Very comfortable spacious lounge, leather sofas, TV with sky sports+ Movies package, CD player, DVD player + approx 40 dvd's. Video player + Videos

The kitchen has electric oven, combination microwave, fridge/ freezer, toaster, electric kettle, washing machine, ample pots and pans, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils,dishes etc.Seperate Dining room with table & chairs, Sofa Bed, TV with Video player plus various Video casettes. Bathroom with separate shower, bath, wc & mirrors. 2 double bedrooms with wardrobe and drawers, reading lamps.Linen included (towels & bed linen but not beach towels). Hairdryer. The single futon is on the large Mezzanine, book case with various books & games & a stair gate. There is a courtyard garden with a terrace for dining, patio table & chairs, barbeque, washing line & off road parking. The bakery, grocery store, Tabac/Sports Bar, post office & hairdressers are just 2mins walk. All set in a delightful farming village close to Fontenay le Comte, in the beautiful Vendee. Close to various beaches, golf courses, fishing lakes, horseriding stables, chateau's, childrens theme parks etc. La Rochelle is 35mins drive away.

Poppy Cottage is the Ideal base to explore the area, close to beaches, childrens Theme Parks, various golf courses, fishing lakes etc. Marans has small boats for hire, take a picnic and unwind. Or if shopping is your pastime, La Rochelle is close by, lots of individual shops with lots of style, rest those tired feet at one of the superb restaurants or bars on the Port. Cross the bridge to L'ile de Ré and sample the fantastic fish restaurents, superb beaches, walks, cycle hire, or simply a coffee or Ice cream, whatever you fancy. You might even spot a famous face or two as the island is a favourite amongst the rich & famous.

Fontenay Le comte is a very historic Town, amble down the back streets to find art galleries, the ancient water spring, the Chateau de Terre Neuve, is well worth a visit.

Excellent quality central village location

We stayed for a scorching week in August and in addition to a couple of fantastic trips to the sea we explored towns and villages such Fontenay Le Comte and Vouvant. The kids loved the games and movies. My 12 year old daughter took over the mezzanine and my 6 year old learned to ride his bike in the quiet churchyard behind the house. A lovely clean cottage which I would definitely recommend.

Quiet and relaxing in a rural location

This is a good place to stay in the Vendee close to the town of Fontenay-Le-Comte and about 45 minutes from La Rochelle. We enjoyed the lounge area - light and cool - and the facilities are very good, including the bedrooms - very comfy beds! Even though it was quite hot, the house remained at a good temperature, in particular downstairs. The outside area is nice and it's good to have a place to eat and relax (wasps were a pest but I guess that's August!). Good facilities nearby, including the boulangerie, but it was unfortunately closed for most of our stay as the owner went on holiday. Favourite places were La Rochelle - try 'L'Aunis' on Rue St Jean du Perot for a really lovely dinner. L'Ile de Re, too - great to relax on the beach and enjoy a meal in St Martin de Re. We also liked Vouvant and Mervent. It would have been nice to have some recommendations for local restaurants - in particular, auberges. We had a superb dinner at 'Ferme Auberge de Melusine' in St Michel le Cloucq but you have to book here to eat - and all the food is grown on the owner's farm/ reared there - lovely. This is a good place to stay in a rural part of France but near to other attractions if this is what you want.

Lovely Cottage

We stayed at Poppy cottage in August for a week with our two young girls aged four and seven. The cottage was very clean, tidy and well equipped. Having two young children we found ourselves staying in in the evening, this was great because there was lots to do including a selection of board games, DVD’s, video's and even satellite TV. The Cottage is situated in a very French quiet little village which was an ideal location for visiting the more tourist areas like La Tranche sur mer - beautiful sandy beach. La Rochelle - lovely Port with lots of shops and bars. Vouvant - medieval town with lots of history. Mervent - superb place to eat by the lake.

WE ALL HAD A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY HIGHLY RECOMENDED ALREADY PLANNING TO GO BACK NEXT YEAR.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Great!
Poppy Cottage has everything one could possibly want in a gite and we had a great week there in July; four adults and a 10-year old boy. Unfortunately, the weather the first couple days was a little wet, but the fact that the gite had satellite tv and games meant that even being unable to explore the area wasn't a problem and when the weather cleared up we were able to visit La Rochelle, Fontenay-le-Comte and La Tranche-sur-Mer (A super place to visit with a great swimming pool) As well as being well located for visiting lots of interesting places, the gite is beautifully furnished, clean and well presented and with all modern conveniences. This really is a 5-Star establishment and the welcome pack a really nice touch. There isn't much going on in La Langon, so don't go there seeking night life, but as a base it is excellent for seeing the wider area and one would be hard pressed to find a nicer gite. Highly recommended!
