Main House and an attached 830 sq. ft. Guest House, with a total of 5 en-suite bedrooms -- ideal for private events or small corporate retreats. Few homes in Sonoma can offer the luxury accommodations and spacious interiors that one finds in Winner’s Circle.
In addition to four en-suite bedrooms, the Main House has a massive Grand Room, welcoming Media/Game Room, private Dining Room, commercially sized Kitchen with a butler's pantry, sunny Breakfast Room, Guest Bath and Laundry. The attached Guest House includes the fifth en-suite bedroom plus a Living Room and open Kitchen. All facilities are air conditioned with individual controls for each bedroom suite. Sonos Sound, WIFI, DirecTV and fireplaces can further enhance one's stay. The property is gated and offers 3 garage stalls and ample outdoor parking.
Destinations of Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Sebastopol and Guerneville are only 20-25 minutes away. Nearby activities include wine tasting, fine dining, golf, tennis, hiking, biking, river sports and antiquing. The Pacific Coast with its rugged beauty is only 45 minutes away. Private chefs and tours can be arranged. Airport access includes the Charles Schulz Sonoma County Airport (about 20 minutes away, in Santa Rosa) and the San Francisco and Oakland airports (about 90 minutes away) ... or one can land his helicopter on the property.
MORE ABOUT THE PROPERTY
The short drive from the Sonoma County Airport ('STS') takes you through a lovely countryside featuring farms, vineyards and woods. A mile down Vine Hill Road, the trees open up to over 400 acres of mature vineyards and a view of this palatial estate perched atop the nearby hill.
This contemporary, all-on-one-level home was architected by Gerald C Taylor of San Francisco in 1991 and renovated in 2013 with Myra Hoefer Design. In addition to skylights and clerestory windows, the home embraces the beautiful Sonoma weather and hilltop location with floor-to-ceiling windows, a striking feature at this distance. At night, the property’s dramatically placed outdoor lighting can be particularly stunning.
Just off Vine Hill Road, the curving driveway climbs the hill through the vines and horse pastures to reveal panoramic views of the Russian River Valley. Ample parking is provided by a large Auto Court and 3 garage stalls. If desired, a nearby area can accommodate a helicopter.
A covered walkway greets one at the main house entry and connects to the Guest House on the left and Garage on the right. The walkway on the left leads on to 4000 sq. ft. of terraced patios which wrap most of the main house. At the far end the walkway opens to a large semi-circular area with abundant outdoor seating. Farther around the house are the heated pool and spa. Every direction offers spectacular vistas, yet supreme privacy.
It’s clear that no expense was spared in the 7440 sq. ft. Main House. The entryway opens into a massive Grand Room that typifies the home. Clerestory windows ring the high ceiling and natural light pours in, welcoming you to enjoy the swanky, hip yet comfortable Myra Hoefer décor. A small horse statue sets on the table, one of the many pieces celebrating the successful Thoroughbred horse breeding history of the original owners. Oversized furnishings and ample seating invite guests to relax and enjoy their vacation. In the corner sets a Baldwin grand piano, played and signed by Ferrante & Teicher in 1991 at the grand opening of the residence. It’s also immediately clear that this single-level home will readily accommodate any guests requiring a wheelchair or scooter-friendly environment.
To the left, the Grand Room connects to the Gourmet Kitchen and dining areas. Even the Breakfast Nook can stop you in your tracks, where the 6-person table is surrounded by 180 degrees of floor-to-ceiling glass windows. A small TV nearby enables one to watch DirecTV or play his own DVDs, viewable from the table. To its left, the commercial-layout Kitchen is just as impressive with a 6-burner Décor gas cooktop, new KitchenAid electric double-oven, two Sub Zero refrigerators, two KitchenAid dishwashers, three sinks, All Clad cookware, Wustoff knives, Spiegelau and Riedel glassware, barware, a Nespresso espresso machine, and a variety of small appliances. And on the right, a doorway leads to a 12-person Dining Room featuring a 90” round dining table. Beyond the table, sliding doors open back into the far end of the Grand Room. If the Dining Room cannot accommodate everyone, the Grand Room can also be configured as a large dining area.
Opposite the entry, the massive Grand Room opens into a Media/Game Room with its wood burning fireplace flanked by a comfortable seating area. On the left a 60” HDTV affords great viewing of sporting events and programming by DirecTV. Alternatively, guests can watch their own movies using the attached Blu-ray DVD player. To the right are books, games, and one of two game tables with additional seating. Of course, it would be easy to overlook this cozy setting, thanks to the unrestricted views through floor-to-ceiling windows of the 4000 sq. ft. of patios and the hills beyond.
Finishing off the common areas are a guest Powder Room, the Laundry Room (featuring Maytag appliances) and a Yoga Room - our bright, sky-lit, windowless, mirrored room providing 100 sq. ft. of space for stretching, yoga or Pilates.
Each of the property’s 5 bedrooms has en-suite private baths, Eastern king-sized Westin Heavenly Bed mattresses, sitting areas and spectacular views. In the Main House the Master Bedroom and a Bedroom 4, along with their large, walk-in closets and bathrooms, can be combined into a family suite. The Master Bedroom and Bedroom 3 each have wood-burning fireplaces. And the Master Bedroom and the Bedroom 2 each include a DirecTV HDTV. In the Guest House Bedroom the bed can be configured as two-extra-long twins or an Eastern king. The sofa in the Guest House Living Room can additionally be made into a queen fold out bed.
In addition to the ensuite bedroom, The Guest House also includes a Kitchenette open to the Living Room. The fifth TV is located here, offering Direct HDTV as well as a Blu-ray DVD player. This accommodation is perfect for a host desiring extra privacy, older children, or even live-in help.
