WALK TO DOWNTOWN, SIDE "A". SUNNY AND BRIGHT! WI-FI, QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD.

Asheville House Rental Photos and Description

Sunny, clean, bright and new! Close to downtown Asheville in a quiet neighborhood. Side A of a duplex with 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths.

This side-by-side Asheville duplex has long been a favorite of mine. Before I bought it, I used to drive by and just look at it. I was attracted by its location, its sturdy, green-built construction, its spacious and sunny layout and its roomy, clean design. It is a fairly new building, and we converted it to a vacation rental in the summer of 2013.

The location is surprisingly quiet, and looking at a map you might expect a lot of highway noise. But a high embankment muffles the sound, so the area is very peaceful. It is a little enclave with no direct connection to other neighborhoods, and there is very little traffic. It is an easy walk to the Visitor's Center and downtown, but the scenery along the service road is not especially appealing. So most guests make the 30 second drive to the Visitor's Center, and walk or ride from there. To get downtown plan on a two to five minute drive.

The building is a side-by-side duplex. Both sides have an identical three-level floor plan, but they are different because on side A, the caretaker, Heidi, lives on the lower level. On side B, a huge tiled bedroom, a full bath, and laundry facilities are available to you. On both sides the upper level features two carpeted bedrooms with a bathroom in between. The beds are brand new and are some of the most comfortable you will ever experience. Our guests LOVE them and we have put the same brand in most of our other rentals.

The main level is where you enter. Here you will find the living room, the kitchen, a half bath, a dining nook and a back deck. Floors are hardwood and tile. There is a flat screen TV mounted on the living room wall between the bookshelves. On side A you will find a sleeper sofa that opens up to a full size bed. The open floor plan allows you to enjoy your family and friends while you cook. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans and utensils.

Our caretaker, Heidi, is there to help you with any questions or concerns. She lives downstairs in side A and is happy to help if you need anything.

If you have a large group you can rent both sides. You can sleep up to 12 if two people use the sleeper sofa on side A.

Parking in the front is a little tight but two cars can fit if you park at an angle. The parking area can get muddy but we plan to expand it a bit and lay some stone. If you're staying on side B you can drive around to the back but we recommend you don't take a vehicle with low clearance back there because the gravel road has some uneven spots.

Please be aware that the neighborhood has residents of various income levels and is close to downtown. Occasionally a guest has mentioned this so please take it into consideration. The area is quite safe and we have always gotten along with the neighbors. We want our guests to have a good experience and to be happy, so please feel free to call or email us if you have any questions! Please visit our web site at PeteKey dot com for more information.

I am a real estate investor and real estate agent in the Asheville area. I love creating spaces where people can feel at home while they are enjoying their vacation.

Pete Kuehne purchased this house in 2008

I fell in love with this house the first time I saw it, and I wondered how I could build one just like it. One day it came up for sale and I just jumped on it! I am always looking for properties in Asheville, the closer to downtown the better. This house was a perfect investment, although I admit I allowed my emotions to play a bigger role than usual. I probably overpaid, but I couldn't resist. It was almost brand new. The neighborhood is great and getting better. It's right down the street from the Visitor's Center! And in my heart I feel that the long term value of real estate in Asheville is going through the roof. So this was a great addition to my portfolio.

No other neighborhood in Asheville is this close to downtown, yet so quiet and peaceful. The neighborhood is a small development in an area that is surrounded by trees. The surrounding property can't be developed further so we are assured of privacy. The setting is quiet and peaceful, and there is almost no traffic because we are on a little circular roadway that serves only the houses on our street. This house is the perfect balance between being right downtown and being in a quiet neighborhood.

Reviewer Comments:
This property has a great "I'm Home!" feeling to it. It was the perfect size for us. (2 Adults, 1 child.) The house was clean and welcoming. A two story duplex with the bedrooms and bath/shower upstairs, and a half bath conveniently on the main level. The open floor plan allows it to feel plenty roomy. It was very clean, convenient and, despite the location being near the interchange on the interstate, was very quiet and peaceful. There was building construction going on and that was fascinating to watch the progress they were making. Overall it was a great place to stay.

GREAT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Rented both sides of the duplex with friends for a long weekend in Asheville. Clean, comfortable, and a short (10-15 minute) walk to downtown. WiFi worked fine for us. Cooked-in one evening and found appliances worked fine and it was enjoyable to sit on deck. A few minor things - 1 recycle bin for both sides, no wastebaskets in bedroom/downstairs bath, no dish towels - but nothing insurmountable. Would stay here again!

we loved staying here!!! It was very close to downtown. One night, we walked and it was just 0.9 miles and only took us about 15 minutes to walk to Tupelo Honey restaurant. The next night we took a cab and it only cost us about $6 total. The house was super clean and decorated really cute. Beds were comfy also! We will definitely stay here again.

COMFORTABLE

  • 4 of 5
My partner and I enjoyed staying here very much. It was very comfortable and close to downtown. We LOVED most of the art work as well :)

However, in a few closets and dressers, there seemed to be random pillows and clothes that could have belonged to other renters? It just needs some spring cleaning....especially all the blinds.
We would definitely recommend this house and look forward to staying next time we return to Asheville! ^.^

My husband and I went with another couple for three nights in Asheville. I love the location of the property because it is an easy walk to downtown. The property was nice and clean. Wi-Fi worked great. I was a little worried that there might be noise from the interstate being close to the property, but we didn't hear any traffic at all. Our only issue was there was only one washcloth and only three towels when we checked in, even know we stated there were four of us renting the property. I called management to let them know and then we went out. When we got back from downtown, we had a bag of fresh towels and washcloths. Problem solved!

I would definetly recommend this property to people who don't mind the short walk to downtown. It took us about 10 minute, tops.
