Built in gym (5-floor walk-up!), chef's kitchen, sensuous sleeping loft, beautifully appointed. Ideal for that romantic 'Paris a Deux'.
The apartment is centrally located within Paris city centre and is within walking distance of the Picasso museum, the Place des Vosges, the new Opera at Bastille and Pere Lachaise Cemetery where Oscar Wilde rests with many other famous names, the proximity of the Metro Oberkampf makes the rest of the city easily accessible as well.
The kitchen area is approximately 8ft x 10ft, with modern units a gas hob and combined convection-air-micro-wave oven and under-counter refrigerator, 6ft high casement -window south facing, table and chairs, 2 bar stools, peach/beige paint work, flooring beige ceramic tiles.
The living room is L-shaped, slightly larger than kitchen with 1 x 6ft window south facing, 2 x 6ft windows west facing, with leather sofa, 2 large sofa-type chairs, writing desk and chair, paintings, drawings, objets.
Bathroom - full sized bath, hand shower, basin/mirror, chest of drawers, hanging cupboard.
The Queen bed is above the bathroom, mezzanine/open plan with velux sky-light/window.
Toilet is separate to the bathroom, just inside entrance to apartment with opening east facing window.
Sitting room and bathroom recently re-decorated while entire flat has been refurbished with oak-framed double glazing.
The total floor area is 48 sq meters - the light is fabulous.
This was the perfect base for our 10th wedding anniversay trip to Paris without the kids - cosy, romantic and very atmospheric. Enjoyed the squashy sofa, classical CDs + full size bathtub, rare anywhere in France let alone Paris! Also enjoyed discovering a different neighbourhood that is still very well placed for our favourite haunts. For a special occasion 'Le Villaret' does a fabulous menu and is practically on the door-step.
We had a wonderful time and would recommend to others.
Very good area, parking could be an issue if going by car, spacious apartment but quality of beds letting down overall picture -need an upgrade. Everything else you could only ask for. Communication with owner excellent . Would go back and will recommend to friends.
a very light and roomy top floor apt. which is very quiet and comfortable. it is in a great location with the perfect mix of local and tourist culture. surrounded by cafes, shops, restaurants and and bars but in easy walking or metro trips to all other parts of the city. many thanks dianne jeff and jez
This was our second stay and we loved it just as much as the first time. The Oberkampf location is perfect - just a bit away from the heart of Paris to feel secluded and comfortably neighborhood-y, yet close to major Metro lines. Amazing bakeries, fromageries and traiteurs, and a gorgeous twice-weekly farmers market make this a foodie paradise. Dianne, the owner, is fabulous - organized, a great communicator, friendly and helpful in every way. We're already planning our next visit!
My husband, 2 daughters and I stayed for 5 nights. The apartment was surprisingly larger than we expected and the views from this flat were fantastic. Due to the layout of the apartment, you could always get a nice cross breeze when the windows were open, so it was never hot or stuffy.
Overall, It was clean, bright, well maintained and fully equipped with everything you might need. The bed up in the loft was sooooo comfortable. We were concerned that it would get hot in the loft, but the sky window above the bed provided cool comfort. The kids (9 and 11) were also comfortable on fold out single foam beds in the living room.
We really enjoyed our breakfasts in the sunny, bright kitchen. The bathroom was a decent size with single sink, bathtub/shower and a wardrobe to hang your clothes. There was even a towel warmer/dryer rack which we thought was a very nice touch.
We really enjoyed the neighbourhood which had everything - cheese shop, deli, butcher, seafood shop, a few French bakeries, a couple of traiteurs (a food shop offering delicious ready to eat / take out salads, meat and seafood dishes), fresh produce store, regular supermarkets, bistros, etc.
The apartment was conveniently located between two major metro stations (Republique & Oberkampf) and within walking distance to the hip/trendy Marais district.
But what really sold us on this flat was the owner. She was extremely efficient, organized and communicative. Before leaving for our trip, she had provided us with maps, directions on how to get to the apartment, restaurant recommendations, list of important numbers, etc.
We enjoyed our stay at 19 rue Ternaux and will definitely be back!
I just concluded a one-month stay in this fabulous little apartment and loved every minute of it. I was worried that the reality of the place would not live up to the pictures and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the pictures do not do it justice. The place was perfect!! Beautifully furnished, comfortable bed, great soaking tub (good after a long day's walk in Paris!), steps away from an amazing bakery, grocery store, fruit stands, farmer's markets. And, as of 5/20/14, there is a completely gluten-free bakery that just opened steps from the front door. The owner of this property could not have been more helpful, pleasant and easy to deal with. She recommended the open-air bus tour to get acclimated to Paris (which I did and recommend as well), as well as the twilight Seine boat cruise. Say YES to both! The large map of Paris in the kitchen helps one get situated for your daily adventures. I cannot wait to return to this exact apartment the next time I am in Paris!!
My husband and I, and our teen son and daughter spent a wonderful week at this apartment. It is clean, lovely and spacious with a great view. The 11th arr has great, cafes bars, shops and restaurants - someone described it to be as the 'Brooklyn of Paris' for it's young and vibrant atmosphere. There are two Metros close by, though it is still possible to walk to the Bastille or the Marais. The owner Dianne is truly a gem: we were arriving on Xmas day and were afraid we wouldn't find anywhere to open eat and she sent lots of suggestions and a details guide to getting from CDG to the flat. Nothing was a problem with her, always helpful and relaxed. We will definitely be staying here the next time we come to Paris!
