About Susan Huffman

I grew up in Florida, moved to NYC, Philadelphia & Santa Fe, NM for 23 years prior to moving back to St. Augustine in 1995. I was a former professional dancer and owned a physical therapy and Pilates wellness center in St. Augustine for the past 15 years. I consider my home a canvas that reflects my creative and eclectic taste yet is comfortable and warm.

Susan Huffman purchased this house in 1995

Why Susan Huffman chose St. Augustine

Conveniently located between St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra. My home offers easy access to I 95, outlet malls, golf, water sports and historical sites. Within walking distance of three waterfront restaurants. Two miles from the Vilano Town Center with Publix, a salon, dry cleaning, restaurants, beach wear, a water park, boat rentals and fishing pier.

What makes this house unique

Open floor plan with great ocean views from every room. Walk out your back door to the beach. This property is in an established neighborhood with private homes vs. condos.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Susan,

Our stay was awesome! Your house is beautiful & serene. Coming from a family of artists - your decor and touches are placed with special thought. I thank you for allowing your home to be our home for a short while. No email's were looked and or answered. That's saying a lot of how restful it was. Our family had a great time while they were here. Much love and laughter we shared. I enjoyed several of your books which were thought provoking.

Thanks again!

WOW! What a great vacation!!

Our vacation was wonderful! The home is gorgeous, roomy and the views just dont stop. So relaxing and peaceful! The beach is beautiful and quiet. We had a family of dolphins play each day so close to the shore. There was a baby dolphin about 3.5 feet playing with its mom great pictures! We will stay here again!

We had a great time...

  • 4 of 5
If you need a vacation with waves, sun, and touristy stuff to do while still being close to comforts like Publix and standard restaurants (Lone Star, Carabbas, Red Lobster, Outback) then this is the place for you. The house is stunningly decorated with leather couches and leather chairs around the tables. A short drive gets you into St. Augustine and another short drive gets you to the comforts of home (restaurants, Target, etc.). There is not much shelling as in whole unique shells, but there are tons of pieces of shells that have weathered the oceans and show unique patterns in them that would be interesting in jewelry. We think we even found a shark's tooth an some other sort of teeth. The beach is private, but the neighborhood across the street uses the public access path right next to the house, so you might wind up with people stationed right in front of the house. But it also makes it another layer of "watching" to do while sitting on the couches. The windows are all around on the main level and you can see everything; sunrise, cloud formations, waves, people, dogs, boats, dolphins. The sand is walkable after you get thru the broken shell layer. The outdoor shower and hose was so nice to help rinse off with after playing in the surf. The house comes with boogie boards, but the Publix right down the road has inner tube floaties, and more boogie boards and anything else you could need. The laundry room is a bit challenging, especially for my husband, who did all the laundry, but we are finding as we explore these VBRO rentals that that might be the norm for beach houses. The owner was very concerned that we had a nice time and that we enjoyed her property. The only drawback for us that we had not considered, was that the house is on the Coastal Highway so you sometimes hear the traffic with the waves. If that doesn't bother you then this house is a great property for the St. Augustine area.

Excellent holiday retreat

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed spending the Christmas and New Year holiday in this comfortable home on peaceful Vilano Beach. The home is beautifully decorated, clean and well-maintained. It offers easy access to St. Augustine's activities and sightseeing. The neighborhood is upscale and quiet. The owner thought of everything to equip the house for our comfort and ease of use. I never leave home without my two chihuahuas and I appreciated the owner's acceptance of this part of my family. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations.

Highly Recommend!

  • 5 of 5
If you are looking for a beautifully decorated home, with amazing ocean views, this place is for you! Everything about the home was warm and inviting. What you see in the pictures is what you get, only more..... the extra touches were delightful; artwork, fine linen, soft leather sofas, etc. Located right on the beach, wonderful decks to relax on and a hot tub that was put to good use! You are located away from the crowds, but a very short drive from restaurants and Publix, etc. It is only minutes to all the attractions that St. Augustine offers. We had three little girls and four adults staying here and there was plenty of room for all to sleep and play comfortably. We watched sunrises, dolphins, pelicans & surfers from the huge ocean view windows. The men fished from the beach & caught a stingray, as well as other fish. The kids loved finding shells on the beach to take home. We dined at Cap's on the Water and Aunt Kate's restaurants; they are located close by and we recommend them!
The home was spotless! It has a stack laundry area if you need it. You have lawn chairs, boogie boards and sand toys at your disposal.
Susan, the owner, is only a phone call away if you need anything. She is very friendly and helpful with any needs or questions you have.
We definitely recommend this home as a place to stay while visiting the Oldest City in the Nation!

Great Location

  • 5 of 5
My wife and 9 year old daughter joined me here for a very relaxing week. The home is well furnished and comfortable, and the location can't be beat. We were just minutes from downtown St. Augustine, yet we felt miles away. The beach was uncrowded and simply beautiful. We highly recommend to stay here and make sure to try the local restaurants. We especially recommend Caps.
