Photos and Description of the Redondo vacation cabin rental
Sleep 4 in two bedrooms - 1 double and bunk beds

New 2 bedroom secluded wooden lodge that sleeps 4/5 with stunning views to all sides and the use of a shared pool and barbecue. The lodge has heating & air-conditioning.

Surrounded by cork forest, vineyard and beautiful hills you can wake to the sound of birds, you are only a short drive to shops and local amenities and within 2hrs of Lisbon or Spain 1 hour drive.

The Wood Lodge is ideally suited to writers, nature lovers, bird watchers, star gazers, romantics and those seeking tranquility and simplicity with modern conveniences fitted, and yet within walking distance of main farm house or pool . Feel free to roam the farm tracks or ask for a guided farm tour in our truck.

There are a myriad of activities to enjoy on the farm. For the walkers or mountain bikers there are kilometers of footpaths around the 540 hectare farm for you to explore and for those wishing to venture further afield, the nearby peaks offer unrivalled views of the surrounding countryside. Serra d’Ossa lies at 500 metres above sea level and boasting one of the driest climates in Europe. The absence of light pollution makes this an astronomers’ paradise.

Twitchers can enjoy seeking out over 70 species of birds in the unique habitat provided by the cork forest, several of our past guests are members of the RSPB and have made lists of the birds they have seen / heard. Here is a list of a few: White Stork, Booted Eagle, Red Kite, Kestrel, Cuckoo, Tawny Owl, Hoopoe, Red-Rumped Swallow, Great Bustard, Little Bustard and Bee Eater. Visitors to the local damn include black winged stilts and the occasional avocet. Very occasionally, bustards can be seen in the lower plains.

Within a one-hour drive from the farm, you can also explore nearby towns including Evora (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Estremoz famed for its Saturday morning market, Vila Viçosa with its two royal palaces, Reguengos and even neighbouring Spain.

Vineyards : While predominantly a hilly cork forest , a vineyard has recently been planted in an open valley producing Alicante Bouschet, Aragonêz, Touriga Nactional and Syrah quality grapes. Most of the grapes are sold; however a selection of the best quality grapes are retained for the production of a high quality red wine sold in Portugal under the Cem Reis label, and in the Netherlands under the Het Tientje name. This wine has been awarded silver medals in Wine Masters Challenge (Portugal), Mundus Vini (Germany), and Challenge Du Vin (France). Next year a white wine will also be produced from viognier grapes.

Cabin in a cork forest

5 of 5
Submitted: January 9, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
A delightful place to get away. The cabin has gorgeous views of the forested hills. At night the stars are wonderful. The only light visible is from the little village across the valley. All you hear is a pair of owls and the occasional tinkle of a goat bell. A cock crows in the morning. The 1000 acre property has lots of trails to walk. We found wild orchids in December.
Evora, Estremos, and Elvas are less than an hour's drive on good roads.
The cabin was clean, well stocked, and well maintained. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Beautiful place, highly recommended

Stunning place to stay! We stayed here in september with our baby, the owners were really friendly and hospitable, they even brought us a bag of wine and breakfast goodies when we arrived, what a welcome! The log cabin is on a hill and the views of the surrounding cork forest and hills opposite are beautiful. The highlight of our holiday was sitting on the porch having a barbeque and watching the sun set, there is nothing more relaxing. There is lots of walking and exploring to do on the farm, lots to see in the surrounding towns and villages, and you will hopefully have time to chill out by the pool at the end of the day! Cant recommend this place highly enough
