PANORAMIC VIEW OF MACKINAW ISLAND AND LIGHTHOUSE IN ST. IGNACE BAY

St Ignace Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Totally Updated And Professionally Decorated 3/2 Cottage With A View

This cottage was completely updated in 2009 offering three bedrooms, all with new mattresses and down duvets and pillows, two full baths, plus a year round sunroom. Relax on the spacious 16’ x 90’ wood deck offering panoramic views of Mackinaw Island and the lighthouse in downtown St. Ignace. On the deck is a recessed Nordic 12 jet hot tub, plenty of patio furniture, and a gas grill available to entertain your friends.

The 2nd deck is a large stone area hosting a beautiful stone fire pit completely surrounded with comfy chairs to enjoy the cool evenings while stargazing. Enjoy sitting in the swing overlooking the lighthouse and watch the Saturday night fireworks display put on by the City of St. Ignace, July 4th through Labor Day. Flowers abound on this property along with Michigan’s famous White Birch trees.

The state-of-the-art kitchen has everything a cook could need or want. Pots, pans, blender, panini grill and a slow cooker along with a 12 piece place setting of dishes. The owner loves cooking and has plenty of spices here for you to use to make your special meal. As noted in 'Life's Little Instruction Book'....be sure to spend time somewhere where you can hear the screen door slam. Coming to 'Summer Winds' you will do just that. Leave behind stale air conditioned air and come where fresh air is clean and crisp.

After traveling the world we came upon St. Igance and fell in love.

Kathy McMahon purchased this cottage in 2008

The home was in need of major renovations when we purchased it. But it was the view that sold us. After being all over the world the view from this house sold our hearts.

Sit in the hot tub and enjoy the most scenery around. This cottage is a little oasis.

The location is fantastic, the view, even in the winter, is really beautiful. We were lucky enough to be around when the ice bridge to mackinac island was in use, so we were able to watch snowmobilers go by all day and even walk the bridge ourselves from there. We were also conveniently close to the north country trail, which we went to for snowshoeing. The house itself is clean, well furnished, and great for groups. I could've sat in the living room looking out the window all day. We really loved the house, it was beautifully updated, and allowed us to have a fantastic weekend up north!

Where do I begin......Kathy and Bernie are AMAZING......and their property matches them. The house is so Beautiful and comfortable. Our home town suffered an F5 tornado on Nov 17, 2013 (Washington, IL) even though our house is still standing we did have major damage...over 160 of my church families lost their homes completely, many do not even have a piece of paper from their homes..there were over 1000 homes wiped out of our small town...Kathy and Bernies "Summer Winds" gave us a much needed place to get away from all the distruction. The views are amazing, the home is so beautifully decorated and well equipped..We enjoyed our Christmas in this enchanted cottage, it is like heaven on earth. Kathy was so amazing to work with. We enjoyed the beautiful town of St. Ignace shopping and just sight seeing. Christmas Eve we enjoyed Beef tenderlion and Christmas Day was the full Turkey dinner, the kitchen was so well equipped it was just like I was at home cooking and while we dinned we could see the beautiful lights of St. Ignace and I believe Kathy and Bernie ordered a white Christmas for us...the snows where amazing and Kathy and Bernie took such great care of us, we would wake up and the snow was already plowed. We got to meet some of there wonderful neighbors...we have fallen in love with St. Ignace and hope to retire there someday....but until then we hope to return to Summer Winds for as long as Kathy and Bernie will have us...words can never explain how truly wonderful this home is and how wonderful the owners are.....again Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for sharing with us your most amazingly beautiful cottage...it truly gave us one of our best Christmas's ever...and a wonderful retreat to recharge our batteries to return to our home to begin to rebuild...Highly recommended Thank you, Dan, Julie, and Katie

What a beautiful place to spend Thanksgiving!! Beautifully decorated, Spectacular view, with more amenities than one would hope for from a vacation rental. On our trip, we enjoyed all of the amenities Summer Winds had to offer (except the hot tub as it was closed for the season), and wanted for nothing while we were there-except more time!

The moment you walk into Summer Winds, you are relaxed. The kitchen had all the cookware, serving wear, and utility appliances, not to mention the spices and most of the supplies to create a Fantastic Thanksgiving. We brought many things from home that we thought we would need, but left them in the car when we saw how stocked the kitchen was.

We enjoyed looking through the many books and magazines on the shelves and used the binoculars to view a freighter that was anchored in the bay for the night and watch the boats that were traveling to and from Mackinac Island.

The vacation rental is within walking distance to the marina and downtown area which was great to walk off some of the holiday festivities! It was also great to walk into town and grab a quick lunch and drink when we didn't feel like cooking.

We have been to St Ignace many times in the summer, staying at one of the local hotels. We have also stayed in condo's in the Brevort area which all pale in comparison. Finding this vacation rental and having the time to enjoy all that Summer Winds had to offer, now has set the standard for all our vacation rentals pretty high.

Thank you for offering such a remarkable vacation rental :-)

As you leave the lower peninsula of Michigan and cross the Straits of Mackinaw on the Mackinac Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world you will arrive in St. Ignace. A small town founded in 1671 that has remained small and a place where visitors get a chance to escape away from it all and enjoy life at a slower pace.

Spectacular Vista’s abound with views overlooking St. Ignace's Harbor, lighthouse and historic Mackinac Island. Relax on the 16’ x 90’ private water view deck, sit in the hot tub jacuzzi and watch the Mackinac Island ferry boats, sailboats and the world go by.

Downtown is a short five-minute walk along the beach and boardwalk. While there enjoy gift and fudge shops, the Fort du Buade Museum, and a variety of restaurants offering everything from homemade pies and pasties, a local tradition, to homemade soups and local favorite - whitefish and perch- caught in the cool, fresh waters of the Straits of Mackinac.

What’s to Do?

Mackinaw Island:

Walk to the ferry that will carry you back in time. A place where the form of transporation is horse and carriage, bicycles or your own two feet. Beautiful downtown with shopping and photo opps abound. Hike the trails or ride your bike on the only state highway that prohibits motor vehicles.

Cruises:

There are many different cruises offered in the Straits of Mackinac area. Cruise beneath the mighty Mackinac Bridge, around Mackinac Island, past historic lighthouses and along scenic coastlines, to name just a few.

Tahquamenon Falls:

The Upper falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi.

Golfing:

The closest course for your enjoyment is the St. Ignace Golf and Country Club. Spectacular vistas of the Mackinac Bridge make this public course a 'must play'. Full pro shop with rentals and carts.
