Retired Grammy wanting to share her beautiful Hawaii with you! Homeowner is friendly, knows every nook and cranny of the island and can point you in any direction you wish to go. Born and raised in Jamaica, she retired here in Hawaii after an amazing journey through life, which she will share with you if you ask--it will amaze you! While she lets you enjoy her home all to yourself, she will be happy to talk with you at length about her beautiful Hawaii, if you are so inclined.

Marcia purchased this house in 2005

Lovely, quiet family neighborhood, tropical breezes, beautiful mountain, golf, ocean views, short walk to the beautiful Koko Head Botanical Gardens, where every type of Plumeria tree is on parade, gardening to her heart's content, yet close to shopping and easy to get into town. These are the reasons this place was the one for her.

You'll love the corner lot with its space for children to run and play, its beautiful, tropical gardens (which Grammy will come by from time to time to water on a regular basis so you don't lose your blooms), and so close to everything you'd like to see or do. This is the best location you will find at this price.

GREAT HOME TO STAY IN

  • 5 of 5
We stayed five days at 484811 and enjoyed every minute of it. This is a beautiful, spacious home with high ceilings, 3 comfortable bedrooms, large family room-kitchen area and exceptional privacy. Having no air conditioning wasn't even an issue as gentle island breezes blew the entire time we were there. This isn't the typical rental as the owner lives there part time and it shows with lots of paintings on the wall, decorative art pieces and everything needed in the large, well-appointed kitchen.
We were five minutes away from Hawaii Kai shopping and 20 minutes from Honolulu which suited us just fine. Beaches are a half mile away, but we felt safe and secluded with no noise in the neighborhood.
We'd definitely return.

FAMILY DREAM

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful home and hosts. Annie and Rob were most helpful and accomodating to our needs. They were also very kind. I would absolutely recommend this home. It is clean and spacious, too. Stores and beaches are close by. Hiking and parks are also close by. Hanauma Bay, which is perfect for snokeling, is a short car ride away!

GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD, AWAY FROM THE CITY, BUT NOT TOO FAR

  • 4 of 5
This was a nice house, pretty clean - could have used a good dusting/deep clean - but felt quite lived-in and has a beautiful garden/yard. The Costco, Safeway & Longs were quite convenient. Was only about a 30 minute drive to Waikiki/Honolulu or Kailua. This is a great home base to drive from. The beach nearby, about a mile away, was sandy and beautiful but we were discouraged from getting in by the lifeguard. As it turned out, it's a fairly rough crashing wave area. Hanauma Bay is quite close too - just know that it costs $7.50 pp for entry and a dollar to park - and there weren't any fish to be seen, sadly disappointed. So the house is a great location, you'll need transportation because you're not downtown, but it's got a beautiful area to walk around, botanical gardens, and you can see the ocean.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay here. Thanks for the info on the deep clean. We'll see that our crew does that better! It's true that Sandy Beach is for experienced swimmers, but the tide pools along the shore are excellent for little ones who just want to play in shallow water and see the little fish that swim there, protected from the surf. There's also a great "keiki" (children's) beach just 10 minutes down the road in Waimanalo, with gentle waves and soft sand. So glad you found the house convenient and the neighborhood beautiful. Come back and see us again!

HAWAII KAI HOME

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful 10 days in Oahu and the Hawaii Kai location, layout and style was perfect for my wife and the other retired military couple that joined us. Close to the beach and Hanama Bay and outside of most of the Wakiki traffic was great. We chose the rental because we are very familiar with the island and love Oahu, but it is perfect for 2 couples or a family with older kids. The only upgrade we would make is to the double bed in the master suite.

VERY NICE STAY!

  • 5 of 5
I rented this property while my mother was recuperating from a hospital stay. It was the perfect house. It is large enough to allow for space for everyone. The owner was a joy and very helpful about places to visit. Make sure to leave the screen doors closed as Hawaii has LARGE centipedes. I would highly recommend this property. It is located within a couple of miles of several really nice beaches. It is also about 3 miles from the shopping centers and COSTCO (the cheapest place in Hawaii). Nice quiet spot.

A LOVELY HOUSE IN AN EXCELLENT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
We loved this house. Very spacious, well kept and comfortable. Quiet, upscale neighborhood. Beautiful garden. The owners are lovely people, as are the neighbors. It is close to the beach but you will want a car as it is very suburban. Center city Honolulu is about a 25 minute drive. Hanaoma bay and koko crater are right nearby. Ideal for a family with children (such as ours). We would definitely stay there again.

Notes:
You will love the original art pieces scattered throughout this home--watercolors, oils and acrylics. Phyllis, the owner, lives here when she's not renting to you, so she has left many personal touches for you to enjoy in her absence. There is no air conditioning or heating in this home, so if you are the type who avoids open windows and balmy breezes, this may not be the place for you. But we have plenty of ceiling and other type fans for each room on the occasional days that are warm, and blankets for the cool days in the winter.
