft but decent)/tide pool beach basically across the street, which was great for snorkeling with our child. My one suggestion is that beach equipment is getting pretty worn out, bring your own snorkel; bikes would be amazing! All in all a great place, so glad we chose it! We would definitely stay again if we go back the Big Island.
Our family of four loved this rental! It was well appointed with everything we needed, well kept, and in a fabulous location. We enjoyed the pool, tide pooling & sea turtles across the street, snorkeling and boogie boarding at beaches just barely down the road, farmers markets in Hawi and Wailea, night sky viewing at Mauna Kea, and meals and drinks on the lanai with a gorgeous view. We tend to avoid condos in favor of more rural house rentals, but Puako is such a sweet and quiet place we loved it. Couldn't recommend this property more. 2 Papayas is really good at what they do.
This condo has a fantastic location, you can hear the ocean, see the sunset and walk to the shore. That was hard to find at this price. There are several fantastic sand beaches close by. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was clean and in good condition. It is a quiet condo and we usually had the pool to ourselves. The room with twin beds was stuffy and the outside light kept the room bright all night. If it weren't for that it would be rated a 5.
My family of 4 loved the condo and had a great stay. We've done VRBO many times in Hawaii, and this condo was the best so far. Very well equipped with amenities including beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, chairs, cooler, ice packs, and blender in the kitchen. It was great! We really liked the neighborhood and location - close to the Puako beaches (where we saw many turtles), as well as Beach 69 and Hapuna. We also enjoyed the Madagascar geckos in the trees. And the personal greeting, cold wash cloths in the fridge, and cold drinks provided, were a really nice touch. It was nice to have 3 bedrooms - our kids enjoyed having their own room. The décor is nice, also. We highly recommend it.
This condo was one of the best we have ever experienced of all we have ever rented on either Hawaii, the Big Island or Maui. It was well decorated, sparkling clean, and looked as if it was newly remodeled. The living area was spacious and airy with access to a Lani with barbecue and eating area. We watched the ocean and it's whales from here as we had breakfast.
The bedrooms were also spacious and well done. The master had access to the Lani. We had a great night's sleep in a nice room with a most comfortable bed. Large soft bath towels were provided for our use as well as a fully equipped kitchen.
There aren't enough superlatives to say how wonderful this condo is and how much we enjoyed every aspect.
And to add to our stay was swimming in the pool plus a short walk of only a few hundred feet to the ocean.
We were amazed at the very reasonable price we paid for such a delightful place. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.
Puako is a quiet, small residential community with ocean access along the three-mile stretch of shoreline. Nearby are the Puako General Store, world-famous Hapuna Beach, numerous resorts with topnotch golf and restaurants. It is the perfect spot for those who wish to get-away-from-it-all, yet have resort amenities nearby.
