GREAT HOUSE! MUST RENT!

  • 5 of 5
Rented this house for a girls weekend in CT and we had the BEST time!! Very clean, very spacious, and very cute! Home is in great beach community with access to small beach and tennis court. Perfect location right in between the villages of Mystic and Stonington where we had delicious dining experiences! I definitely recommend this property and look forward to coming back!! Thank you to the owners for allowing us to stay.

Owner's Response: DearLindsey, Thank you for your response. I'm very sorry about the issue with the hot tub. And thanks so much for letting us know. We (ourselves) empty, sanitize and refill between each rental because I want to be sure it is done right. For future guests I have included more notes for guests to refer to regarding the use of the hot tub. I also called our local Spa guy who suggested that we recommend that Chlorine be used between each 2 persons who use the spa. I'm happy you and your friends enjoyed your stay.

USCGA GRAD WEEK

  • 5 of 5
Our stay was fantastic! Everything was in perfect condition; the house was very clean and well stocked. We especially appreciated being across the street from the park with the soccer field and tennis courts. We took advantage of the grill on the deck and the campfire pit, too. Very nice place. Would recommend to my friends travelling to this area. Thank you!

DELIGHTFUL TIME.

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our recent stay at this lovely home on Lords Point. We felt very welcomed and were delighted to find the house in immaculate condition. Everyone we encountered during our morning and evening walks was very friendly. The sound of the fog horn in the distance lulled us to sleep at night in our comfy beds. Thank you and we hope to return again.

A LOVELY BEACHSIDE COMMUNITY HOME

  • 5 of 5
This was a wonderful rental home. The house was immaculate, charming, and extremely comfortable (great beds, spacious rooms, comfortable sofa, updated kitchen and bathrooms). Although there were only 2 of us staying there, it could have easily accommodated a whole family and there would have been room for everyone. The house has so many amenities-- we especially enjoyed the hot tub right off the master bedroom, and the gas fireplace on a chilly fall night. We only wish we could have stayed longer so we could have also enjoyed the backyard more (which was beautifully planted and groomed) and the fire pit. For people with kids, this seems like a great place to stay-- the beach is minutes away, and there is a community center, a playground, and a park literally right across the street. The owners were also very responsive and a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. We've rented many properties on VRBO and this is definitely one of the best we've rented, both in terms of appearance and comfort.

Stonington Travel Tips

Getting to Stonington Vacation Rentals

Stonington is located just a quick five-minute drive from the well-known Connecticut resort town of Mystic. It is approximately a two-hour drive from either New York City or Boston. The town has a beautiful rocky shoreline and looks out over the Atlantic. The nearest major city is Providence which is approximately a 45-minute drive away. Visitors from Hartford can get to Stonington within one to two hours. It is a popular upmarket vacation destination for residents from Connecticut as well as other major East Coast cities. There are good road links and most people choose to drive to Stonington. The nearest airport is in Providence. Alternatively, if you are traveling from other parts of North America that are further afield, you can fly into any one of the New York City airports or Boston Logan International Airport.

Colonial Luxury at Stonington Waterfront Houses

The vacation homes in Stonington are some of the most impressive buildings in the area. Stately colonial homes are ideal for large families and can accommodate an average of 10 people at a time. Victorian homes have been lovingly renovated and restored to their former glory. Spacious living areas and wide open lawns provide ample space for the kids to play and entertain themselves. There are some homes that are wonderfully luxurious, so you can check in and enjoy some posh style. Other homes are more modest but still equally stylish. You can feel quite at home preparing meals in the well-equipped kitchens and dining around a large table with family and friends.

Attractions near Stonington Cottages

Perhaps the most well-known attraction near Stonington is the neighboring community of Mystic. The town boasts a historic center which provides insight into the town's traditions of shipbuilding and commercial fishing. The Old Mystic Village has more than 60 shops which all maintain a charming New England-style appearance. You can browse for antiques, crafts, paintings and sculptures to take home as souvenirs of your vacation. There are many excellent local restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious seafood meal. The Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration is a fascinating place to visit. There, you can see creatures of the deep and a wide variety of marine life. The shows and talks provided at the center are well worth signing up for. Anyone who has an interest in the sea and marine life can spend hours at the center. The Mystic Seaport is a living museum which provides visitors with a glimpse into life in a New England coastal village in the early 1800s. You can watch tradesmen going about their trades and shipbuilders working at their craft.

Seasons to Visit Connecticut Vacation Rentals in Stonington

Because of its location on the Atlantic coastline of Connecticut, the most popular season to travel is during the warmer summer months. Stonington is a relatively sleepy town for most of the year and that is a large part of its charm. The town does get busier during the summer months of June and July when many families frequent the area as part of their summer vacations. As it is just a five-minute drive to the busy resort town of Mystic, many families may rent a cottage in Stonington and then head out during the day to explore the area's attractions. In the winter months, the weather can be chilly but if your ideal getaway involves beautiful scenery and cozying up on the couch in front of a fireplace then that will be a good time of year for you to visit Stonington.
