Overview

Sonoma Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

Our farmhouse, built in 1920 and renovated in 2010, is on a 4-acre pasture located 5 minutes outside of Sonoma Square. The modern kitchen seats 6 comfortably around a hardwood island table, but you may prefer to sit outside in the courtyard next to the fountain or in the front sun room that seats 10. The bocce court sits in the shade next to the courtyard and offers a nice way to relax after a day of wine tasting or cycling in the valley. We added an in ground pool and spa in January 2015, so you have a spot to cool down or warm up depending on the season. We have resident redtail hawks that live in the surrounding eucalyptus trees, so you may see them soaring above while enjoying the swing under the big oak tree in the pasture. Come in the late spring and early summer to enjoy wild plums, pears and berries from the fruit trees on the property. Visit in the fall to breathe in the aromas of the annual grape harvest and crush. Our honeybee colonies, named 'Audrey' and 'Bernice', are out in the pasture and won't bother you if you don't bother them. They are solely focused on their work of making honey and 'bee bread' for the veteran and baby bees.

About Chris

Lori & Chris, your hosts, split their time between city life in San Francisco and rural relaxation in Sonoma. They love sharing their budding farm, affectionately called the 'Shug Shak', with new friends, old friends, family and the local Sonoma wildlife.

Chris purchased this farmhouse in 2013

Why Chris chose Sonoma

Sonoma is one of the most relaxing places in California. The locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. Excellent wine and food are a hallmark of the area. Once you visit, you'll be hooked.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Sonoma Square and vicinity has a lot to offer, but you may not want to leave our property once you get settled in. The courtyard, bocce court, pool, spa, swing under the oak tree in the pasture and the smell of honey emanating from the honeybee hives may just reel you in for good.

Tranquil and Practical

  • 5 of 5

I have always dreamed of having acres of land for my children to explore (and for me to get away from the rat race). Chris and Lori's is wonderful! And, practical! The kids and I love exploring their ever-evolving farm. The fruit in the yard is delicious, the raptors soar overhead, and the GIANT oaks dangle the most wonderful two-person tree swing ever! It's a throw-back to childhood in the 50's. I appreciate that there aren't any roosters to wake us and that Whole Foods, town and wineries are all nearby. Enjoy!

The house was beautiful and clean; kitchen was a great set up; and we especially enjoyed the lovely outdoor space. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing owner and amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

I got married in Sonoma and rented Chris and Lori's house for my family to stay over the wedding weekend. Chris seriously could not be more kind and helpful during the entire process. He answered all of my questions in record time. The house is beautifully appointed and has a cozy home feel - it's like visiting a good friend's house vs. a sterile vacation rental. The backyard is insane with an awesome bocce ball court and twinkling globe lights. The location is also super convenient to both Sonoma and Napa wineries and restaurants. Please don't hesitate in booking a stay if it's available!

Fun home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Chris and Lori have an amazing home in Sonoma! It is such a great location making it easy to access either Sonoma or Napa and all that wine country has to offer. The house itself has some fun activities like a bocce ball court making it a fun space for everyone. We were getting married in Sonoma and had our bridal party stay here - they loved it!

Excellent Sonoma property!

  • 5 of 5

My family recently stayed at Chris and Lori's place in Sonoma. What an absolute pleasure. The outdoor space is inviting and we had many BBQ's outside. There is plenty of space inside and the kitchen practically begs you to sit around the big farm table, eating cheese, drinking wine, and sharing stories and laughter. Sonoma feels much less congested than Napa and has tons of charm. If you are looking for a place to stay, look no further than this property.

Perfect fit!

  • 5 of 5

This house was a perfect fit for me and my friends, who were in town for a wedding. The location was ideal, the house was clean and beautiful, and the bocce court was icing on the cake. I would gladly rent here again.
