FUN FAMILY TIME AT HIGH LAKE

  • 5 of 5
With our two grown children and their families we thoroughly enjoyed a 10-day stay at High Lake. Just the perfect location, it was only a few miles from the activities in Traverse City, yet was a quiet, restful spot away from the hustle and bustle of crowds and traffic, and still located a short distance from a large garden market, an excellent grocery store and Lake Michigan.

Our landlord was exceedingly accommodating for all our needs, and always available for questions.

The house was very clean, well-maintained, and roomy enough for all three generations of our family. The outside area was also well-kept, with plenty of chairs, tables and three fire pits, one of which was on the multilevel deck; the dock was nice with enough space for a bench plus chairs at the end.

Our family recommends this as a wonderful family vacation spot.

PERFECT, RELAXING, PEACEFUL RETREAT ACCOMODATING TO MULTIPLE FAMILIES AT ONCE

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on High Lake at Jim's home at the end of June/early July. The cottage provides great space and for our party, accomodated two separate families with children with 2 bedrooms on either side of the home, which created a nice separation and the ability to retreat to your part of the house. The inside has plenty of room and the outside where we spent most of our time was awesome with very large deck, sandy beach and dock. The lake is relaxing and very peaceful. We used the pontoon and it worked very well for our needs. Additionally, downtown Traverse City is just 7-8 miles away and an easy drive for back and forth as needed. I'd recommend this cottage to any single family or multiple families. We have a 2 year old and my in-laws had an 8 and 10 year olds. We all found it a great place to vacation. Not to mention, our landlord was extremely responsive and accomodating. Thanks Jim!

WARM AND FRIENDLY A NICE GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
Every other year we drive up from Texas and vacation in Traverse City and rent a lake house. This year we had a wonderful time staying at this property. Jim was wonderful in getting in contact with and making our stay warm and friendly. My husband and I, mother-in-law and our four kids in our party had plenty of activities at the house during the down times from sightseeing and going to Lake Michigan;from using the paddle boat, the swimming dock, to the pool table. We decided not to utilize the pontoon boat but it was available if we were interested. The lake was serene and peaceful and we enjoyed every night using the fire pit to make s'mores.

There were a few minor maintenance issues but other than that the kitchen and bathroom was well stocked with whatever you needed such as plenty of towels, beach towels and all the necessities in the kitchen. We will definitely consider this property again in the future.

GREAT TIME AT THE FAMILY FUN COTTAGE!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time at the cottage and we’d most definitely go back next year! Jim couldn’t be any more attentive to our needs which was really quite refreshing.

We had 2 families with a total of 4 adults and 7 children. The cottage had room to spare and could really accommodate another family. The cottage itself was pretty nice. It was furnished quite nicely and had a fully stocked kitchen. From board games, televisions, pool table and even the Wi-Fi, there was plenty to occupy the children had they actually wanted to spend any time indoors. We actually spent most of our time outdoors. Whether it was on one of the decks, at one of the fire pits, the dock, the swimming platform or the beach area, a good time was had! We brought along a game machine, just in case... it was hardly even touched. The children spent most of their time on the beach, or in the water. They had a particularly good time with the paddle boat.

We paid extra for the use of the pontoon. It was perfect for the lake and well worth it! Jim had it gassed and ready to go for us. There were also plenty of life vests to go around. The men of our party took it out in the mornings to fish and in the afternoons for family time. They children had a lot of fun jumping into the lake from the boat! We caught quite a few largemouth bass and crappie. The children were able to fish from the dock and they caught a lot of blue gill.

The area around the cottage was pretty serene. You wouldn’t know that you were just minutes from Traverse City. There is a convenience store nearby and the pizza place had fantastic pizza. The location was perfect. A short car ride into Traverse City was nice for the little ones that would rather be at the cottage in the water. Sleeping Bear Dunes was a little further but well worth the trip!

Initially, we were looking for a weekend trip with a two night stay. That third night was a little off putting, until we got there. Two nights just would not have been enough. Next year we plan to do an entire week. We will most definitely go back!

RELAXATION AT BEST!

  • 5 of 5
We reserved this cottage for Memorial Day weekend, we found it very accommodating for us, 7 adults and 3 children. The cottage is in decent and well-kept condition and the owner has loaded it with extra amenities (there's always this "aha!...look what I found" factor). Some of the kitchen amenities needs update but that is not a big deal. The bed linens were super clean and there were tons of towels available for the guests, which was really nice! The best aspect of this cottage is the outdoor space: the double deck and the fishing dock right on the serene water (don't forget to rent the pontoon to do some fishing). waking up every morning and sitting on the deck facing the lake to have the morning coffee felt so relaxing! the kids enjoyed fishing and were able to disconnect for a while from their e-world! (however, there's wi-fi router for free and very easy to use!). In few words, this cottage was an excellent fit for us and felt like home for few days. The owner Jim is a very nice and courteous person and we were very pleased to do business with him. We recommend this cottage for all individuals looking for relaxation and fun!

HIGH LAKE, TRAVERSE CITY

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time! The cottage was very spacious, even had a pool table for more entertainment. We loved the lake, little beach area, pontoon, fire pits, nice deck with large table. It was close enough to downtown traverse city for more entertainment as well. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone, its very nice. We would love to go back!
