The Château is 18th century and is built in solid stone it is very cool in the summer and does not take long to get lovely and warm in the winter months... It is a very cosy house... There is a topical swimming pool on the right hand size on the way to Vire which is very popular in the Winter. Also indoor swimming pool with water shoots in Conde Sur Noireau.

Netto is a great Supermarket on the way to Conde Sur Noireau it is brand new. Also the nearest is Careforre 3 mins away from The Chateau. The Calvados Brandy is also excellent in black coffee and should be tried too. I also love the house in the Summer because you can hear the crickets in the Summer when you arrive and the owl in the Winter.

About Sharon Buckley

My dream was always to buy a lovely house in France. But didn't imagine buying a Manor House but I definitely fulfilled my dream. I am a single lady with an ambition and achieved it. I often go to France with my Parents who help maintain the house and there is plenty of space for all of us. It is my dream house and I love my bedroom (Master Bedroom) it definitely has the WOW FACTOR. I can't see me ever selling this Beautiful Home.

Sharon Buckley purchased this chateau / country house in 2006

Why Sharon Buckley chose Vassy

I brought this house for me to live in and run a Bed and Breakfast but decided in the end to rent out the whole house. Then stay in the UK and work because I have a job where I get 15 weeks holiday a year. So there is always plenty of time for holidays. But I am finding it difficult to book myself in the house because it is very popular with guests. The whole house is newly renovated with lovely french style beds.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

I love the whole house. The living room is big with lovely fireplace. The Hallway is beautiful with decorated ceilings and lovely staircase. The kitchen is big with a range. The dinning room is great for entertaining. My bedroom (Master) has the WOW FACTOR. Also with dressing room. Big family bathroom as well. We love sitting outside on a hot summers evening with Heart FM on in the background.

Guestbook comments from the manager

During our stay we enjoyed every minute of it. The house is so so relaxing and has a lovely atmosphere in it. The summer the house is cool and the winter the house is warm. Because it is ganite. We are planning our fourth visit to the Chateau because it is so very comfortable and lots of space for children to run around. There are two televisions there. We used one for the children and one for ourselves. Sharon has thought of everything we need there. Even to the extent of ladders to get the car roof box off. We would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a lovely house. I would love to buy the house if I won the lottery and have fallen in love with it..

A wonderful week in this wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5
Before we arrived at this rental, I looked quite a few times at the pictures of the exterior and interior online. It is even more spectacular in person! We were three retired couples sharing this chateau, and we had more than enough privacy. The bathrooms are modern and two bedrooms had their own ensuite bathrooms. We loved the area, too. It was quiet, yet close to a lovely town where we bought chocolate croissants every morning for breakfast! We visited Mont St. Michel, the Normandy beaches, Bayeux, nearby markets, and ate in great restaurants.
We prepared dinners in the well equipped kitchen and ate in the large and lovely dining room.
I cannot say enough about what a great time we had staying at this chateau.
It was also a delight corresponding with its owner, Sharon Buckley.

A Most Delightful Stay at Chateau de Bremesnil

  • 5 of 5
It all seemed too good to be true. Until the key we had been sent opened the door and we walked in to find the house every bit as spacious and attractive as it appeared on the website, was I certain we had not made an error in booking. The rooms were indeed all very large, bright and very comfortable. The house was definitely as good as advertised - and larger and brighter than expected. The 2 large master bedrooms were complete with a modern en suite bathroom, one even had a dressing room. Both had comfortable king beds. The 2 other bedrooms had 2 twin beds and there is a very large bright shared family bathroom. We found the large kitchen very well equipped, the dishes pleasing and plentiful - kitchen amenities includes a gas stove, a dishwasher, a large table for family breakfast. In addition, there is an enormous dining room for relaxed evening meals. If preferred, there is also an outdoor table and chairs for 8. With darkness falling at 10 during our stay, we enjoyed sitting here a few evenings reliving the events of our day with a glass of wine or cider.

We were a family of six - 3 generations - grandparents, parents and 2 girls - 12 and 15. The 12 year old actually celebrated her birthday there.

In this spacious house we all felt we had the freedom to be alone or with family - to wander out of doors, or just sit in one of the comfortable chairs in the sitting room.

Set on a large property in a beautiful rural area, the house is only minutes from several lovely historic villages with access to supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, pharmacies, dining, gas, etc. There is so much to explore and enjoy! During our stay of a week, we used the chateau as a base to explore much of Normandy and a small bit of Brittany. Our explorations included - the D-Day Beaches (including the towns, museums and cemeteries). We visited Bayeux, Caen, Rouen, Honfleur, Mont St. Michel, St.Malo, etc. To visit Normandy had been the motivation for our visit, and to be located within a reasonable drive of places we hoped to visit had been an important consideration. Sometimes the drives were a couple of hours, but we did several things each time. The bonus, we got to know and enjoy Normandy.

We loved the house and the region and hope we will return another time to Normandy, to stay again, of course, at Chateau de Bremesnil.
Thank you Sharon for sharing your lovely Normandy home with us.

Owner's Response: Thank you so so much for your review. All my holidays I spend in France at The Chateau we have wonderful French neighbours who come out to lunch with us and come around for appertif and evening in eating and drinking. The house has a lovely atmosphere and I love my bedroom with the dressing room area. Everything in the house has the WOW factor especially with the music on.
Thank you again for a wonderful review.

Yes you really do get all of it!

  • 5 of 5
Our first thoughts when thinking of booking this property was as to which bit of the building was rented out.but what you see in the picture is indeed what you get. The house is enormous and yet still manages to maintain a homely feel. The owner has obviously renovated the property with lots of love and our family enjoyed every minute of our stay. The two en suite rooms are beautiful, the lounge very cosy with a wonderful fireplace and the kitchen very well equipped. Outside the gardens offer lots of interest with some lovely views accross the valley. (Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try out the bbq.
Vassy is a couple of miles away with all the necessary amenities and an excellent boulangerie if you like fresh croissants for breakfast and the Carrefour supermarket on the edge of town is less than a 5 minute drive away.
Local attractions to visit are the nearby village of Clecy where kayaking is available and the beautiful medieval hilltop town of Domfront. Mont St Michel and the Normandy beaches are about a 90 minute drive away.
The Restaurant des Amis in Moncy, about 3 miles away, is very welcoming and excellent value but you do need to book particularly on a Sunday for lunch.
All in all Chateau Bremesnil is a great place to holiday and will not disappoint.
