The only vacation rental home in Kolea with a totally unobstructed direct view of the beach and ocean! Designed and named Hale Nanea (House of Tranquility) by the home’s architect, this extraordinary oceanfront luxury home in the small gated community of Kolea at Waikoloa offers a tranquil tropical haven where guests can have it all.
Situated on Anaeho’omalu Bay (“A-Bay”), a scarce white sand beach with calm waters, this prime oceanfront location beckons one to shed their stress, relax, and enjoy tropical breezes, sights and sounds!
With irrefutably the best ocean frontage in Kolea, the home is surrounded by a gated entrance, tall lava rock walls and mature landscaping - providing complete privacy for over 4,500 sq. ft. of indoor living area, lanai and mature outdoor gardens.
The beautiful island-themed home opens to a large lanai and spectacular unobstructed views of the beach and ocean. Its spacious indoor area features Italian quarry tile floors (but all bedrooms are carpeted), relaxing living area with vaulted ceiling, separate dining area with a large dining table seating 10. Five well-appointed bedrooms sleep 10 - including 2 huge master suites flowing onto the lanai - and a private bathroom with each bedroom. Each bedroom has bedside tables, dressers, closet and flat screen TV. The additional half-bath allows use by all in a convenient location.
The oceanfront sliding glass walls throughout the home open to a large lanai with a cozy day-bed, cushioned teak lounge furniture, a shaded lounge area, BBQ gazebo center, and private infinity pool and spa.
The large gazebo BBQ center has an Italian quarry-tiled service counter, built-in gas grill, refrigerator, and large teak table with seating for 10. A lockable gate from the lanai leads directly to a private path to the beach. The home includes a 2-car garage with an overflow refrigerator) and assorted pool and beach equipment.
Just steps away, the Kolea Beach Club has a large community pool and spa, children’s sand-bottom pool with waterfall, and a fitness room. Less than a 5-minute walk outside the Kolea gate takes you to the Kings’ Shops and Queens’ Marketplace at Waikoloa Beach Resort – featuring gourmet restaurants, markets, shops (including Starbuck’s!) golf, nightlife – and even a luau. Stroll the nearby “Path of Kings” along the historical ponds in front of the home and learn their rich history from the petroglyphs and posted descriptions.
Wine country family-owned home, with another vrbo rental in wine country - contact us for more information on that one.
Elizabeth purchased this house in 2006
After 30 years of Kona vacationing it was finally time to take the plunge and have our own place, and recently decided to share it with vrbo renters. Oceanfront homes with a long white sand beach and easy ocean access are very rare!
Incredible, jaw-dropping views of the beach, ocean, swaying palms, tropical breezes - what more do you need?
“We are still coming down from the high of our beautiful Hawaiian vacation at the "House of Tranquility". We all had the best time and absolutely loved the house. It was so beautiful with the view of the lagoon and ocean from the pool and jacuzzi. The house was laid out so well too with such generous sized bedrooms.”
Amazing house in the perfect location! We were so fortunate to stay at the House of Tranquility for a week for our 10 year anniversary. We had a group of 5 couples and the house worked great for us. The views are amazing! We spent much of our time on the lanai. The pool, hot tub and outdoor kitchen were so great. Everyone that we worked with was so responsive, especially Caroline! She was awesome! We enjoyed walking over to Lava, Lava Beach Club for dinner and also to the Hilton. Another highlight for us was getting malasadas from Tex's drive inn. We loved them so much we went back 2 more times! So good! What an amazing piece of paradise this house is. We hope to come back! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Outstanding place!! Enjoyed every day we were there during this week and into 4th of July!! The views/sunsets/location/atmosphere was unmatched by anything we have done in vacationing so far. Close to all shopping and the Marriott Luau night on Wednesday night. Added bonus was watching July 4th fireworks display outside at the Lanai!! Super way to end our first week in the islands at this location.
Amenities are top notch and outdoor kitchen and eating area was used so frequently.
Best place ever!! We will be back!!
Lovely, lovely home. Our Big happy family enjoyed this home of all the homes we have stayed in, Kolea and Mana Lani. This was by far our favorite. The views from the pool are lovely. The house felt like home and was very comfortable. Every amenity was found.
Thank you for sharing your home. We hope to return.
Our family of four had the distinct privilege of staying in this luxurious home Mar-2014. The property is beyond beautiful and very spacious. The décor is elegant, the artwork is lovely, the appliances are superb, and the furniture is cozy. The Owners thought of every detail from the dishes and silverware to the margarita mixer and the fluffy linens to the fun pool toys. Beach towels, snorkel gear, and even laundry detergent, paper towels and dish detergent are stocked at the house for hassle-free living (and minimize what you have to purchase and/or pack in your suitcase). The location is ideal because it’s close to the Kolea community pools (even though we never used the community pool because the home has its’ own) and resort shops and stores (and Starbucks). Because the home is situated on the protected wildlife pools there isn’t the constant flow of pedestrian traffic in front like other homes in Kolea. Very quiet and private! My family rarely wanted to leave the House of Tranquility because it was so peaceful and fun! This was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation we’ll never forget because of the exquisite home and gorgeous location! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your sublime home!!!
Although this review is extremely late, we still remember this vacation as being one of the best we ever had. We stayed for 10 wonderful days over Thanksgiving - a party of five including three kids ages 9 to14.
The booking process was smooth with multiple emails to Elizabeth with questions she answered patiently including sending multiple pictures of the house to us. When we arrived, Rob the onsite concierge took good care of us starting with a royal welcome upon arrival - with the house lit beautifully and welcoming. We were tired from a long flight and car was loaded with groceries from Costco first stop direct from the airport, which he helped to unload. Then he came back the next day to help us set up a pay per view show my husband wanted to see on TV – 5 STAR service all around.
The house is so well laid out with luxurious bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms - three bedrooms on one side and 2 bedrooms on the other side and living area with huge glass sliding doors in the middle with an amazing chef’s kitchen. .The infinity pool and jacuzzi was a place to relax and really appreciate paradise with plenty of comfortable chaise lounges and sofas in the shade to take lazy afternoon naps and lots of privacy.
The outdoor gazebo was the best place on the island to have our daily breakfast with the BEST ocean views. We could have charged people to have breakfast in our ocean front lanai.
Did we mention the View - Amazing!!! Every morning we would come out to see the fish jumping out of the protected lava ponds in front of the house with the gorgeous palm trees and ocean framing it. We would time our excursions to be sure to get our daily view of the sun setting behind the palm trees and unending blue ocean. We have some spectacular sunset shots which are framed to remind us of our paradise for 10 short days.
We still refer to this vacation as one of the best vacations ever and we have rented many, many beautiful homes all around the world.
We can’t wait to book our next trip to the House of Tranquility!!!
If we could afford to buy this house we would do it in a second. We stayed 10 days, two adults and 6 kids aged 17 to 21. From this magnificent home you have unobstructed views over a small bay/lagoon to the ocean. Walking time, 2 minutes thru the rec center (there are very few houses or condos on the big island that abut the beach). The pictures of this house are accurate and if anything, under represents the quality of the house and furnishings and when we arrived the house was clean and felt new. We paid a lot to stay here and so we expected a lot. We were not disappointed. My only real complaint is that the house did not provide an introduction book explaining some of the functionality and the owners said they are working on this. You will have to fight to see who gets one of the two master suites that have ocean views since they are considerably better than the other 3 bedrooms. The private jacuzzi and infinity pool at the house are awesome. Not incredibly big but proportionately sized for this house. 10 average sized people could fit in the jacuzzi, but it would be a tight fit. The house also has a wonderful BBQ and outside covered patio with a huge wood table. The rec center is next door to this house, and although I was slightly worried about the noise from there, it was a non-issue for us.
The only things of use at the rec center are the two elliptical machines. The house comes with free access and free parking to the Hilton Hotel Pool and Lagoon. 10 minutes to walk to the Hilton or 3 minutes by car. Having free access to the Hilton pools is a huge bonus for this house. Pool, waterslide and towels are free but spa is $20/day/person and gym is $10/day/person. If high quality concierge service is very important to you when you go on vacation, I think you will be disappointed, but you won’t find much better except at high-end hotels.
The A bay is warm, calm and sandy. But like most places on the big island you will want to drive to the best snorkeling. Two must have books. "Snorkel Hawaii, The Big Island" by Malinowski, and "Hawaii. The Big Island Revealed" by Doughty.
Favorites are Costco, A-rated snorkeling, Waipi’o Lookout, Hapuna or Mauna Kea’s idealistic sandy beaches, Horseback riding in Waimea, Touching lava with a stick, Scandinavian Shave Ice, Fair Winds Sailing & BBQ to Captain Cooks, “You Make the Roll” sushi, Waikoloa Village Market, Splashers Grill, Big Island Grill, Country Samurai Coffee (just to meet Walter), Umauma Falls & Zipline
Kings Shops and Queen's Marketplace provide numerous restaurants, gourmet market, shops, etc. The Lava Lava Beach Club Restaurant sits on the sand with gentle waves lapping at the shore only feet away, and a historical walk along the path of the King's around the ponds has information plaques. The Waikoloa Grill has fabulous drinks and menu, with casual salad bar. Whale watching, snorkel and champagne sunset catamaran cruises could not be any easier.
