While Pam and I grew up in New York State, this is our ideal place to be due to the location, the quality of the home and the sense of peace you feel here. I'm a graduate of Cornell, Pam of Manhattanville College and we both have masters from Syracuse. Our careers took us to Rochester, Sacramento and now Scottsdale. We love being at the lake - plenty of space to spread out and entertain family and friends in comfort! We have furnished the home with many antiques from our families as well as personal momentos. You will love this location as we do!

Tom Billard purchased this house in 2001

When we built the home in 2002 ( my Dad bought the old fishing cottage that dated back to the 1920s in 1968) we wanted to capitalize on the private location - end of the road and water on three sides. Unlike many other lake properties, this is totally private and secluded. Looking to the south, all you see is water and the beautiful, ever lasting hills. The lake is relatively small so most boaters are in canoes, on boards or in small watercraft. Sit on the porch (take your pick of one of four) and wave to those going by - it is so peaceful. When we built the house, we incorporated the old claw foot bathtub from the old cottage as well as four Tompkins County grilles in the overlook; our objective has been to provide our guests a comfortable, relaxing experience. We've had the property going on 50 years; we love to share it with our guests. It is like 'On Golden Pond.'

The porches are great - perfect for entertaining. On a cool evening, enjoy a fire while watching TV or reading a book. The wireless is perfect for your PC or ipad; take it anywhere. The adults can be downstairs while the kids can watch videos or play games upstairs. Go for a row and explore the lake? Lots of nooks and crannies here to explore, especially all the old cottages at the north end of the lake. While we are secluded, we are a short, scenic 25 minutes from Skaneateles and Syracuse - all the dining and entertainment you might want.

Relaxing week on the water

  • 5 of 5
My friends and family and I had a wonderful stay on Tully Lake! The house is filled with a ton of amenities-cable TV, a Jacuzzi tub, a/c, a full kitchen but your surrounded by nature everywhere you look. The house sits on the end of a private drive so it very serene and peaceful. We even had pre teens with us for a few days and having the upstairs area with twin beds and family room was wonderful as it gave the kids their own space and helped keep the noise level to a minimum. All of us, especially the kids enjoyed being able to go on the lake in the canoe and rowboat! I really appreciated use of the bikes. I hadn't been on one in years but loved exploring the area on two wheels. I would highly recommend this vacation property to everyone!

Excellent Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5
This was our first time vacationing in the Finger Lakes so we really weren't sure what to expect. Our stay on Tully Lake at 'on Golden Pond' far exceeded all our expectations and hopes. The location is amazingly beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed quality family time and lots of time outdoors...including hiking and fishing (for hours and hours). The house is beautiful, comfortable and clean. Tom was great to work with and communicated regularly and was concerned for our overall satisfaction. My family is already making plans to return next year.

Our Best Stay at the Finger Lakes!

  • 5 of 5
What a setting, what a house! My husband and I were looking for a Spring long-weekend getaway. We loved the photos of this cottage that we saw on VRBO -- but they paled in comparison to actually being there. It not only met, but exceeded all of our expectations. We had stayed at other places on several of the Finger Lakes, but never found anything as comfortable, charming and well-equipped as this home. It was light and bright, with lovely views in every direction; the kitchen had everything one could need; and the furnishings were a wonderful blend of antiques and modern amenities. Our stay was short, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Peaceful, Serene and completely Relaxing

  • 5 of 5
Tucked away and surrounded by plenty of farmland and mountain scenes this place was "just what the doctor ordered"!
If you're looking for a quiet out of the way place this is definitely it. The home was very comfortable and an added bonus was the relaxing Jacuzzi that I didn't see listed.
We arrived just before the trees started to lose their leaves !
There are plenty of hiking places within a short drive and fishing right off the shoreline.
We took a day trip up to Ithaca and Taughannock Falls, just beautiful !
We've rented a few places and found the owners of this wonderful place to not only be accommodating but very concerned for our comfort, calling upon our arrival and connecting once again upon our departure. I even interrupted him during a meeting and he took the time to give me directions (maps are wonderful things )
We are planning to go back in Nov. for a family gathering and hope to make it again next year.
Note of thanks to the owner for letting us share this relaxing home.

Tranquil lake experience

  • 5 of 5
As soon as we turned into the hemlock grove onto St Charles Bay Road the high-speed-highway tension began to drain from our bodies. A moment later we saw the cottage surrounded by the pastel waters of Tully Lake. The cattails and water lilies exuded the peace and tranquility promised by the internet description.
Even through an intense evening of thunderstorms, the cottage was snug and tranquil. Thanks to its location on the end of the peninsula, every window had its own vista of woods and water. And the four porches each had a distinctive view; the swing on the south porch was usually taken. It was bright and cheery within; the two skylights in the cathedral ceiling of the spacious living room were marvelous. We watched flights of geese pass over at dawn and return near sunset. River otter, deer, and ducks also added to our continual enjoyment. Lunches at the picnic table, steaks on the barbie, and breakfasts in the kitchen nook added to our sense of well-being.
We lacked for nothing. We made good use of the wine glasses, the full range of cutlery, and the cast iron skillets for our breakfast bacon. The eclectic collection of art and history displayed on the walls made us feel as if we belonged. I especially liked the picture of the original cabin, and the Otisco Quadrangle map made a senior geologist feel right at home. My favorite room was the Blue Room on the first floor. The prints that hung over the bed, were duplicates of those in my mother’s bedroom in the 1940’s and 50’s. Mom also had a collection of Danish Christmas Plates like the one on the shelf. But, had I been a bachelor, I would have happily chosen the homey sleeping loft above the living room.
But this was a lake experience. We made good use of the row boat for fishing and took several canoe voyages into St Charles Bay, and through the reeds to the lower lake. The friendly neighbors waved as we passed bye. It brought back memories of my grandparents’ summer cottage on Cranberry Lake, near Newton, New Jersey. But Tully Lake is special. It is a kettle lake created when ice melted in the outwash from the last glacier to invade the Tully Valley. It is the meeting place for trees of the southern and northern forests. And it is tranquil.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review - you hit on many of the things we like to do at the lake: enjoy the peace and serenity of the lake, relax on the decks and just enjoy the home. We have furnished it with many antiques and artifacts from our families; we're glad you enjoyed them and the family atmosphere. Thanks also for the geology lesson, the glaciers stopped in Tully! There is a lot of history here.

Lovely house and property on lake. Very quiet and serene. We had a wonderful family vacation here, great for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Close to all Syracuse area activities yet very private and quiet location. Lovely town beach close by for those with young children. Owners very accommodating and thoughtful.
