Lake Placid Cottage Rental Photos and Description

4BR, 4 Bath fabulous location in historic Lake Placid Club

As Lake Placid Club grew from its inception in 1895, it experienced many expansive changes. At it's height, the private club included 6,000 acres in an extensive development of accommodations, recreation facilities, service buildings, farmland and forest. In the early part of the 1900s certain members of the club were no longer satisfied with the hotel-like accommodations in the large club house. Over time some 40 cottages were built near, but separate from, the main building. Today, fewer than a dozen of these historic buildings remain. Our house, Juniper Cottage, built in 1923, is one of them. The total renovation of the property, completed in July 2005, has been as respectful as possible to the original Juniper and is designed to maximize its secluded forest setting and the variety of mature trees which surround the house.

There are 4 bedrooms each with their own screened in porch. One of the bedrooms has it's own private (gas) fireplace. Great for romance or just to 'take off the morning chill'. Three of the bedrooms have private baths (full) and the fourth bathroom has a 2-person whirlpool tub. Perfect for soaking after a long day of outdoor activities! On the lower level, a therapeutic infrared dry sauna is available for guest use.

The living room has a 14 foot cathedral ceiling, great views of the forest and a large stone fireplace. (Don't worry about bringing firewood, we supply plenty for you.) The room is perfect for sitting around the fireplace reading, chatting, watching TV, or listening to music. Juniper is equipped with high speed internet so you can use all of your devices anywhere in the house.

Juniper is close (5-10 minute walk) to town but situated in a private-wooded setting. This allows for privacy when grilling and/or dining outside. Or just when sitting with your family and friends around the outdoor fire pit.

From Juniper Cottage you can easily access many activities. It is a short walk or bike ride into town and all that that has to offer. On the Lake Placid Club grounds there are three golf courses designed by Scots for the Lake Placid Club. There are also tennis courts and a private beach on Mirror Lake adjacent to the Boat House Restaurant.

There is access to many hiking (and biking) trails right outside the front door. In the winter, these trails are groomed for cross country skiing. With a car, skiing at the Olympic Mountain of Whiteface is 15 minutes away, and, in all seasons, near-by activities and attractions are truly limitless.

About Leanne Burrell

We have been vacationing in Lake Placid for the last twenty years. It is our favorite family vacation spot regardless of the season because there is always something to do.

In addition, we love the international feel of Lake Placid and enjoy meeting people from all over the world.

Leanne Burrell purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Leanne Burrell chose Lake Placid

The private setting that is only minutes from downtown Lake Placid is what drew us to this property. Also, we love that it is in the historic Lake Placid Club with access to golf, tennis, and a private beach. Oh, and we can't overlook the joy of being car-free once we arrive at Juniper.

What makes this cottage unique

Very cute cottage in great setting! Cottage is cozy but big enough for large families! Everyone loves using the sauna after a long day of hiking the High Peaks!

Fantastic Cottage

  • 5 of 5
We booked Juniper Cottage for an extended family vacation with six adults and three children. It's very spacious and has lots of room (and fantastic porches) where children can play or adults can relax. We especially loved the large family and dining room. We easily discovered the old, raspberry filled road which leads down to the lake and found the walk to town to be easy enough for our young daughter. It was a wonderful home base to return to after a long day hiking.

I selected the cottage especially for my in-laws and they were absolutely thrilled with it too. My mother-in-law has been vacationing in the area for nearly forty years and it has the the type of old vintage charm she loves, while being completely modern and updated.

The owners were very nice and easy to work with too. If we need a cottage this size in the future, we would happily rent it again.

Great House for a Memorial Day Weekend Getaway

  • 4 of 5
We booked this house after viewing photos of the property, recognized its close proximity to Lake Placid village and felt the nightly rate was very reasonable. This house is easy walking distance to the backside of Mirror Lake, but we drove to the village most times. The house was fantastic, as everything was very clean and prepared for our arrival. From stocked firewood, to magazines for local attractions, this house had it all. What was most appealing was each bedroom had it's own bathroom. The only knock was initially finding the house, which confused our GPS, and the distance to the village was just a bit out of walking range for what we felt comfortable walking. We would recommend this property to anyone staying in Lake Placid, no matter the season. We would absolutely stay here again!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and that you would consider Juniper the next time you visit Lake Placid. Using GPS can be difficult when arriving due to the numerous private roads that meander through the woods surrounding Juniper. The best access is to enter the Lake Placid Club at the Lake Placid Way intersection of Mirror Lake Drive. Follow Lake Placid Way for .5 Miles and turn left at the Juniper sign.

Perfect Adirondack Rental Cottage

  • 5 of 5
There is nothing not to like about this quaint cottage in the woods with a true Adirondack feel. The home was clean, well-equipped and perfectly cozy for our wintry getaway. The homeowners were very responsive and easy to work with. It is in close proximity to everything Lake Placid has to offer, but sits privately in a serene, wooded setting. We, too, have high standards for rental properties and would definitely recommend this to others as well as stay there again.

Beatiful Cottage in the Woods

  • 5 of 5
This was our first time renting a house in Lake Placid after doing 3 trips per year for 4 years. We will never go back to staying in a hotel! Although the house feels secluded, it is in a very convenient location with respect to town while still feeling private. The owners clearly take great pride in their vacation home as it is has the look and feel of a high-end bed and breakfast as opposed to a rental property. No detail has been overlooked down to instructions on using the printer. My family and I have some pretty high standards when it comes to vacation accommodations and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great time, quiet wonderful location

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was truely a delightful find. We went up Columbus Day weekend to hike Big Slide and all seven of us were thrilled with the accomodations. The great room was wonderful place to hang out and make the final plans for our hike. The beds were so very comfy everyone woke up well rested and ready to go at 5:30 am. Upon our return that evening we loved the four bathrooms to clean up in which left plenty of time to toast our accomplishment. We had hoped to build a camp fire and snuggle in the cozy blankets Eric and Leanne had provided for just that purpose but found the wine and the beds too compelling. Next time! Yes, we will be back!

Great Lake Placid Cottage

  • 5 of 5
Lake Placid is really a special place and this is a perfect rental. It's not large but easily held our 8 adults very comfortably because there's a big open living room with a nice fireplace and a separate dining area. We stayed up a little too late enjoying the outdoor fire pit; you're in the woods and it feels quite private even though you are a 2 minute walk down to Mirror Lake, on the side opposite town. No need to drive to get into town / shopping / restaurants / bars or the 3 mile loop around the Lake. Great spot!
