About Louise Robson

While I was born in Dallas, Texas, I grew up from the age of four down the highway from the Cottage in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, where my parents own a horse farm. My father taught at Random Lake High School for nearly forty years, so I was exposed to farm work and academia throughout my entire youth. I attended college at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and then Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, earning undergraduate degrees at both. Currently I am a charter pilot for a private aircraft management company in Hong Kong. For the past seven years, I have made the Hong Kong/Macau area my home, but I still come back to Wisconsin to visit my family and friends at least two times a year.

Why Louise Robson chose Oostburg

My youth and many vacations were spent up the lake from this Cottage at my grandparents lake house. It was at their lake house that I came to love Lake Michigan and the experience of that quiet and peaceful living.

I had been looking to buy a home that had the same feeling as my grandparents home. On the lake, of course, but also something that was obviously taken care of and loved by a family who grew up there and spent countless memories visiting, just as I had during my life.

The location was a big factor also. If you travel up and down Lake Michigan you will not find the same beaches. The sand in this area of the lake is amazing. Soft and delicate but not dusty. We used to call it 'squeaky sand' growing up because if you quickly drag your feet in the hot sand it will squeak with each step.

Also, since I grew up in the area I know all there is to offer and that makes it much easier to provide the best experience for those who come here to visit.

What makes this cottage unique

Living on the lake is unique. And while I have invested in adding the technology that has become the norm in our world, there is still a feeling of a simpler time when walking around the property. It was built in the 1940s, along with many of the surrounding properties. It has a history which shows its character and provides a unique insight to how life was on the lake 60 years ago. The joys of living on this lake are big – from its intimacy to its power. Come and enjoy this lake Cottage and find out your reasons.

My beautiful girlfriend and I enjoyed this getaway immensely. The stunning view of the lake was breathtaking and the amenities were bountiful. There was a well thought out welcome basket catering to our needs upon arrival. Each morning we relished in the sunlight reflecting off the lake. Our options were limitless. We would go into town to find some fresh produce with which to cook our evening's meal. We would walk outside enjoying the crisp lakeside air. We would sit together on the sofa piecing together a puzzle while enjoying the many available means of entertainment such as music, books, or movies. At night, as we indulged in a glass of wine, we would curl up by the fireplace and enjoy the quiet of the evening. This was truly a wondrous experience.

Great, Relaxing Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay in this cottage. We stayed over New Years and it was bitterly cold outside but the cottage was snug and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all cooking and eating implements you could want or need. The welcome basket was well appreciated. The beds, and all furniture were very comfortable. Overall the house was clean, well stocked and furnished, and we had a wonderful time. We hope to return in the future.

Amazing Romantic Weekend with my lovely wife Nancy

  • 5 of 5

Louise, Everything was perfect as anyone could ask for. The cottage has the perfect Karma, very clean, very well maintained, very cozy, very tranquil. My wife Nancy and I wanted to get away, as we have not gotten away without the kids in 27 years. This was by far the perfect place, to spend some quality alone time with my soul mate of 30 years. The Cottage is the perfect place to stay we didnt have a care in the world, and the Cottage made sure of this. Thank you for the lovely welcome basket Louise, that was very nice of you to do that for your us. While it was a bit cold out we still made our way to the lake, as its a short walk from the cottage and, as their are two wood burning fire places that kept us very warm once we made it back in the cottage. Thank you again Louise for a fabulous weekend, and I would highly recommend this Romantic Cottage to any couple. Jeff & Nancy Armstrong Melrose Park Illinois

Lake Michigan

  • 5 of 5

I been checking out is area for quite some time & finally decided to take "the trip."

And to finally stay in this area was amazing, and humbling in such a short distance away from my home ...It is like you left the continent & was on your own personal island, or thinking it was the Atlantic, Pacific or some other great body of water....

As I pick a full moon to stay & was not disappointed... with clear nights & with warm sunny autumn days.

And as approaching the cottage you pass the Fall colors of the woods, then bam ! As the blue waters of Lake Michigan just welcome you there.

imo, the cottage near such a great body of water is the prefect setting, cuz nature & its beauty comes first...

I highly recommend staying here... be it a week or more or just a short getaway to unwind & decompress with 'the view.' which is always guarantee.....

Getting away and hitting the beach

  • 5 of 5

Being in Madison, my wife and I want to get away and relax on a pristine Lake Michigan beach, with an oceanic view, and this property really delivered. It was very peaceful--we went for plenty of walks on the beach and in three days saw three people, so it was virtually ours. Our stretch of beach is actually the widest and smoothest. It is dog-friendly, so our golden retriever Charlie totally exhausted himself playing Frisbee. The "cottage" was very comfortable and well-maintained. No problems with Wi-Fi (yes, I brought my laptop). It was really nice having a fireplace in the bedroom as well. Not much as far as food goes locally--we didn't really care for Judy's in Oostburg for dinner (but might have good breakfasts) (better choices in Sheboygan, about 20 minutes north). My only suggestion would be having a channel guide to consult (although Louise was really helpful in finding the NFL Network for me for the Thursday game against the Vikings). Anyway, we had a very relaxing time and would be happy to come back again sometime. Thanks Louise!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Mark, for the review! Per your suggestion, I printed out the channel listing from the Warner/Cable wet site and included it in the Cottage on Cottage binder. It's very small print, however, so I also included a magnifying glass in the binder pocket. In the meantime, I'll see if I can't get a more suitable channel guide sent to me. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and let us know via the review on VRBO. Trapper, the owner and my son, loves to peruse the reviews from his home in Hong Kong. He'll be staying there himself in late November..early December. Hope he gives it a good review as well!
