A WONDERFUL AND COMFORTABLE RESPITE - REALLY DELIG

  • 5 of 5
Eileen, Tim and Raymond are wonderful! Eileen even leaves you a wonderful basket of home baked muffins! the home is fine for 2 and will sleep many, many more. it is beautifully appointed. to the new upstairs room is really beautiful (this is my second time staying at the home). The location is beautiful. you have easy access to the ring of Kerry, Dingle, the Blasket Islands, the Skellig Islands, etc. Stay a week and really explore! The home has every thing you will need- there are even bikes in the garage. I highly recommend the house and the Sugre family are delightful!

A FANTASTIC WEEK IN A SECOND HOME

  • 5 of 5
We spent a fantastic week in Kerry and had the pleasure to be guests in the house of the incredibly kind and helpful Raymond and Eileen. The house is in a top shape and very clean and there is nothing one could possibly miss. All the kitchen and household accessories you want, bicycles, a grill, sun chairs...you name it. No matter what you want to do with your time in Kerry this house is the perfect place to start. The beautiful beach is only a 5 minute walk away. The next town is only (car )minutes away too and the Ring of Kerry too. Nevertheless you can enjoy the nature and beauty and quitness of Irland at its best. The week in Kerry was a great time and the house let it feel like a second home for us and we will return as soon as possible. Thank you Raymond and Eileen.

BALLINSKELLINGS

  • 5 of 5
This was a super house to stay at for a week, 2 adults and 2 teenage sons. The pictures on the website don't do the property justice at all. The house is well furnished, warm, has every kitchen amenity you would need, plenty of entertainment, dvd's, books, comfortable beds and just has that 'nice feel' to the place. Having stayed at other houses in the area I can say its is fantastic value for money

Ballinskellig Bay itself is a lovely area and even if it rains it soon stops. It's off the Ring of Kerry away from the thunderous procession of tourist coaches, so it's nice and relaxing and a chance to slow things down for a while.

If you want a beach there's the outstanding beaches of Derrynane 15 minutes away and there's plenty of fishing in the area - go have a word with Kevin in the angling shop in Waterville.

There's great walking locally and all the shops you'll ever need in Cahersiveen.

This really is a lovely part of Ireland and you'll feel a buzz of excitement as you first approach the mountains and eventually pass through towards Ballinskellings

Thank you Kerry and thanks to the Sugrue's

TRULY IDYLLIC LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Liz J, Kent England

For someone who is a frequent visitor to Ireland, this was my first trip to Kerry. I was absolutely amazed at the stunning countryside and views. The whole experience of the holiday from renting the property, the arrival and the stay was made absolutely seamless by Eileen and Tommy. The homemade cakes and home-grown tomatoes that were left for us on arrival gave it that special personal homely touch. The property is in a fantastic location; just five minutes by car to Caherciveen where you will find everything you need from grocery shopping to pubs and restaurants.
Within a few minutes you can reach a selection of beautiful beaches, Valencia Island and to experience the most break taking scenery ever take the Skellig Ring Drive. To make the most of your stay a car is essential.
The house is newly decorated and very spacious with every need thought about. It was like home from home. I have never rented a property before where every tiny detail has been thought about. The sitting room was very comfortable with a selection of DVD’s and books. On the coffee table there is a very helpful visitor guide with a selection of things to see and places to go, this is a must to look at! Linen and towels were provided. The kitchen was very spacious and well equipped, even with things like tinfoil and dishwasher tablets. It was great having a dishwasher; we were able to make use of the kitchen after a full day of sightseeing without it being a chore.
Everywhere was very clean and tidy. There was a spacious garden which would be ideal for alfresco dining in the summer. It was an amazing place to stay and excellent value for money. I would happily recommend this property to others. It could not be faulted in any way. It was my husband’s first trip to Ireland and the whole experience has left him wanting to return. Thank you for such a great stay.

HOLIDAY HOME WITH CHARM

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Eileen and Tommy’s guest house last month. The house was lovely. Everything you could wish for to make a perfect holiday. There were 5 adults and 2 children staying and there was plenty of room for all of us. The attention to detail was amazing from the dvds and selection of books to the fully equipped kitchen. And of course the freshly baked cakes the morning after we arrived were a really tasty surprise. The adults were delighted, as well as the kids !
The situation of the house was amazing. Only about 5 minutes to the nearest town, Caherciveen and a few minutes to a selection of beautiful clean beaches and of course the “Skellig Ring”drive. Valencia Island is also a short drive away and the kids loved the car ferry we used to get there. We also travelled along the nearby Ring of Kerry towards Sneem. The weather was gorgeous and the views were stunning.
All in all, a fantastic holiday and an amazing place to stay. Great value for money too.
I would recommend anyone to stay here.
It was a home away from home and we will definitely be back.

FANTASTIC HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5
We stopped at Eileen and Tommy's house towards the end of August. The house was fantastic and has everything you need. (including some freshly baked cakes on arrival) We were a family of four, 2 adults 2 children, aged 4 and 5. We had an additional three adults stay with us at the beginning of our stay and the house easily catered for 7 people. The beaches close by are stunning. Ballinskelligs beach is great with an old fort on the beach. We went to Kenmare one day and done the Seafari. Great fun ! Killarney another day where we visited Muckross House. We had a great time and this property is fantastic value for money. Highly recommnended.

This house (Green Acres, built 2004) is located in the tranquil setting of Ballinskelligs, this lovely 5 bedroom 3 bathroom house contains a modern fully equipped kitchen and a stone open fireplace in the sitting room as well as Wi Fi for internet use. It is tastefully decorated and contains many objects collected locally over the years.

Rinn Roe beach is about a 20 minute walk away. This is a beautiful unbroken 1.3 mile of sandy beach which is a well known here in ireland for its Flat and Bass fishing. During the summer season a surf school is based here. On the far end of the beach lies the world famous Waterville Golf Links, which over the years has been frequented by notables such as Tiger Woods, Mark o Meara, Payne Stewert.

There is a second golf course on the opposite side of Waterville which opened for play in 2006 and is becoming quite popular with the tourist in the summer months.

The central location is also ideal for taking the opportunity to visit some of the various and diverse cultural, historical and scenic attractions such as the Ring of Kerry, The Skellig Rock, one of the republics 2 world heritage sites is a very inportant attraction to the area. Its owes its history to the monestry which was set up there in the 7th centuary. It is believed that the monks stayed on the rock until the late 1200s at which time they relocated to the Priory Abbey of Ballinskelligs (Arroasian Canons of the Order of St Augustine). Boats leave from Portmagee on a Daily Basis during the summer months to visit and land on the Great Skellig.

Another attraction to the area is the Pre Famine village of Cill Reilig which was restored in the 1990,s and now is home to an aetists retreat of whos work can be seen at the art and craft gallery located in the village of Dun Geagan.

There are two public houses in the locality with one serving bar food during the summer.

Walking and cycling are popular activities particurly with our European visitors. The most well known treck being the well established Kerry Way but there are shorter walks within the locality shuch as Bolus Head and Bray Head Valentia. A new loop walk has been established begning at Rinn Roe beach and across some farm land, bog/ heathland and back on to the country lanes.

Diving and watersports such as Kyacking are also organised locally.

The fishing village of Portmagee is only a 15 minute drive away and is a very popular tourist destination. it has one of the best restaurants in South Kerry specalising in locally caught sea foods. Valentia is just a hop over the bridge and is a little bit of Colonial Past in modern day Ireland. It was one of three sites in the ninenth centuary (the other two Ballinskelligs and Waterville), for the laying of submarine cables from Europe to North America. The island prospered being in the centre of global communications. Valentia is also well known for its Slate Products.
