If you want to see real Italy, this is the perfect place to come. The cottage is 50sqm perfect for a couple. However take advantage that there are no added charges for additional guests or for cleaning. The owner is always very happy to help you and give you directions. The view from the garden has been described as what you imagine Italy should be like. Surrounding fields are full of vines and olive groves. 20min by train to centre of Rome. On bus route. Supermarket 2min on foot. Cottage is in English owner's large garden where there is an olive grove, small stream, barbecue facilities, friendly dogs. Just 10 minutes drive (7kms) from Frascati, the cottage is in the middle of a wine growing area. You can visit some of the many local beauty spots which include Tivoli, Frascati, the ruins at Tuscolum. For a day at the beach, Lake Albano where the Pope spends his summer. Reiki treatment available. If you don't just wish to visit Rome but want to explore the local beauty spots
The location is perfect for all seasons. In autumn you can see the locals gathering grapes/olives. Take a walk around the Lake of Albano, collect sweet chestnuts. In winter the local ski resorts are only a little more than an hour away, where you can ski or merely toboggan or maybe even get a sun tan. For those who don't like the summer heat, it's a perfect time to explore. Apart from the sightseeing the Valmontone Outlet Store is only 20 minutes from the cottage.
In springtime activity begins in the vineyards. Garden enthusiasts will be delighted to see the gardens open to the public around Rome about which I am happy to give information. One of the most beautiful is Ninfa, open Apr to Nov, first Sat and Sun of month. Apr to June, third Sun of month, 1 May. After Ninfa enjoy lunch in nearby medieval town of Sermoneta. Pompeii is only 2 and a half hours by car.
Of course in the summer the beaches at the Lake Albano are friendly and safe. Very suitable for small children and a great place for adults to relax on a sun bed, in the shade of the trees at the edge of the lake. There are some delightful private swimming pools which are surprisingly inexpensive and only 15 mins by car. 25 mins away there is a big, fun, open air water park buzzing with life and entertainment. For a day at the sea only a little over an hour by car.
I am British and have been living in Italy since I was 23 years old. I am married to an Italian and have three daughters. I live in the main house on the grounds which we bought along with the cottage in 1999. I have been doing holiday lets for over 10 years.
Liz Rose purchased this cottage in 1999
This is a wonderful base for visiting Rome and the surrounding area, it is very cheap and easy to get to Rome on the train. If you hire a car the local area has a wealth of interesting and beautiful places to visit.
The cottage was excellent value for money, just perfect for us, clean and bright with a pretty garden. We loved our stay there.
We can't speak too hightly of Liz who is a fount of local knowledge and couldn't have been more helpful in every way, from making sure we had supper as we were arriving after the shops closed - to offering every possible help when we were stranded by the Icelandic dust cloud.
We couldn't have been stranded in a better place or with a kinder host!
This lovely little cottage is comfortable, clean and quiet. Hidden away in a small village, forty five minutes from the airport. Local shops and amenities are present and a bonus is the bus stop right out side the property. There is a train station five minutes bus ride, or car ride, from the cottage with an hourly train to the centre of Rome, (a twenty minute train journey away.)
The owner, Liz, is very informative and helpful, offering directions and tips for your stay. Close by is a lovely restaurant offering excellent food (15 minutes stagger.)
I would advise a car if you want to travel away from Rome and to fully appreciate the gorgeous surroundings, but for Rome centre, use public transport.
The orange tree in the garden supplemented our breakfast on the lawn, but the apple tree is a cooker.
Have a niceholiday.
This was a comfortable little house in the large, olive grove, garden of the owner.
The owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and her dogs were charming and equally welcoming.
Although the village was nothing special, it had nice friendly shops, an excellent restaurant and was fairly quiet.
The house was basic but pleasant with a bit of a lottery figuring out which lights worked and which didn't.
As a reasonably priced base to explore the delights of the Lazio region and for day trips by very cheap train into Rome it was perfect and we had a great holiday. Thank you.
The property is nice, definitely need a drive to get around but I booked it for a few days towards the end of my trip with my mum. So after a week of travelling around, was a really nice escape!
Liz and her daughter are absolutely briliant very helpful, definitely recommend the place.
My husband and I spent a portion of our honeymoon at Liz's beautiful little cottage. The cottage is very cozy and romantic and has everything that you will need even for an extended stay. The area is very pretty with a couple of markets within walking distance that supply everything you need. It is very close to the train station for excursions out. Liz is a wonderful and very personable hostess. She has a wealth of information about the area and will go above and beyond to make your holiday special. Her two dogs were very welcome visitors each day to the cottage and we very much enjoyed their company. I highly recommend spending your holiday in this lovely cottage.
The cottage had everything required for a wonderful holiday, the garden was a lovely place to relax at the end of a busy day.
Liz was a mind of information and advice which really helped make our holiday special. The two dogs made it seem like a home instead of a rental. Excellent base for visiting Rome and getting out and about with Liz's expert advice on suitable locations. Cottage very suitable for person's with limited mobility
Ski: Campo Felice in Abruzzo is about 1 hour 15 minutes away by car. At Campo Felice you can do both cross country skiing, and the slopes.
