PRIVATE SANDY BEACH AND PIER WITH WAVE-RUNNER LIFT

White Stone Beach House Rental Photos and Description

Mouth of the Rappahannock River where it meets the Chesapeake Bay.

Welcome to White Stone in the beautiful Northern Neck of Virginia! Our house is located on Windmill Point, at the mouth of the Rappahanock River on its northern bank, where it meets the Chesapeake Bay. We know you will enjoy your family vacation on the banks of the Rappahanock River. Here you will find a stay that is very private 2.5 acres of land, with 250 feet of water frontage, 150 feet of sandy beach, a dock for fishing and jumping, a half basketball court, corn-toss, fire pit, and plenty of room to play. We can sleep 10, we have three bedrooms (two with queen size beds, and a bunk room with two bunkbeds, and a futon. Two bathrooms, and a spacious outdoor shower.

From our beach, the river is five miles wide, directly across from Deltaville, and a quarter mile northwest of the Chesapeake. Our 2.5 acres of land boasts 250 feet of shoreline, a private sandy beach, a dock, a waverunner lift, a basketball court, and enough room to toss around a football, frisbee, baseball, lacrosse ball, or anything else that flies. We have two sea kayaks available for your use, as well as a paddle board, and you are welcome to bring your own sunfish, waverunner, windsurfer, or other beach toys that will enhance your vacation. But don’t worry about bringing your own beach chairs or beach umbrella – we got that covered!

No slimy sand on our beach – at low tide with the slow sloping beach an adult can walk 100 plus yards off the shore and still be standing. Bring your own waverunner and put it on our lift to use at your leisure without having to tow in and out with each use. We often have schools of dolphins in the river, particularly during the late summer. Tall pines on the front yard (river facing) provide excellent shade in the afternoon if you need a break from the sunny beach to play a game of corn toss, or to set up the fire for the evening in the fire pit to sample some smores with the kids. Catch some fish off of the dock, or, if you are as bad as we are at fishing, drive in the morning to the commercial fisherman up the road to get some flounder fresh from his morning catch. Try throwing some bait in our crab trap (chicken necks often work) and with some luck you may be eating blue crabs for dinner. Enjoy your morning coffee on the outdoor patio, play card games on the front screen porch, take an overexposed picture of the spectacular sunsets, or just kick back with a cold refreshing drink and let the summer day just stretch on!

Walk to the Pelican Bar/Restaurant on the water to catch a live band on a Saturday night, head up the road to Irvington to catch breakfast at the Tide’s Inn, from there sample some local wine and oysters at the Dog and Oyster, head into Kilmarnock for some antique and specialty shops. Hit the links at either Golden Eagle or King Carter golf course, each about 10 country miles away (if you are used to waiting to take a shot at a crowded city course, prepare for having the course to yourself). Take a day trip to Busch Gardens, historic Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown, Richmond (each between 1 and 1.5 hours), Virginia Beach (2 hours), or even Washington D.C. (2.75 hours). We know you will have a fantastic vacation at an affordable price.

John and Jenelle have been married 16 years and have four wonderful sons. We are a very athletic family and have come to love being at the river and all it has to offer. Last year (2012) our life took us from Arlington, VA to Austin, TX. We are now not able to spend as much time at the river and would like to share it with others. Our kids have spent the last five summers here, attending sailing and baseball camp, wakeboarding, water-skiing, tubing, and just playing in the water. The kids have also enjoyed catching rockfish, flounder, and spot off the pier. Crab pot off the dock too. I'm sure you will enjoy it just as much as we have.

SLICE OF PARADISE

  • 5 of 5
This place is great. We had our very own little beach. The sand and small waves were perfect for the kids to play in. We had bald eagles in the back yard and I had three sting rays swim under my paddle board. The outdoor shower is large and was great for washing off the sand. I'd much rather vacation here in seclusion than at a beach with 1,000 other people. I can't wait to go back!

HOLIDAY GETAWAY - EXPLORING THE COASTAL REGIONS OF THE CHESAPEAKE

  • 4 of 5
We had a great family trip. The property and home are perfect for family bonding - spending quality time together and for overall relaxation. The location is quiet and serene. We took a few day trips - to sightsee and shop in the Williamsburg VA attractions area. Lots of things to do there. While at the property, we used the great spaces out front for basketball/ skateboarding...and loved exploring the beautiful coast area. The sunrises and sunsets were fantastic - we set alarms to assure we saw them! The house has many amenities and is comfortable. We watched tons of movies, TV shows and played games - spent lots of time in the family room. Since we visited in the winter - we split some wood and built lots of fires. Food shopping is close and well stocked. We were pleasantly surprised to find some amazing antique/ collectable shopping (higher end) in Kilmarnock. This was a memorable trip for us.

PERFECT PLACE FOR A PERFECT VACATION!!

  • 5 of 5
I have two different reviews for this home based on when you are thinking of staying there....
The first is for anyone considering renting at the same time that we would like to schedule a return visit. If this is you, DON'T rent this place! You'll hate it - I promise. There is sand everywhere, and the waves make this terrible noise that puts you right to sleep at night - who wants that?? One night, the sunset was so blindingly gorgeous that it totally distracted us as we sat at the fire pit. Ew. Sometimes in the evening, if the wind was just right, you could hear the faint sound of Bob Marley or Jimmy Buffet drifting down from the Pelican Bar. Just obnoxious, I tell you! To be honest, all of the available activities were distracting from all of the just plain laying around on the beautiful beach that I wanted to do.
Now - if you're going at a time when we DON'T plan to be there, I can not possibly tell you how amazing it is in the limited characters allowed for this review. From the time I booked it, the owners worked with me to make sure the trip was perfect. We were bringing a wounded warrior from Walter Reed, and the owner was SO helpful in making sure his, and our, trip would be perfect. We booked this trip as a welcome home from Afghanistan for my husband - he wanted a boat trip, and I wanted a beach trip. I thought I would lose out, till I found this place - and the minute we arrived I knew we had made the best possible decision!
The setting is so beautiful - it is salt water, but there aren't crazy waves like you have at an ocean beach. The sunsets off the dock are unbelievable and the beach is basically private - we never saw a soul except on our twice daily beach walks with the dogs. We rode our bikes to the Marina and Pelican Bar for lunch, and another night we walked along the beach to get there to have dinner and drinks and listen to the live music. The best meal, though, was when we took the boat to Merroir at sunset for oysters - unbelievable!! We bought some unshucked oysters and took them home and grilled them the next night, and they were even better!
The water was too rough when we first arrived to kayak, but on the last day we were able to take them out. We had seen dolphins frolicking (seriously! frolicking!!) in the river a couple days before while we were at the tiki bar, and I was determined to kayak with them. We didn't find them, but the trip was still so beautiful!
It was the perfect place and we had a perfect vacation!

20TH ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY

  • 4 of 5
The home was just as the photos show. We had great weather for our stay and our Golden loved the run of the beach! It was very peaceful & quiet and we were so relaxed by the end of our stay we almost forgot to leave!! We'd love to go back and spend more time in the area. Had great dinners at the Sandpiper and the Tides Inn.
