La Maraichere is a beautifully refurbished and stylishly decorated four bedroom Provencal home, set in a large garden with swimming pool and secure parking area for three cars, located right in the centre of picturesque Lourmarin.

With extensive outdoor spaces for relaxing and entertaining, and offering beautiful views of both the village and the surrounding Luberon hills (All the photographs featured in this listing are taken from the house and garden), La Maraichere provides the perfect country hideaway for up to eight people – only one minute’s walk from the bustling village centre.

After an extensive renovation - just completed - the house has been furnished with a carefully chosen blend of chic French antiques and fresh modern comforts. La Maraichere is Provence style - at its best.

Downstairs a spacious entry hall leads though to the fully equipped kitchen with island bench, range cooker, dishwasher and marble benchtops. A stable door leads onto the spacious rear terrace overlooking the village, while an enclosed pantry and separate modern laundry also lead off the kitchen.

A fully equipped study (Wifi throughout the house and garden) is on the left and then a wide arch leads through to an outstanding sitting and dining room with antique beams, open stone fireplace and reverse cycle air-conditioning - to provide a cool haven on even the hottest of days. There are two sets of double doors, one leading to the main garden and pool and the other to the rear terrace and view - perfect for evening cocktails while watching the sun setting over the terracotta rooftops of the village.

Also downstairs, the third and fourth bedrooms, each with a 160cm bed (the fourth bedroom can be separated into twin beds if required) share a modern tadelakt finish bathroom with both walk in shower and bath, as well as a separate WC.

Upstairs there are two huge bedrooms, which have the most spectacular 180 degree views over the village and Luberon hills. Both bedrooms have reverse cycle air conditioning, 180 cm beds (one can be separated into twin beds if required) and each has its own ensuite bathroom with rainfall shower with takelakt finish, vanity and WC.

The large garden has a second outdoor entertaining and BBQ area, perfect for lunch under the shade of the mature tilleul trees and overlooking the heated swimming pool (9 metres x 4 metres with 'beach' at one end and electric security cover), olive and fig trees and ‘jeu de boules’ or petanque area.

The small, sought-after village of Lourmarin, captures the essence of Provence, with its picture book beauty and lively atmosphere. A number excellent restaurants and cafes, combine with chic shops and art galleries, a spectacular renaissance chateau and a vibrant Friday market to make the village itself the perfect summer holiday destination.

Its location, within easy distance of all the most popular Provencal tourist destinations – including Aix en Provence, Avignon, St Remy de Provence and Isle sur la Sorgue – as well as a host of highly acclaimed Michelin starred restaurants throughout the Luberon region, also makes Lourmarin the perfect base for touring the region either by car or by bike.

La Maraichere, which is available for rental on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday, or for longer lease, combines the space and privacy of a luxury country holiday home, with the convenience and atmosphere of being right in the centre of one of the most beautiful villages in Provence.

I thoroughly loved my stay at La Maraichere. Every detail of the beautiful villa’s decor and its surrounding gardens are a perfect combination of Provencal living and modernity in just the right proportions. Nearby Lourmarin – literally a 5 minute walk – is a charming village with superb restaurants, a grand weekly market, lovely shops as well as essential day to day grocery. Just minutes away by car, is the larger supermarket with everything you might want. Add in the central location from which to launch day trips throughout the region and you’ve got the perfect spot. I couldn’t have imagined a better choice.

A beautiful house - perfect.

The house and its large garden is in a perfect position - near the centre of the village with easy access to the surrounding villages.

The house was beautiful - immaculately clean, beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated.

The house had a wide range of facilities and the garden and pool were clean and spotless.

Sabine the housekeeper was very helpful and friendly and met us on arrival to explain everything about the house. She was also available to contact via e-mail/phone if we had any queries.

The owners were great to deal with and the whole process, from booking to leaving, was kept stress-free.

A great holiday in a beautiful house.
