Destiny (#4) is a 2- bedroom, 1-bath condo in our lovely little condo resort of Cruz Views. At Cruz Views there are only 10 units; 5 units have 1 bedroom/1 bath and the other five have two bedrooms/1 bath, with the second bedroom being a loft bedroom with a ships ladder access. Destiny is an oversized corner unit that is located on the upper level, above and to the left of the pool. When Cruz Views was built the private lender had the first choice of all 10 units and he choose Destiny, for its great location, excellent views and its total privacy on the east deck. The fabulous views include Cruz Bay, St. James, St. Thomas and other islands. At around 6 PM every night you get treated to a spectacular Caribbean sunset in the early evening, and later on the lights of St. Thomas and other islands twinkle in the distant sky. We frequently walk into town to dine at one of Cruz Bays superb restaurants, for it's an an easy 1/2 mile downhill walk into Cruz Bay. Sometimes we walk back to Destiny (all uphill), and sometimes we get lazy and a take a two minute cab ride. Either way, it's always a huge delight to return to our lovely home and sit on the deck and enjoy another peaceful St. John night, with the lights of St Thomas where we like to view them, across the sea in the western sky.

The interior of Destiny has a floor plan similar to the other 2 bedroom Cruz Views units with the living, dining and kitchen areas on the first floor, the master bedroom and bath on the 2nd floor, and the loft bedroom on the 3rd floor. Destiny has an a/c unit in both bedrooms, so even the loft bedroom stays cool. The kitchen is well equipped and there's everything you need for dining, including a gas grill on the pool deck below you. We stay at Destiny as much as we can so we're always thinking about ways to make our island home more comfortable and enjoyable. We also spend a lot of our own time doing hands on maintenance because we want the same for our guests as we like for ourselves - an attractive, well maintained and well cared for vacation home.

We came to St. John during a vacation to St. Thomas in the early 1980’s. The natural beauty and laid back character of St. John started our love affair with the island. Our next visit brought us to Cruz Views shortly after they were built. We began returning year after year. In the early years Cruz Views had no phone, TV or AC and screen windows had louvered shutters to keep the rain out. We loved the fresh air and the sounds of nature. By a stroke of good fortune we were able to purchase Destiny (CV4) in 1997. Interestingly, we had never rented this unit and had never even been inside it. The entire purchase took place via phone conversations, mail and newly emerging email. The closing took place in St. Thomas and we allowed our realtor to represent us as we could not be there. The purchase proceeded without a hitch and in October we arrived to see our new home. We had always stayed in lower units and we were immediately “blown away” by the view from our upper unit. Unfortunately, the unit needed a lot of TLC so we spent our first week painting walls, replacing beds etc. We began to visit to our new home several times a year and with each visit we were able to make additional improvements. The trick with ownership is figuring out how to combine work with pleasure. Fortunately, Judy and I enjoy working on our unit as much as enjoying the island.

CV4 is well suited to people with tastes like ours. We installed air conditioning in 2007 in a way that did not impinge on the existing windows. Being an end unit, we get wonderful natural ventilation from the trade winds and we wanted to preserve this wonderful feature. We have two decks. A private tree lined side deck for sunning and a shaded front deck for sipping drinks and enjoying the view. You will find our unit is just steps from the pool and that the pool is kept crystal clear without the use of chlorine.

Although the pool is not large by stateside standards it is never crowded and a great place to meet interesting people. Because our front deck overlooks the pool we found it a perfect place to keep an eye on our kids when they were in the pool. The view from our unit is among the best on the island with the shimmering turquoise water of Pillsbury Sound during the day, breathtaking sunsets in the evening and twinkling lights from St. Thomas at night. The beaches of St. John are like no others. Most are in coves protected from the surf. The sand is velvety soft and the warm water is crystal clear. Another plus for Destiny is its proximity to the restaurants and shops in nearby Cruz Bay. Although a short walk, you pay a little for your great views by having to walk up the hill to get home. You can always get a taxi to get back. A feature we particularly like about Destiny is the view of the ferries as they come and go. We can watch for a ferry to arrive and go and board it. We enjoy sharing “our place in the sun” with our guests and are delighted to get such positive reviews and so many returnees.

PERFECT CONDO ON THE PERFECT ISLAND

Cruz Views "Destiny" is an absolutely incredible place to stay. My girlfriend and I enjoyed 6 nights and 7 days in this amazing vacation condo. The views from the deck and living area are breathtaking, both day and night. The listing description is spot on - beautiful ocean views during the day, bright orange sunsets in the evening and sparkling sights of St. Thomas at night.

The condo itself has a great tropical/island vibe and is very well set up and accomadating, with everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. The furniture, including the bed, was very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and had a HUGE shower, which included a skylight, window, faux plants and a large bench that made it feel like an outdoor shower. You can tell this unit has been updated recently... the AC is a great feature and the appliances seem newer. Everything worked great.

Having visited St. John twice now, I can honestly say I loved the location of Cruz Views. The walk to town down the hill was super easy and cabs back to the unit were very cheap. Also, cab rides up the hill are a lot of fun! You'll understand once you stay here.

The pool and pool deck area were AWESOME. Although the pool looks small, it has a deep end that runs the length of the pool, so it's big enough to dive right in. We spent several evenings after coming back from the beach swimming in the pool and enjoying the sunset. We rarely saw anyone else using the pool and the weather was perfect throughout our entire trip.

Lastly, parking was very easy. There are several (off street) spots within a 20 yards of the unit.

I would highly reccomend staying at Cruz Views "Destiny" unit. The large deck, amazing views and great location blew away our expectations. You can tell this is a great spot after reading the guest logs and seeing how many people come back to this unit, year after year. We will be planning another trip to St. John and we will 100% be staying in Destiny the next time we're here.
