Architecturally designed, waterfront, 2-bedroom guest suite that is semi attached to a larger main house, yet very private. The guest suite can handle two adults and three children comfortably, or four adults (one queen bed and one bunk bed with double on the bottom).
The suite is about 1,000 s.f., away from the highway and it is on a low water bank beach.
The beach is protected by several large boulders (see photos) that create two shallow and “warm” swimming areas. Temperature measured at 72 F in August '13.
The architectural style of the house is west coast contemporary. The south facing deck overlooks the ocean with views toward Nanaimo and Parksville in the distance. The beach is pebble-strewn and awash with large and small driftwood. Winter storms can be spectacular and change the beach in hours.
House construction was finished in late July 2013. The kitchen has Caesar Stone white counters, with built in microwave, dishwasher, fridge, bar seating for four, and a high end gas stove. The deck has a gas BBQ. There is also an in-suite washer and dryer.
The main bedroom has a queen bed, and the second bedroom has a bunk bed with double at the bottom and single on top.
The living room also has a gas fireplace, gorgeous views and a sliding door to the deck. There is a Wi-fi Internet, 50-inch plasma T.V. with a whole house DVR and cable.
The house is heated with hot water baseboards controlled by Nest thermostats.
Preference given to families wanting to rent for longer stays.
Some FAQs based on prior questions to me:
Q. Do we rent by the month?
A. Yes. Has been rented twice to families building or renovating their own homes.
Q. Is it by the beach?
A. Yes, absolutely. You are about 15-20 steps away from the beach. On the deck you will get ocean spray during winter storms. It is close.
Q. Can you handle six adults?
A. No. We can handle 4 adults, or 2 adults with 3 children.
We have grown up in the Lower Mainland, and we live in Burnaby B.C. I run a tech company and my wife is a part time school teacher. We have three teenage children.
We wanted this house to be modern, which is in contrast to our main residence that is a 101 year old arts and crafts. We also wanted this house to be casual, rugged, yet elegant without the bling.
Maria Garcha purchased this house in 2013
This is a dream home. We have been searching for a perfect spot to build on for nearly 15 years. The spot had to be an easy drive from Vancouver, have ocean access for water sports, be near golf, and have local grocery, and liquor stores. This piece of land, now a house, has it all.
Away from traffic, which is not easy to find in this part of the coast, south facing, again this is not common, and low water bank that is interesting.
