This 3 bedroom, 2 bath has the finest in ‘old Hawaiian’ furnishings with gorgeous garden views from the front porch. A collection of both local art and international pieces enhance the overall experience of the Ohana.
Original craftsman style doors and windows exude the charm of the Ohana complete with beautiful 3” plank hardwood floors throughout, breath-taking front porch views with wood beams and classic Hawaiian floral motif, large gas BBQ offers ideal outdoor living, 300-thread count linens, birds and the noise of nature fill the air with fresh cool breezes.
The Ohana is flush with mature landscaping: large cypress trees, sego palms, bamboo, climbing monstera vines, colorful bougainvilleas, red berries, birds of paradise, gardenias, hibiscus, camellias, iris’s, lilies, a gorgeous fruit producing avocado tree and other indigenous plants throughout. Trails for walks, runs or mountain hikes are footsteps away. Star-gazing is unmatched in this location.
Please note: This home caters to Observatory visitors and HPA & Parker school families. Note: the Ohana is located on a larger property, a short distance from the main house which is occupied year-round by the owners who have two friendly Labradoodle dogs in a secure fenced area.
We relocated to Waimea (Kamuela) 13 years ago from San Francisco. Prior to moving to the Big Island, I had been in the Hotel Industry for many years, representing small luxury hotels around the world. When we moved to this property a few years ago, I refurbished our 1932 Paniolo Guest House, or Ohana as a vacation rental. As an avid traveller myself, I created a warm, inviting and tropical residence reflecting the beauty and spirit of Hawaii. I want you to walk in to our Ohana, and hula out! I had walked by this home for the first time 8 years ago. I fell in love with the entire property. The beautiful lush and mature landscaping, the original hitching post in front of the Ohana where the Paniolos would tie up their horses, the majestic Monsterra creeping 1/2 way up 100 year old cypress trees are just several reasons I fell in love with it. Our Ohana is a perfect private setting for a guest residence. The Ohana sits at the base of our property , it is very private and secluded from the main house. This area of Waimea, coincidentally, is referred to as Nob Hill. We feel it is the most beautiful area in Waimea. We are walking distance to town and the Farmers Markets, beautiful hiking trails are around the corner, and it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get to the the Mauna Kea and Hapuna beaches, both beaches are world class. With all the traveling I have done in my lifetime, the Mauna Kea beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. We are in the mountains, surrounded by the famous Parker Ranch, most of the year you can hear the cows that still graze on Parker Ranch. Waimea is located between Hilo and Kona, so both sides of the island are easily accessible. The climate in Waimea is perfect, cooler evenings and mornings, occasional afternoon misty rains, and beautiful sunny days! You can take a day trip to the Volcano, or visit Hawii (pronounced Havi) and go zip lining, or drive to Green Sand beaches past Kona, any island adventure is possible from this location.
Nestled amongst gorgeous vegetation and huge eucalyptus trees, this old world bungalow is complete with classic Hawaiian flavor and feel. Cool and quiet, we found the home to be extremely comfortable and charming. The kitchen is fully stocked and the linens are fabulous! Only minutes from town, you can walk to lunch/dinner at one of Waimea's finest restaurants and or take a 15 minute drive to the best resort on the island. No regrets!
This cottage is an ideal setting for peace and tranquility with all the comforts and amenities of home. Nicely appointed, clean, quiet with a pleasant airy feel. Begin each morning sitting on the front porch, sipping a cup of Kona coffee while enjoying a papaya from the nearby local Waimea farmer's market. The setting is spectacular. This is a lovely vacation spot not to be missed! The excellent wifi is an added bonus. I would highly recommend this property whether traveling alone, with family or friends.
Located in Kamuela (Waimea). Most ocean activities are a short 15 minute scenic drive to the coast. Quiet upscale neighborhood, lush gardens surroundings, walk into town, hiking trails, walk to our fabulous farmers market at Parker School, or the Hawaiian Homeland Farmers Market is a short drive. Centrally located on the Big Island.
