NAVONA CAMPO FIORI AMAZING PANORAMIC TERRACE, 4 BR, 3 BA, SITTING RM, DINING RM

Piazza Navona Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Navona Campo Fiori amazing panoramic terrace 4 BA, 3 BA, sitting rm, dining rm

This marvellous panoramic and terraced apartment, called 'The Turtles' Dream', comprises four bedrooms, three bathrooms, an amazing sitting room, a most ample dining room / kitchen, a very ample terrace / roof garden with panoramic views of Rome's sights, a second terrace to relax, and it is located in an authentic historical noble palace, in the heart of old Rome.

It is located in the Campo de' Fiori area, bordering the Piazza Navona quarter, the Jewish quarter, the Pantheon and the Roman Forum. The palace is situated in Piazza Mattei, where you find the famous Turtle fountain, which can be seen from all its windows. It is one of Rome's most world-acclaimed, and surely it is the most charming, visited at all times year-round. There are four copies of it in the US alone.

The apartment is situated at the highest floor (with elevator), in the famous palace 'Palazzo Costaguti', which you can find illustrated in all history / architecture books and websites about Rome. This high vantage point makes the property bright, and it enables excellent views from its stunning panoramic terrace and also from its windows.

The terrace, which is actually a roof garden, is 80 Sq. Mt. large (app. 820 Sq.Ft.), it is endowed with a charming table with chairs, deck chairs and an ample parasol. From it you can have your meals 'al fresco', or sip a glass of wine, while enjoying the spectacular view of most Rome's sights and of old roofs.

The apartment is 210 Sq. Mts. (app. 2,250 Sq. Ft.) large. It is situated at the 3rd European floor (of an old-fashioned palace, consequently it is equal to a 4th European floor and to a 5th American floor). As mentioned it is endowed with *elevator*. The apartment was just perfectly renovated. Each room is wonderful in its own right, for its beautiful tiles, décor, furniture, paintings of old masters. The property is silent, inviting and bright. There is also a charming second terrace with table, perfect for a glass of wine, hobnobbing, or to relax or write emails.

The sitting room is astonishing. It still preserves the original Renaissance (16th century) coffered wooden ceilings, and each of the 168 'lacunars' or coffered frames has a painting of a different species of birds. In the walls there are also finest frescoes of peacocks, interleaved with the intriguing coat of arms of the patrician family. The floors are also spectacular. They are made with original 'graniglia' tiles with beautiful design (unobtainable nowadays), different in the various rooms.

All four double bedrooms (two matrimonial and two twin beds) have a peculiar charm, and from them you enjoy a direct view of the famous fountain in the square below (you can also hear its water gushing if you open the windows).

The dining room is very spacious, and together with the large kitchen it forms one large open-plan space of nearly. 40 Sq. Mt. (420 Sq. Ft.).

The property is equipped with all mod cons to ensure a most pleasant stay: air conditioning in all rooms, heating, internet Wi-Fi, complete kitchen equipment incl. American coffee percolator, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, toaster, orange squeezer, washing machine, clothes dryer.

Notably, you find a booklet, detailed and with many illustrations, photos and maps, with on one hand detailed property instructions, and on the other hand a complete tourist guide of all the restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlors, bistro etc. of the famous location, together with transport guidance, and many other tips.

Upon arrival, guests are always welcomed with a bottle of finest Italian wine and other treats (starters).

Upon request, the most courteous assistant tours gives an orientation tour to the guests in this world-acclaimed location, to you will feel right at home from the very first moment you arrive.

Also the owners, descendants of the same noble family owning the palace since 1578, will welcome you. They are most hospitable and kindest persons.

The photographs and descriptions were well done, but the reality of the historical apartment far exceeded the description. It is spectacular.
Mauro, our contact contact person, was the most accommodating, professional, friendly and knowledgeable person. He is very detail oriented and that made the entire experience, from booking through (regretfully) leaving a marvelous vacation. His skills in these areas was exceeded by his historical knowledge, not only of the palace and environs, but the aspects of re-exploring Rome for us, more fruitful. The palace apartment was amazing and to be able to share it with so many centuries of owners was a treat. The apartment itself was stunning and ideally located as a base of exploring the neighborhoods and the city.
It was a fabulous experience.

Owner's Response: Dear Myles and Susan, you have been wonderful guests and exemplary Rome visitors. We particularly appreciated your interest in knowing yet another historical fact or anecdote, or to discover yet another ice cream parlor or café. Thank you for your generous compliments, which should be truly extended to the owners, a lovely and most hospitable couple. They have greatest care to provide utmost comfort to guests. Also the cleaner does a wonderful work to prepare the property in the short time she has available. We all work as a team, honored and pleased to assist guests. We look forward to your next visit: as they say "Rome, one life is not enough!".

I WANT TO COME BACK!!!!

  • 5 of 5
Yes, the place is amazing. Yes it is beautiful and well appointed. Yes, it's history is amazing, royal and papal. These are all things that make it desirable. It's beautiful decor and Roman luxury are unbeatable but here is what I loved about my Turtle Fountain Dream: this is no tourist spot. Therefore you will experience true Rome but in luxury. The windows open wide and as you walk through the apartment you can see locals running to and fro to work, to play, to dine, to live. The breezes gently push through the windows as you dine at the breakfast bar and you feel as if you are in an outdoor cafe. As you sit on the terrace with a glass of wine you hear the sounds of Rome all around you. A couple with their window open talking softly in Italian about mundane things. Shouts from the children below. The bells chiming from everywhere. Birds chirping from the breathtaking garden rooftops. You can smell honeysuckle and hyacinth drifting on the breeze from the gardens. You have only a few steps for the finest dining in Rome yet you don't see many tourist. This is where the well-to-do locals live. This is Rome. Stay in a hotel, hear the noises of your neighbors using the toilette. Step outside of your hotel and be assaulted by the sidewalk vendors. At the Turtle's Dream you will LIVE Rome!!

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5
This could not have been a better, more wonderful experience. The apartment is simply spectacular. Rarely, if ever, do you find such spacious, well-appointed accommodations in Rome. A true gem! Our host, Morris, could not have been kinder or more helpful. The neighborhood is the ideal place to stay in Rome. Having previously lived in Rome for 2 years, I can tell you with first-hand knowledge of the city that if you want the perfect Roman Holiday and to live La Dolce Vita (at least for a short time) this is the place you want to stay. Given how incredible it is, I'm surprised they don't charge more. It's really that good. Thank you again, Morris, for making us feel like such special guests.

THE PERFECT ROMAN HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5
Rome is my favorite city in the world, so I get there as frequently as I can. I've stayed in hotels and apartments over the years and have greatly enjoyed almost all of them. However, for my most recent trip I really wanted to find a special place. I was asked to show my friend and his family around Rome for a few days so we needed to accommodate 7 people, comfortably. We also needed to be in a great location, able to walk everywhere in the city center but also able to sit down and have a quiet espresso amongst the church bells and delicious smells of the morning and evening (the Rome I fell in love with).
When I initially found this apartment online I reached out to Roman Homes right away. I received a prompt response from Dr. Mauro Abate. As you many know, renting an apartment in a foreign country can be confusing. 100% worth it, but it requires a bit more effort than booking a hotel...usually. This time, it was just as easy. Mauro was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was kind, fair and honest throughout the entire process. He may not have the best taste in soccer teams, but he is a stand up gentleman and I will be bothering him for apartments until the day he retires to the Caribbean.
When our group arrived at the apartment we were blown away. I know this because we each bumped into one another walking through the giant green door when we had all paused to look up and say "wow." I say this will all sincerity; this apartment was more than anything I could have desired. The location, the history, and the old world feel with the modern comforts I was looking for were all there. The bedrooms were large (3 of them overlooks the beautiful piazza and fountain), the bathrooms were large, the appliances were new and the entire apartment was spotless. There is a charming terrace attached to the upstairs bedroom, a family room to watch TV, and a large kitchen that overlooks the fountain below. The neighborhood is beautiful, quiet, and smelled like my grandmother's kitchen (I had 2 of the best dishes I've ever had in Italy no more than 60 meters from the apartment) yet it was a VERY short walk to just about all of the major sites.
In all, it was perfect. My friend and his parents visited other cities on their trip, but all they can talk about is Roma, Roma, Roma. This apartment allowed me to easily and comfortably show them the Rome I fell in love with so that they not only saw the 2,766 years of history, but they felt and tasted it as well.

Owner's Response: Thank you Mike, you've been wonderful guests. We are glad to hear that our apartment was able to instil love for Rome not only in you, a passionate Rome fan (also of its soccer team), but also in the other party members, your friends. We anticipate the pleasure of your next stay: Rome and our apartment will be waiting for you with open arms.

TERRIFIC... WE WILL GO BACK.

  • 5 of 5
We rented this apartment a few days after the renovation touch-ups ended. It was an exciting experience. Everything about this property should be praised. It is elegant and charming, we felt snug at home. It has the right combination of classical and modern furniture. The tiles are beautiful, the views superb, the amenities generously provided by the owner. The staff was most helpful and gave us plenty of guidance. The palace exudes character, the location is magic. It was fun and we enjoyed every minute. We toured all the sights, on foot or within easy reach, and we loved hanging out at the ghetto where you find all kinds of grocers, cafés and restaurants. It was the best place we stayed at in our European tour. We can't wait to go back, this time for a long planned family reunion.

SIMPLY WONDERFUL!

  • 5 of 5
I can't find enough words to praise this property, and how much we enjoyed our stay. It's more beautiful than advertised, and the landlord & property manager are most hospitable. When we booked, we had some apprehensions that the historical palace ambience could be somewhat formal, while we felt at home from the very first minute. And what a home! The palace is most intriguing and with great character, the apartment was absolutely wonderful. Everything is just perfect, better than advertised. The floors are spectacular, and so is the ceiling in the sitting room. The kids counted one by one all the 100s species of birds in the coffered ceiling, and they did drawings too. The attention to detail is superb. The equipment and the kitchen are brand new. The views from the windows are intriguing, and we loved watching people visiting the fountain below, which is enchanting in its own right. The neighborhood is blissful, you find everything you need, shop owners couldn't be kinder. We walked all over the center, experiencing Rome at its fullest. We loved to hear from the owner about the history of his ancient family and of the palace. It gave us great insight into Rome's history. We will strongly recommend this property to friends and family.

Owner's Response: Thank you. It was our great pleasure hosting you. We particularly appreciated your interest in the culture and history of the palace and of the quarter, thus of Rome. We hope to see you soon, the kids still need to draw the turtles of the fountain! With kindest regards (also a special "ciao" to the kids from the ladies of the confectioner's shop).

'San Daniele' in Piazza mattei
Car: not necessary

This wonderful apartment is located in the heart of Rome, between the Campo de' Fiori and the Jewish Ghetto, and near Piazza Navona. It is situated in the famous historical and noble palace called Palazzo Costaguti, which faces the square called Piazza Mattei, from the name of the opposite aristocratic palace, Palazzo Mattei. The square is famous for its world-acclaimed, wonderful Fontana delle Tartarughe, or Turtles Fountains (1580), considered by most Romans and critics Rome's most beautiful.

The apartment is situated at the higher floor or 'piano nobile' of the fabulous noble 'Palazzo Costaguti' palace, one of Rome's most famous, and it is owned to this day by the aristocratic family. It is a truly a wonderful and most elegant property.

Both the apartment and the noble owner (descendant of a family counting kings, viceroys, saints and cardinals) are very inviting and will make you feel instantly at home - the one you always dreamed of, with the kindest landlord.

Nearby you also find all Rome's sights, churches, monuments, squares, palazzi, fountains, places of interest, historical landmarks, parks, museums, academies, and let's not forget the numberless restaurants, cafes, bars, shops (including those of artisans), artists' clubs, cinemas, and theatres. All these sights and places can be easily reached on foot, and if you don't feel like it, there is a taxi stand nearby, and public transport is efficient, fast and well organized.

In addition to enabling you to see and enjoy all Rome's wonderful sights, the quarter has a very homely feel. There are scores of family-run grocery stores (each with its peculiar specialty), bakers, confectioneries ('pasticcerie'), renowned and inviting restaurants, art and book shops, artisans shops. Shop owners are very welcoming and you will feel immediately part of the local community.

The apartment is situated between three of Rome's most famous central districts, with a completely different personality: 1) Piazza Navona with its elegant square, the marvellous fountains and churches and the chic, Dolce Vita atmosphere; 2) Campo de' Fiori, Rome's liveliest area, with its morning market, its grocery shops, and its bohemian character. 3) The Jewish Ghetto, with its unique ancient charm, its millenary inhabitants and traditions, its historical shops / restaurants / and also with Jewish sights (the main synagogue, Rome's Jewish Museum etc.).

In the end, you couldn't find a more elegant, large and complete property, situated in a most authentic and historical Roman palace, in a uniquely quintessential Rome location.
