Our family has stayed in the Rio Mar Ocean Villas on two occasions in March in the past two years and have nothing negative to report. It's by far the best family location we have experienced.
My wife and 3 kids had an amazing time at this very clean and well appointed ocean front villa. The grounds of the complex were well taken care of and the pools were clean and well maintained. The view from the villa (especially the private veranda) was stunning! My kids (11,9,6) took full advantage of the boogie boards and other beach toys provided. The beach is just steps away from the pool area. The beach was very quiet and the surf was not overwhelming for the little ones. Plenty of restaurants nearby as well as the famed El Yunque national forest (less than 10 min away). My kids especially enjoyed making their own pizzas at the Revolution Pizza Shop at the Liquillo kiosks, we highly recommend this place. Very good Pizza! Enuiz was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. We are looking forward to a future visit to PR and the Ocean Villas!
The villa, a 1BR condo, is literally among the best on the island. It's formerly owned and located on the property of the Wyndam Grand Rio Mar. This villa is located in the east building on the eastern wing. It's on the fifth (top) floor and your views are great, above the palm trees, and I agree that some of the pictures do not do it justice. Location is PERFECT for trips to Luquillo, Fajardo, San Juan, and El Yunque.
You can tell the owner and the owner's agent, Euniz, care very well for the villa. The quality of the furnishings are top notch and the condition well-cared for. The balcony is large and private, with a 3 person bistro table, a chaise lounge, and a small grill. You get a small pool view and BEAUTIFUL sweeping, unobstructed beach and ocean views. The main (living) room was nice, had comfortable oversized furnishings (as pictured), large tables, and a wall-mounted monstrous 60" Samsung LED TV. Cable TV and internet which Euniz nicely setup was a bonus. A/C unit worked well here. The kitchen wasn't big, but more than adequate. Nice countertops, blender, toaster, oven, microwave, and all the dishes and glasses you could possible use were provided. The microwave needs a little maintenance but it worked fine for us. The bathroom, with double vanity, was spacious and nice to have. The shower/tub combo was fine (although I really prefer a separate shower). Water pressure and temperature were good. It would've been nice had their been extra toilet paper and paper towels. The bedroom was also great. The A/C was more than adequate, and really nice to have. Bed was firm yet comfortable, plenty of closet space and hangers, excellent dresser, and of course a nice wall-mounted Samsung TV. Views from the bedroom also do not disappoint!
You get a parking spot located right outside the building, which is great, as it's close and you don't have to wait for a valet. Our "opener" failed but Euniz had it replaced within minutes.
The building itself is showing some signs of age, but overall it's in great condition, and the grounds are immaculate. Pools and hot tub were excellent and mostly deserted during our stay. The next door Wyndam shops/restaurants are nice to have in a pinch, but you can do better elsewhere.
Do not hesitate to book this property - it's an EXCELLENT value.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay in the Condo at Ocean Villas. The moment we opened the door we were greeted with the most breathtaking view of the crystal blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The condo was impeccably clean, and I honestly do not think the pictures do it justice. The furnishings were new, in fact, Euniz was having a brand new refrigerator installed as we were checking in to the unit.
It was so incredibly relaxing to wake up to the sound of the ocean and to be able to enjoy our coffee on the balcony while looking out at the beach. After a daily run on the beach, we would come back and eat breakfast on the balcony, then head to the beach for swimming and relaxing. Nights were soothing as the air was filled with a warm sea breeze and the constant chirp of the ubiquitous Coqui. Paradise.
The condo suited our needs perfectly and Euniz was a real help in making sure our vacation was perfect. She recommended activities and restaurants and even left us a welcome gift. Although we did not use them, the toiletries that were provided were a nice touch as well. There were ample towels for the bathroom and beach and plenty of bed sheets too.
The food at the resort is decent with the Iguana pub having the most appropriate food for the resort. I recommend having a rental car in order to take advantage of the local area, ie the Luquillo food kiosks and El Yunque- a ten minute drive.
For anyone looking for a clean, safe, relaxing, gorgeous location for a vacation in Puerto Rico, this is the place. Thank you Euniz for making our stay wonderful and we hope to be back very soon.
From the first conversation prior to booking through the late night drive to bring us a spare key (we locked both keys in villa one evening) Euniz was a pleasure to deal with. She provided exceptional service - communicating via email, phone and text as needed.
The villa was PERFECT. Direct ocean front in a quiet area to the left of the main hotel. A five minute walk to all activity and then a 5 minute walk back to solitude. It was clean, well equipped, and perfect for the 3 of us. The blender came in handy each afternoon in making our fruity frozen drinks - much more convenient and economical than the $11 drinks at the Tiki Bar.
We tried a number of the restaurants Euniz recommended and couldn't have been happier. El Jefe, Don Pepe, and Antojitos Puertorriqueños were all very good, reasonably priced, and each was as good - if not better - than the prior.
We made the mistake one night of following our own instincts and going to a place we found on a billboard near the resort - Richie's Cafe. Food was a B-, view was phenominal, and the 9 year old waiter was the highlight of the night. Definitely a tourist trap - portions were small and food overpriced. Strawberry mojitos were yummy!
Euniz, thank you again for everything! I'll be keeping you in my contacts for my next trip to Puerto Rico.
