Imagine relaxing on the deck with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. This unique, Timberpeg house is designed with comfort and luxury in mind. There is a simple open design with a large Great Room, consisting of a living and dining room along with a separate eat-in kitchen. The kitchen features a cooktop in the island and convection oven. The imported Mexican tile throughout the house adds detail to the exquisite decorating in each room. Listen to the TV and Stereo surround-sound system. It is perfect for entertaining or just bringing a movie to life.

There are two bedrooms and three baths on the first floor. The first floor Master Bedroom features two bathrooms, one with a jacuzzi and the other with a shower. The second floor has two bedrooms, two baths, and a spacious loft. Play some pool or ping-pong on the lowest level and enjoy the convenience of a second kitchen, a bedroom, bath, and walk-out porch that leads to the beach.

A private beach awaits you on the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore just across the street. There are dunes for sledding and miles of trails for biking and hiking. A short walk away is the park, where you will find a playground, tennis courts (with lights), basketball, and a huge field. All this, just less then an hour from Chicago, ten minutes from Chesterton, and 15 minutes from Michigan City.

We visit every year with our family. The kids love the lower level with the ping pong and pool tables. Of course, playing on the beach is the best. The house is always perfectly clean and well prepared for our visit.
The fond memories of staying at the "lake house" are too numerous to mention. The owners are accommodating in every way. We highly recommend the property for a quiet time at the lake with your family.

Beautiful family memories...

What a fabulous place to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday. The up-to- date, well equipped kitchen was the perfect place for all to congregate and share in making meals. What a delight to sit on the huge porch looking out on to Lake Michigan with our morning coffee and watching the sunset in the evening .We grilled out every night and enjoyed our dinner around that wonderful table, laughing and sharing memories, We all had our own beautifully decorated bedrooms with private bath...The house was very clean and very well maintained. .I'll be 70 in June...and this is where we'll be.....

My husband and I, along with our adult children and grandchildren, spent a lovely week at this beautiful house in Dune Acres. From the moment you open the front door and look through the house to see beautiful Lake Michigan, you immediately feel relaxed as you take in the view and peaceful atmosphere. It is a very quiet and private neighborhood. The deck that runs the entire length of the house overlooking Lake Michigan is where we spent many hours. On a clear day you can see the skyline of Chicago. We have beautiful pictures we took of the skyline at sunset. The sandy beach was the perfect place for the grandchildren to play and was only a short walk from the house. (Do take beach shoes to walk on the hot sand.) The house was lovely and clean and accommodated our large family quite nicely. The owners could not have been nicer or more gracious to us!!! This is the third place we have rented on Lake Michigan, and by far it is the best as far as privacy, accommodations, view and proximity to the beach. It is hard to find a rental like this one which is right on the lake and surrounded by peace ant tranquility. It doesn't get any better.

I wholeheartedly recommend this property!!

Great New Year Experience

My husband, family and I rented this lovely, spacious home overlooking Lake Michigan. Our experience with the house and owners was very positive and we so enjoyed the beach and lovely sunrises radiating off the city of Chicago.

We all will return and look forward to our next week in this beautiful post and beam home in the peaceful setting of Dune Acres.

Do Not Rent This Home

We made the mistake of renting this house last summer and the summer before. I should have learned from my mistake. The first summer, my children's nanny had to spend two days cleaning. I had specifically requested that the propane for the BBQ be full. The first night, as I was cooking chicken on the BBQ, it ran out of propane and the second bottle was empty. Lots of lights were missing bulbs, there is no insulation in the walls or ceilings, the oven door would not close all the way and other problems. The house is great and well located in front of the beach but be careful of the poison ivy on the property! Last summer we came back for more punishment. After we left the owner accused us of stealing furniture but later found it in the closet where they were storing it. They charged me $375 because they said we stained a window sill in this 1994 house. There is no property management, the owner lives in Chicago and comes out from time to time and is a real piece of work. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
Owner's Response: The facts are that this renter was recruited and managed by a realtor (not by the owners). Prior to their check in, the realtor and housekeeper toured with the family, and they commented on how immaculate the condition of the house was and that it was perfectly appointed. Following their checkout, the housekeeper and realtor toured the house and reported an extensive list of damage. We did take photographs and sent copies to the renters in order to show the repairs that were needed. This is the only time we have had damage to the property made by renters. It is also the only time we have ever withheld ANY amount of the security deposit. We appreciate the many families who have and continue to return to this beautiful home with dune and lake views. We treasure the many thank you notes regarding how their stay truly enriched their lives.
