PANORAMIC VIEW OF MACKINAW ISLAND AND LIGHTHOUSE IN ST. IGNACE BAY

St Ignace Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Totally Updated And Professionally Decorated 3/2 Cottage With A View

This cottage was completely updated in 2009 offering three bedrooms, all with new mattresses and down duvets and pillows, two full baths, plus a year round sunroom. Relax on the spacious 16’ x 90’ wood deck offering panoramic views of Mackinaw Island and the lighthouse in downtown St. Ignace. On the deck is a recessed Nordic 12 jet hot tub, plenty of patio furniture, and a gas grill available to entertain your friends.

The 2nd deck is a large stone area hosting a beautiful stone fire pit completely surrounded with comfy chairs to enjoy the cool evenings while stargazing. Enjoy sitting in the swing overlooking the lighthouse and watch the Saturday night fireworks display put on by the City of St. Ignace, July 4th through Labor Day. Flowers abound on this property along with Michigan’s famous White Birch trees.

The state-of-the-art kitchen has everything a cook could need or want. Pots, pans, blender, panini grill and a slow cooker along with a 12 piece place setting of dishes. The owner loves cooking and has plenty of spices here for you to use to make your special meal. As noted in 'Life's Little Instruction Book'....be sure to spend time somewhere where you can hear the screen door slam. Coming to 'Summer Winds' you will do just that. Leave behind stale air conditioned air and come where fresh air is clean and crisp. (Please note that spa, decks and fire pit are open seasonally)

After traveling the world we came upon St. Igance and fell in love.

Kathy McMahon purchased this cottage in 2008

The home was in need of major renovations when we purchased it. But it was the view that sold us. After being all over the world the view from this house sold our hearts.

Sit in the hot tub and enjoy the most scenery around. This cottage is a little oasis.

Fantastic Outdoor Living Space

  • 5 of 5
We had 5 adults and 2 children staying in the house and had plenty of room. The outdoor living area is the best part with the fire pit, hot tub, deck and patio. The view from the backyard is as advertised. The location is also fantastic. I would highly recommend this property for any vacationer.

  • 5 of 5
Summer Winds is a beautiful home. Extremely clean and well maintained. The deck and patio with the fire pit is wonderful! We spent much of our time outside. Also we enjoyed the beautiful flowers! The close location to town was also very convenient. We hope to return some day! Thank you for sharing this gem in St. Ignace!

Wonderful vacation at a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 6-8 (myself, husband, son, daughter-their significant other and mother and father in law for two nights)all had a great time at this beautiful, very clean, well appointed home. My MIL is on oxygen 24/7 and has a difficult time getting around and she totally loved it here. The grounds and the view from the back yard are fantastic! Everyone enjoyed relaxing after day hiks in the hot tub and relaxing in the porch swing while viewing the harbor as well as roasting marshmellow in the the firepit. Everything that you would need is there and well thought out. (I do have a suggestion that the hammock probably should be replaced-it is hanging pretty low-but it did not keep me from lying in it! We highly recommend this vacation home. There are quite a few activities within walking distance. It is very peaceful home/area. Kathy, owner, was a great communicator as well.

More Than a Rental -- A Home!

  • 5 of 5
Absolutely the most relaxing vacation we ever had -- by far! The house was everything it was advertised to be and more. From the moment we walked in, you could tell that two very creative people owned this adorable cottage. This vacation rental is a HOME. The scenery outside did not disappoint. We had two teenage boys and had no trouble keeping them busy. The boys loved the Mystery Spot, dunes, and of course the fudge! We enjoyed biking on Mackinaw Island. Everyone in the area were so friendly and nice. Our last night at the cottage we had pizza and played Monopoly. The porch swing area was a great place to read and watch boats. I would highly recommend Summer Winds. We will be back.

Summer Winds is 5 Star *****

  • 5 of 5
Summer Winds is exactly as pictured and described and more. There were 6 of us that stayed together for a week (my parents, 2 teenagers and my husband and I) at Summer Winds and we absolutely loved it. The location is amazing and the view of Mackinaw Island, the Lighthouse, and boats that come and go is priceless. The home is close to everything. You can walk or ride your bike to the beach, downtown, and grocery stores. The temperature was normal for early June in the UP. We did a few day trips to the Soo Locks, Mackinaw Island, Mackinaw City, and a few days just relaxing around the house. I took my road bike and road for miles in opposite directions on the 2 which was a blast. The home has everything that you can think of and more. There is plenty of living space, closet and dresser space inside and a big garage for bikes (with or without motors). The deck and fire pit area is very large. The lay out of the home is superb and with 6 people, we never felt on top of one another. At times, we had to yell "You HOO" to find each other at opposite ends of the home. The home comes equipped with nice bed linens, towels and face cloths. The home is spotless and very inviting. It is packed with all sorts of movies, cards, games and anything else you can think of. We wanted for nothing during our stay. I loved being able to have a washer and dryer to use so that I didn't have mounds of laundry to do once I returned home from vacation. We would highly recommend this home to friends, family and strangers. I've never had such a great experience with finding a listing that is exactly as described. Bernie & Kathy have a remarkable home and we feel very blessed that they have opened it up to others so that we all can enjoy such a wonderful getaway spot.

As you leave the lower peninsula of Michigan and cross the Straits of Mackinaw on the Mackinac Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world you will arrive in St. Ignace. A small town founded in 1671 that has remained small and a place where visitors get a chance to escape away from it all and enjoy life at a slower pace.

Spectacular Vista’s abound with views overlooking St. Ignace's Harbor, lighthouse and historic Mackinac Island. Relax on the 16’ x 90’ private water view deck, sit in the hot tub jacuzzi and watch the Mackinac Island ferry boats, sailboats and the world go by.

Downtown is a short five-minute walk along the beach and boardwalk. While there enjoy gift and fudge shops, the Fort du Buade Museum, and a variety of restaurants offering everything from homemade pies and pasties, a local tradition, to homemade soups and local favorite - whitefish and perch- caught in the cool, fresh waters of the Straits of Mackinac.

What’s to Do?

Mackinaw Island:

Walk to the ferry that will carry you back in time. A place where the form of transporation is horse and carriage, bicycles or your own two feet. Beautiful downtown with shopping and photo opps abound. Hike the trails or ride your bike on the only state highway that prohibits motor vehicles.

Cruises:

There are many different cruises offered in the Straits of Mackinac area. Cruise beneath the mighty Mackinac Bridge, around Mackinac Island, past historic lighthouses and along scenic coastlines, to name just a few.

Tahquamenon Falls:

The Upper falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi.

Golfing:

The closest course for your enjoyment is the St. Ignace Golf and Country Club. Spectacular vistas of the Mackinac Bridge make this public course a 'must play'. Full pro shop with rentals and carts.
