The Jordaan is the most picturesque 17th century part of Amsterdam. Public transportation is around the corner, but of course 2 bikes available for your personal sightseeing.
Guests who stayed at Frances' place just loved it!
We spent 3 nights here while visiting Amsterdam. The location makes for easy access to the city and all the fun it offers. Frances was very friendly and provided excellent city and restaurant recommendations. She had 2 bikes available for our stay (although if you don't know where you are going, biking may not be the way to get there), maps, wi-fi and linens were provided. There was a small dorm size refrigerator, coffee maker, tea kettle and supplies available for use. The pictures of the space are accurate; the bedroom is small but functional with an sink and tub/shower attached. The WC is shared with the owner and located across a shared foyer area that allows access to the rental room and Frances' home. The guest space is non-smoking but Frances smokes so if you are sensitive to smoke this may not be the rental for you. Great neighborhood with a local cafe for light meals or coffee. Much better value then a hotel.
We had a great time staying with Frances. The neighbourhood (Jordaan) is lively and friendly, packed with locals. There are lots of useful stores, banks, pubs, restaurants within a few short minutes walk. The location is about 15-20 minutes walk (without bags) or €10-12 cab ride from Amsterdam Centraal Station. The room is private, nice, comfortable and clean, The room is smaller (it's a bedroom, not a hotel room!) but that was irrelevant, my husband and I had enough bulky luggage to last 3 weeks in Europe and never did we feel cramped in the room or like we didn't have enough space. to move around or lay out our things. We had lots of space to maneuver about. The room has an adjoined "bathroom" though it's only a bathtub/shower and sink - the toilet is in a separate toilet room in the hallway (as is customary in Dutch culture). There was a small fridge, a coffee machine and a kettle and there was coffee/tea/cream/sugar etc available for us during our stay.
Two bikes were available and worked just fine for us to travel around the city. We went everywhere by bike and found nothing to be very far away. If you are walking everything is still pretty close, though obviously feet move slower than bikes. There is also a intricate tram network if you prefer to figure out and use transit.
We will definitely stay here again next time we're in the city!
Thank you Frances!!
Frances' hospitality and excellent accommodations made my first trip to Amsterdam (Jan. 14-17) very pleasant and memorable. Shops in the area are fun and interesting, restaurants are delightful. I look forward to a return trip. Dank u Frances!
Our short break at Frances was wonderful! A very cute funny and simple woman and a comfortable accommodation to stay in the most beautiful area of Amsterdam. The bed was fantastic and we slept very well. To use the bikes was great and we had a lot of fun! We will definitely come here again for the next Amsterdam trip;)
