Breckenridge Lodge Rental Photos and Description

8 Bedrooms, 7 Bathrooms, Sleeps 40+

The River's Edge Lodge and Retreat Center becomes home the moment you step inside. Welcoming and warm, your first words will be, 'WOW! This is awesome!' Then you will need to restrain the kids (and some adults), as they want to take off exploring this four level, rustic and elegant home. Once you get past the breathtaking open kitchen, dining and living area, it is an adventure to check out the many rooms. Every room has it's own thermostat, new TV (several smart TV's), wifi and ethernet port for your laptop or desktop internet access.

Bedrooms each have their own personality. Lower level is the Grand Slam room (guys love it) featuring stories and photos of the local trout fishing. Look out the window to see the Blue River, which is home to all five types of trout. A king bed and a twin bed allows sleeping for three people.

A few steps up is the next level with the kitchen that boasts, two Subzero side-by-side refrigerators, one beverage frig, a refrigerated drawer and a freezer drawer. Two massive islands with three large sinks, three full sized dishwashers, a beverage center, commercial coffee brewer, espresso machine and gourmet cooking equipment. The beautiful bar area between the kitchen and dining area seats at least seven (great place to watch the chefs in action and keep them company). Two dining tables seat 14, and additional tables and chairs can be added. Plenty of room for everyone to mingle together in this huge open space with a fireplace, spectacular river views out the many large windows (where it is not unusual to see wildlife grazing close enough to the house for great pics!) Two double French doors open to a large patio overlooking the river. Front and back patios feature original antique lampposts from old downtown Breckenridge. Large propane grill, new patio dining sets (seats 24) and jacuzzi make the back patio perfect for outdoor parties. All areas are furnished with unique antiques, local craftsmanship, mining relics, comfy leather couches, and delightfully comfortable beds. Decorated in black and white photos depicting the early days of Breck, along with the stories behind the photos, this lodge has a bit of a museum feel.

Up to the next level you will find the 'Gold Rush' room with a river view, king sized bed, twin bed, and a huge bathroom.

Next door is my favorite room, the 'Vista Del Rio' room, with the best views in the house. You do not have to leave your room often, as this room features a kitchenette with refrigerator, sink, microwave, and a full set of dishes. Also has a king and a twin bed, private bath with large tub and shower, and lots of space to live in. A drop leaf table conceals folding chairs inside, if you choose to have your own dining table in your room.

Across the hallway on this level is the Tatonka room, decorated with my favorite, buffaloes and old native American photographs. A king bed, a twin bed and private bath make this a comfy room for at least three people.

This level also has a large laundry room with two full-size washers and dryers.

Moving up to the highest level, the'Big Red Room' is perfect for singles or a family of seven. It is furnished with a king bed, two extra long twins, a twin/twin bunk and a twin sleeper sofa. As with all other rooms, it is furnished with a large HD television, Wi-Fi and ethernet Internet access, and its own bath with tub and shower. Plenty of space in this area for people to hang out together and have room for all their stuff. A love seat and recliner, a large work table, plenty of nightstands and lamps for everyone make it easy for you to feel right at home. Suitable for an entire family to share.

Moving on down the hallway leads to the magnificent master suite with another fantastic view over the river from its private balcony. A king bed, twin trundle beds, and a queen sleeper sofa, also make this room perfect for a family to enjoy together. The master bath is very large with a beautiful walk in shower with multiple showerheads, a huge bathtub, a bidet, and two vanities. Totally secluded from the rest of the house, this is definitely the first choice when staying at the River's Edge Lodge and Retreat Center. An optional room within the master sleeps two in twin beds (must request in advance).

Finally, a kids (and parents!) Paradise is found in the three room basement. The 'Man Cave' is furnished with two oversized, comfy sectionals, a ping-pong table, a foosball table, puzzles, games and cards. Of course, two 60' smart TV's make it perfect for the big game or family movie night. Tile flooring transforms this room into a perfect dance floor.

The 'Bunker Room' sleeps five people on a twin/twin and a twin/full log bunk beds.

The Romper Room finishes the basement playground. This room is where you will find your kids most of the time. Very spacious for playing, yet still has plenty so room for 3 twin/twin bunks, one twin/full bunk and a queen bed. Sleeps 11 people.

About Nancy Cordoba

Eddie and Nancy Cordoba have worked diligently for several years to build this fantastic home to share their love for the mountains and all Breckenridge and the beautiful Rockies have to offer. We finished building early 2013 and are excited to share our Lodge with our guests. We have chosen to devote our lives to this endeavor and do everything possible to make your event everything you dreamed of and more. Our motto - 'We are at your Breck and call'.

Nancy Cordoba purchased this lodge in 1988

Why Nancy Cordoba chose Breckenridge

This property is a one-of-a-kind treasure. It is very difficult to locate a place where multiple families can stay together comfortably. The location on the river, close to town, yet away from the hustle and bustle is very rare. The amenities far exceed most properties in the area.

What makes this lodge unique

The Lodge is rare find where large groups can vacation in the same house for family reunions, retreats, conferences, wedding parties, and other special occasions.

Photos do not do this place justice. We arrived to a spotlessly clean, huge house. Plenty of room for everyone to stretch out, lots of parking. The kitchen was awesome, the cooks of the family give it 10 stars. Everything was first class. The river winding through the property was beyond beautiful. It is located in a very quiet area about a mile from Breckenridge. I will be back.

Amazing Experience

  • 5 of 5

This vacation exceeded all of our expectations. The property is better than described (in my opinion). In fact, I don't think the pictures do it justice (sorry, no offense:) The home is simply beautiful and the owners were the icing on the cake!! Nancy and Eddy made us feel right at home from the second we entered (had a warm inviting fire, lights on and walks shoveled. The pride in ownership shows and I'm not sure you could find another property that could handle large groups, so close to town with owners as nice as these people. As the kids called it "The Mansion" was well stocked with everything we needed (and we cooked 2 meals a day for 4 days) and had plenty of space for everyone. The location is beautiful and so close to town. The kids enjoyed playing in the snow outside and exploring the river. While the adults enjoyed the wood burn fireplace and ample seating in the kitchen/great room and relaxing furniture to unwind after a long day on the slopes. Not to mention soaking the sore muscles in the Hot Tub. The owners are simply some of the nicest people around and made sure our stay was enjoyable. Can't say enough about the experience!!! I would highly recommend to anyone.... We are hoping to do it again next year!!!!

Owner's Response: Tim, it was an absolute pleasure seeing your families and kids having such a great time at the River's Edge. We consider it a privilege to be able to provide "the mansion" to build lasting memories for friends and families. We would be thrilled to have your fun and charming group of friends return anytime! Thank you for your kind review, and especially for taking such great care of our home that we treasure. It is people like you and your group that make our mission so rewarding. What great joy it brings us! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and your great appreciation of the lodge. We are looking forward to your next visit. Eddie and Nancy

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the best vacations we have ever had. The home was warm and inviting. It was so relaxing to end up here after a long day hitting the slopes. The fire was awesome and the kitchen was like being the chef at a five star resturant. The river just outside the home could be heard at any time and it all just made this vacation a special family event. I would recommend this to any large family or group that wants to have a great time in a home away from home.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Johny. Nothing makes us happier than to see families share such great times and everlasting memories! We love all the great photos and stories of your fantastic ski vacation. Loved meeting you and look forward to the next time. We really appreciate the way you treated and cared for the home as though it was your own. Really loved how much fun your sweet boy had in his many outdoor adventures! Impressive group of ambitious skiers!

Amazing Location!

  • 4 of 5

A total of 19 people (including 7 children between 4 and 8) stayed at the River´s Edge Lodge for a whole week... It was awesome, the house is very spacious and it is settled in a beautiful location next to a river and surrounded by lots of trees. The game room was an absolute success for children and adults alike, and we really enjoyed the spacious kitchen and living room.

A few minor details though. There were quite a few locked areas in the house, including the garage, which forced us to leave our cars outside in the super cold weather and struggle every morning to get them warm and started; the coffee maker was dirty when we arrived with some very old used coffe; and one of the garbage cans was full; one of the burners in the stove did not work; and the grill outside had two empty propane gas tanks, which made us had to go out to buy one new one; also there were not enough spoons and spatulas for the stove; and finally we found some dirty used underware in one of the rooms.

Car is defenetely needed to go into town (almost 2 miles away) or sking as the Breckenridge buses do not go as far as to this property.

Overall, our experience was great!

Owner's Response: When we arrived to clean our beautiful lodge, we were nearly heartbroken. My husband, myself and one other lady are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the lodge. Our home was a horrible mess. We could not walk on the floor without stepping on trash, food, used chewing gum, candy wrappers, strawberry stems stuck to the woodwork, leaving my beautiful rustic Alder wood with red stains. The normally spotless Wolf range and ovens were thick with charred food remains, grease and other unidentifiable matter completely covered the cooking area. Four of my frying pans were in the same condition as the stove, completely burned to a crisp. There were two very large, partially eaten, hams left on top of the stove, and other types of food and party leftovers strewn throughout the entire lodge. After pulling out disgusting piles of garbage, dishes, trash, plastic bags, from the sinks. I found the same type of things lodged in the drain, including more chewed gum. On the back patio where there is a very nice grill and cook top, along with beautiful patio furniture, the first thing I noticed were broken beer bottles, exploded frozen beer cans, plenty of trash, but the worst of all, a fire had been built directly on top of my stamped concrete patio, leaving a 2' diameter hole in the colored, stamped concrete directly in front of the door going from the kitchen to the patio. The firewood that did not burn completely was thrown randomly around the patio and backyard. The tables and chairs were in disarray. In response to the guests' remarks, the only locked areas in the lodge were storage of cleaning products, paper supplies, linens, and other items required to maintain the lodge. All areas that were listed on VRBO were open when guests arrived. It is not part of the agreement to provide propane for the outdoor grill, however as a courtesy, we did leave a tank full and one tank empty so they could go exchange for another. The garage is not advertised as available to renters. Approximately 100 spoons that we are available for our guest were dirty, along with other cooking utensils. Upon housekeeping's arrival, the guests had not begun to prepare for departure. The children were refusing the parents' request to leave. They checked out 2.5 hours late, leaving the furniture in complete disarray, and games scattered. We worked until the middle of the night to prepare for next guests. By far, our worst experience renting to date and definitely the most damage ever sustained

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Just came back from an extended weekend stay. We had a group of 23 in age range from almost 80 years old down to 10 months. Plenty of room for the kids to play outside or down in the basement where they love to hang out together! Kitchen is huge if you happen to have great cooks that love to spread out and show off their skills. Bedrooms are very roomy and have their own bath. Our nephew and his wife had the babies of the group and their room was accommodating with a kitchenette which was convenient for making bottles at night. Breckenridge is just a minute or two away. Hot tub was great for girl talk and wine on the patio. Kids had a great time roasting marshmallows on the front patio while the guys enjoyed a cigar and drink. The morning coffee is the best-especially the "loco & crazy"! I would highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review, Karen. Seeing wonderful families like yours spend time together and have so much fun sure makes all the effort that we put into this place very worthwhile! We love to see families reunited, kids running around in the beautiful outdoors, throwing rocks in the River, campfires, and plenty of laughing! Thank you and your family so much for your stay and for taking such good care of our place. We look forward to seeing you again sometime.

Great place for Events and Reunions

  • 5 of 5

My family planned a family reunion for my father who recently passed away, and we used the River's Edge Lodge for the event. The lodge accommodated our ever changing group (between 20-30 people) - comfortably, and we were able to conduct a Celebration of Life and Memorial service on the porch for 50 people. The spacious kitchen, living room, game room and patios provided ample space for people to relax, talk, and find privacy (when needed).

For large groups - where quality time and space for social events is needed - this is an excellent location.
