Marigot Bay is the quintessential Caribbean cove, framed on three sides by steep emerald hills and skirted by palm trees. There are some small but secluded beaches here. Some of the Caribbean's most expensive mega yachts anchor in this bay.
-The people are welcoming and the natural untouched beauty of the Island is unsurpassed.
Thank you Cyrus and Natalie for a very gracious welcome to Marigot Bay! And Thank you Lisa for sharing your "Home Away"!
Very well kept, neat and clean property. Very quiet and relaxing, close to everthing. A variety of restaurants, activities and lots of great sunshine !
We will miss the mornings on the porch and the lush green scenery!
Great value for a beautiful place in paradise !
We arrived in Marigot Bay Feb. 2 and were pleasantly surprised at such a beautiful place. our rental property was everything one could wish for. The kitchen was well equipped, and the apartment was very comfortable. The short walk down to the bay was well worth the effort, the numerous restaurants, the view, the very friendly locals made one feel right at home!! Many of the islands attractions are easily accessible by either water taxis or land taxis at reasonable prices. We preferred the water taxis as you could visit many locations easily. We can not thank our property manager "Cyrus Brown" enough for making our month long vacation exceptional!!! His knowledge of the island and his willingness to assist us at all times was greatly appreciated. We met at the airport as strangers and left as good friends. Thank you Cyrus!! The Captain wishes he was still there.
My friend and I loved this apartment. It was beautifully furnished and had a well stocked kitchen. The bedroom A/C units worked perfectly and when needed cooled the entire unit with doors left open. The apartment is ideally located -- just a 3 minute walk from the town center and dock. Do note that one section of the walk is well paved but steep. Marigot Bay is an absolutely beautiful bay and marina. Everyone - boaters, tourists and islanders alike are welcoming and friendly. It has a very small town feel. If you want a touch of luxury, the newly renovated Capella hotel across the street has spa and restaurants that are available to non guests. Cheateau Mygo on the dock has a delightful live band on Tuesday nights that is excellent! As indicated in other reports, you need to drive 15 minutes away to get groceries.
Clearly, the highlight of our stay was the property manager Cyrus Brown. Cyrus is a one of those rare individuals who infects you with his positive spirit and love of the island. He checked in on us each day, answered our never ending questions and gave us so many helpful tips about the area. Since we were not renting a car, we hired Cyrus as our driver to and from the airport and also as our tour guide for a day of exploring the sights around Soufriere. His rates are reasonable and he truly made our day each time we were with him. One evening we could not get the door combination lock to work and he appeared within 10 minutes to resolve the problem (which was not due to a defective lock). Thank you Cyrus for a memorable trip! I can’t wait to return!
Just wanted to let the owner know that our vacation in paradise was just that. The apartment had magnificent views of tropical trees, mountains and the bay in the distance. Our favorite spot was the veranda at night. We listened to the sounds of the rainforest and breathed in the fresh ocean air. This was the first time in years that the feeling of peace seemed to surround us. The property manager made sure to check on us regularly and we enjoyed getting his insight on what to do and where to go. I only wish the photos we had taken where scent and sound infused so that we could experience Saint Lucia again and again.
Loved this apartment! The car we rented spent more time at the villa than we did because we hardly ever needed to drive anywhere. Everything was just as pictured in the apartment and was in working order. Marigot is a beautiful little town and we felt at ease walking to and from places at all hours. A few things you may be interested in would be that the grocery store near the apartment didn’t have as much of a selection as we had hoped so we did travel to the larger store about 15 minutes away a few times, the beach across the bay is easy to get to by ferry and the ride is so quick that you could almost swim across, the other less populated beach is a short walk down a rocky road but once you get there it is lovely, stores close early in Saint Lucia on Sunday so if you need to shop do it before noon or you will be out of luck.
This was our first trip to Saint Lucia my wife is scared of heights but that didn’t stop her from getting out of the car by the side of an ominous cliff or two to take pictures! The road from the airport was fairly easy to maneuver. We drove up the Atlantic coast avoiding the more mountainous roads through the rainforest, which was a good thing because I was not used to driving on the left side of the road. I put my best “I got this” look on my face for my wife’s sake as we drove past small fishing villages and shanties all the while trying to avoid running over stray dogs and the occasional goat. We stopped at a supermarket on the way to the villa for supplies because we were told most stores close early on Sunday if they are open at all. When we arrived at the villa Cyrus was there to greet us (I seriously have not met a happier man in my life). Must be what we would all be like if we lived on an island.
The apartment was exceptionally well appointed and very welcoming. We stayed at Villa Papillon for 8 days and we have nothing but praise for accommodations. My wife has already started making plans for us to return with my brother and his wife next June. We will stay again at Villa Papillon for sure.
