|Minimum Stay||2 - 4 nights|
This four bedroom vacation home has everything you could dream of for a special mountain getaway - a tree and fern filled landscape, cozy wood stove, a scenic, fast-running river right out back, and plenty of easy-going character. And if there are any golfers in your group, Welches is the place for a truly memorable trip, as the very first Oregon golf course is less than a mile away!
Hidden back among the trees, surrounded by blooming foxglove and a bubbling pond, this home makes quite an impression upon arrival. Inside, you'll be greeted with a lovely sunken living room with tall ceilings, mountain cabin decor, lots of windows, and colorful nature-themed art hanging on the walls. It will be easy to find a comfortable spot to relax in this very family-friendly interior! Just sit back, put your feet up, and enjoy the warmth of a wood stove fire. Aside from reading a good book while you relax, there's also a TV with DVD player and VCR, plus some DVDs and VHS movies to pick from. On chilly evenings you can gather everyone around for a movie night or a board game.
The dining room and kitchen are open and bright with dining room table seating for eight. The breakfast bar holds three extra stools and is great for quick snacks or just reading the morning paper with a cup of coffee. In addition to all the major appliances you'd expect, there's also a toaster oven, microwave, coffee grinder, and tea kettle. Also plenty of dishes, glasses, and silverware. Breakfasts like banana nut pancakes or chive scrambled eggs and bacon will be a joy to whip up in this clean, well-appointed space. And, if someone in your group is up for a challenge, head to the aptly named Salmon River and spend a sunny afternoon fishing for salmon and steelhead for dinner.
Right near the dining room is access to the amazing outdoor deck. Take in the mountain landscape from this peaceful oasis. In the yard, an outdoor fire pit is all ready for ambiance or making s'mores after dinner. The deck holds your brand new hot tub where you can relax and listen to the sounds of the might Sandy. Stairs from the deck lead down to the rushing Sandy River (more for memorable photographs than swimming, this part of the river has very fast currents!).
Back inside on the main level, the master bedroom has its own deck access, a queen sized bed, and an eclectic, relaxing design. Since this is the only bedroom on this level, it's peaceful and private. Right through the sliding glass door is a vista of trees, loads of fresh mountain air, and a hammock to lounge away the day in. This room also has an attached bath with a shower.
The remaining three bedrooms are located upstairs. One bedroom has two twin beds, a TV, and deck access for a view down over the hot tub. A nearby kid's game room has a twin-sized pull out sofa, love seat, a TV and a little mini-pool table. Lots of games are also available, so the little ones always have fun activities to keep them occupied.
Another bedroom down the hall features a queen bed. The final bedroom has lovely, framed Oregon travel prints, deck access, a TV, and more eclectic, mountain style. This four-bedroom home will comfortable sleep 10 guests. Additionally, dogs are welcomed here! Bring your four legged friends for a $10 per pet, per day fee ($40 minimum per stay). Other amenities include a stereo with CD player, washer and dryer, and WiFi.
Like all towns near Mt. Hood, Welches offers many cold weather activities as well, be it a sleigh ride around snowy downtown or just enjoying a cup of hot cocoa back at your cabin. Nearby Mt. Hood Ski Bowl is about 15 minutes away and Timberline is only a 25 minute drive east. National Forest lands surround the home, so there are also plenty of opportunities for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
In summer, Oregon's First Golf Resort is right at the Resort at The Mountain. It's only a mere mile away! The Courses offers challenging golf in lovely environs. In addition there's a spa and a pub. Even those not playing on the green can enjoy a massage, followed by a glass of wine and a Caesar salad. Also nearby, cyclists can choose from over 40 bike routes around town, and there are 30 trails for hiking in the Salmon-Huckleberry Wildnerness Area.
Dining options are plentiful along US Route 26 - everything from fine dining at The Rendezvous to pizza and beer at Mogul Mountain Pizza (they deliver too)! The local Thriftway grocery is just half a mile away, so it's always easy to grab a few last-minute ingredients for dinner. Whether you stay in this wonderful mountain home for golfing, skiing, or if you just end up spending your time on the amazing deck listening to the Sandy River, you'll love this Mt. Hood getaway!

This is the second year I've rented this place for my grown kids and their spouses. We were a little disappointed this year because the snow just wasn't there, but we found a couple of hikes to go on and that was just as good. The days were sunny and warm for January and that made the hikes beautiful and fun. I'd recommend staying here to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation.
Nice, big, clean house, with a huge deck and great views of the river. Gorgeous property that feels very private. We have kids and dogs and all were very comfortable in this set up. Would definitely go back.
The house was very clean, cozy and had all the amenities that we wanted! The hot tub on the back porch was awesome. Having the gas grille and firewood provided made the experience even better - we really appreciated that! From what I have seen this property is one of the best values in the area. One thing that the pictures don't do justice is that the floor plan is VERY open, which is exactly what we wanted since we were a bigger group. Very conducive to spending time together.
Lovely property with excellent outdoor space. The deck is huge with a BBQ, hot tub, and fire pit. We spent every evening outside for hours enjoying the river and the stars from the deck. The home was spacious and clean. Close to hiking and kayaking on various lakes. Would absolutely go back!
This house was very clean, lots of room and comfortable sofas. The decor was not our taste but that is minor. There are no condiments in the kitchen so be sure to buy everything you need if you plan to cook. The hot tub was wonderful. The front yard is fenced which was great for our dog! A little bit of a drive to Multnomah Falls or the Hood River area). Welches is a very small town but does have a grocery store and National Park office. The town of Sandy is not far away and has more options for food.
The house, deck, view and location are great. We enjoyed Timberline Lodge, fantastic mountain biking trails, great food at Skyway Bar and Grill, scenery, and the sights and sounds of the Sandy River. Excellent weekend in every way.
