The Jordaan is the most picturesque 17th century part of Amsterdam. Public transportation is around the corner, but of course 2 bikes available for your personal sightseeing.
Guests who stayed at Frances' place just loved it!
Frances' hospitality and excellent accommodations made my first trip to Amsterdam (Jan. 14-17) very pleasant and memorable. Shops in the area are fun and interesting, restaurants are delightful. I look forward to a return trip. Dank u Frances!
Our short break at Frances was wonderful! A very cute funny and simple woman and a comfortable accommodation to stay in the most beautiful area of Amsterdam. The bed was fantastic and we slept very well. To use the bikes was great and we had a lot of fun! We will definitely come here again for the next Amsterdam trip;)
This was ou 2nd time in Amsterdam and our Honeymoon and Frances made our experience wonderful! She is a lovely host and so very helpful!! We really recommend this cute little apartment in the best part of town and close to everything, it has everything you need and the space is just right and Frances makes everything better!
This is now the second time we have stayed with Frances and I would recommend the property wholeheartedly! If you are looking for an affordable place to stay in the loveliest part of town this is it. It may be bijou but it is very comfortable and has everything you need. Frances is the perfect host and makes your stay even more enjoyable. Can't ait for the third trip! :)
if you're looking for v good value one/two person accommodation in one of the most wonderful, picturesque, and lively (in a civilised, old days way, no crappy foreign style theme bars in this locale, thank god!) parts (The Joordaan) of an already wonderful city, and ONLY ten minutes walk from the 'Centrum' (if that's your thing!) THEN THIS' IS FOR YOU. The tea and coffee making facilities, plus fridge, are the sole kitchen facilities, but no prob for us we don't visit Amsterdam to cook, we go out to eat, including breakfasts, Dutch style! The bed-sit is small, but we travel light and are happy to live out of our baggage! The en-suite bath/shower is wonderful, a BIG bath, and all scrupulously clean (the flat, including our host's quarters, were completely redone less than two years ago, which included installation of UNDER-FLOOR heating!). And the final cherry on the cake, our wonderful hostess. Frances is the nicest, most laidback person you'll ever likely to meet (after your own wife/hubby, of course?), and if you don't get an invite into her place for many chats then there is something wrong with YOU. Frances is still a working girl, she runs her own music business, but if you're new to Amsterdam she'll look after you, with advice, cost-saving tips (she's a bit of a discount coupon voucher nut but the coupons she saves will save you money on the various attractions. She knows the best local restaurants, and though she is teetotal herself she was still able to point us to the local bar that suited us! Finally, if you're a smoker, you are in smoking heaven, because Frances has yet to beat the habit, so, though obviously no smoking allowed in the holiday accommodation!, you should get an invite to practise our disgusting habit in her quarters. And her own place is wonderful to behold, all white, minimalist, art deco with some very interesting art work including a Graeco/Romano style Bachhanalian Satyr or Fawn bronze. And all, currently, for SIXTY EUROS a night! We hope to return many times.
Not a large room, but enough for 2 people to enjoy Amsterdam. Bed is comfi, tv is present, coffee machine for the first energy shot of the day. We could also surf the web on a broadband wifi connection and the bathroom exists of a bath with shower.
The best part is the wonderful location in the middle of the Jordaan. Also the host Frances is very nice and gives you an update of all the best hotspots in the neighbourhood.
We will return to this place in Amsterdam very soon!
The best bars en restaurants around the corner! Besides this, please don't forget to visit our beautiful museums like Van Gogh, Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, etc, all not far off. :)
For Amsterdam quite rare: groundfloor apartment, no stairs!
