Are you ready for the island? ‘Schenkenau’ is the reminiscence of a remote time. It is located on the picturesque river island in Itzgrund, between Coburg and Bamberg, Bad Staffelstein, Ebern and Seßlach. ‘Schenkenau’ invites you to relax. Comfortable accommodations in a timbered house, by Itz. The apartments have approx. 85 m². They have 2-3 bedrooms, living room, eat-in kitchen and bathroom. You should experience nature. It has a central location, between the Natural Park Hassberge and the Upper Main Valley - Coburger Land. The ‘Schenkenau’ is the ideal starting point for hiking, biking, riding, fishing, canoeing, and climbing. The culture lovers can visit the close old Bamberg (World Culture Heritage), the basilica Vierzehnheiligen (40 Saints), the monastery Banz, the residence Coburg, with its Veste, and the castles Callenberg und Rosenau. The golf course and the wild park castle Tambach, with its museum, can be reached in 16 km. The hot springs in Bad Staffelstein are 9 km away.

This apartment is located on the ground floor, in the part of the house on Itz. It has 2 bedrooms, bathroom WC with windows, living room, kitchen with dining corner and a seating place on the bank of the river. The beds in the children room can be also used by adults, if needed. The kitchen is equipped with a 3 star freezer in the refrigerator and dish washer. The bathroom has a window. Hair dryer is available. Breakfast service is available, on request. The renters of a vacation apartment can come to the breakfast buffet (8 Euros per day) if other guests of the country house have booked the breakfast as well. There is a large children playground, as well as a tennis court and a football area. You can ride a boat on the river. You can also bring your own raft, or you can rent a canoe in the neighbouring town. You can fish for pike, pickerel, trout, carp, nase, barb, perch and tench.

‚Schenkenau’ is located in the middle of Itzgrund, in the Itz floodplain. The agriculturally featured place traces back to the land reform, and it has several communities, which used to belong to the county of Staffelstein. Bad Staffelstein is one of the best choices among the hot spring resorts. You will enjoy excellent therapy and wellness offers. Itzgrund belongs to the county of Coburg, one of the traditional residence cities (with castles, burgs and a national theatre). In spite of its historical aspect, the city doesn’t miss modernity (Sabma Festival, Open Air on the Castle Square, etc.). The landscape is a pleasant mixture between wood and hills (Nature Park Hasseberge), and the rivers Main and Itz with their floodplains with kilometre long biking tracks and other sport possibilities. The flora is characterized by the balanced climate. Thanks to the good infrastructure, you can easily reach Bamberg and Bayreuth.
