Overview

St Ignace Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Totally Updated And Professionally Decorated 3/2 Cottage With A View

This cottage was completely updated in 2009 offering three bedrooms, all with new mattresses and down duvets and pillows, two full baths, plus a year round sunroom. Relax on the spacious 16’ x 90’ wood deck offering panoramic views of Mackinaw Island and the lighthouse in downtown St. Ignace. On the deck is a recessed Nordic 12 jet hot tub, plenty of patio furniture, and a gas grill available to entertain your friends.

The 2nd deck is a large stone area hosting a beautiful stone fire pit completely surrounded with comfy chairs to enjoy the cool evenings while stargazing. Enjoy sitting in the swing overlooking the lighthouse and watch the Saturday night fireworks display put on by the City of St. Ignace, July 4th through Labor Day. Flowers abound on this property along with Michigan’s famous White Birch trees.

The state-of-the-art kitchen has everything a cook could need or want. Pots, pans, blender, panini grill and a slow cooker along with a 12 piece place setting of dishes. The owner loves cooking and has plenty of spices here for you to use to make your special meal. As noted in 'Life's Little Instruction Book'....be sure to spend time somewhere where you can hear the screen door slam. Coming to 'Summer Winds' you will do just that. Leave behind stale air conditioned air and come where fresh air is clean and crisp. (Please note that spa, decks and fire pit are open seasonally)

A True Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5
An ideal environment for a family to develop lasting memories. Spacious and with all the services and appliances typically found in many homes. You supply the people and meals, the rest is provided in the cottage and outside environment. St. Ignace was a very hospitable town.

Very clean and well maintained cottage with a beautiful view of Mackinaw Island and Bay. Besides doing our own cooking, we enjoyed going into town to eat local food with some of the local people.

Management provided excellent customer service. Was very responsive to our needs. Before renting the property, I read all the posted reviews. All were confirmed from our own experiences.

Excellent home!

  • 5 of 5
I don't now how this could have been more perfect! The home is beautiful. The hot tub and deck was great. Too cold to use the fire pit, but we will next year. The view is gorgeous. 4 girls (age 55+) spent a weekend there. I've been in many vacation homes through the years, and this one beats them all! Booking again next year. The owners are professional and polite. We loved every minute and didn't want to leave the home!

Cozy place to watch the snow fall on the ice!

  • 5 of 5
A group of couples came up during the less popular winter months to snowshoe, and found the cabin a great place to relax and warm up while watching snow fall over the lake. After watching snowmobiles drive back and forth to the island for a day, we ended up walking (yes, walking) the ice bridge, just to say we did it. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals together, rooms are very nice, and I love the cozy living room furniture and want it in my house...

Wonderful Cottage!

  • 5 of 5
We came up to St. Ignace for a long weekend (Friday - Monday). Kathy's cottage had everything we needed and more!! Upon arrival on Friday we were excited to see the hammock and hot tub all ready for us to relax in after our long car ride up to the Upper Peninsula. The view of St Ignace and Lake Huron was spectacular. We enjoyed watching the ferries coming to and from the docks. The inside of the house was warm and cozy with everything that we needed for our short stay and more. The bed sheets and pillows were so soft and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with more than we needed. The interior of the house was so nicely decorated that I ended up taking some pictures of little corners so that I could remember how lovely it was. We made day trips to the Taquemehnon Falls, Whitefish Point, Soo Locks and Mackinaw Island. Coming back to the cottage after 2 busy days was such a relief knowing that everything we needed and more was there to help us wind down. We are going to try to make this an annual fall trip so we will be back to Summer Winds very soon! Thank you so much!

Happy vacationer!

  • 5 of 5
This home was so beautiful.... so well equipped..... so comfortable.... We wished we could stay forever!! We did a "Girl Friends Weekend" and could not have been happier! Comfortable furniture, comfortable beds.... BEAUTIFUL view of Lake Michigan! It rained all 4 days we were there, but it did not dampen our fun! We enjoyed the hot tub (between rain drops)... and were warm and toasty with the fire in the fire place.... We plan to return!

Spectacular Home with Stunning Views!

  • 5 of 5
We had booked a diving charter with Straits Scuba and needed a place to stay, Summer Winds far surpassed our expectations. This large home is incredibly well appointed and the views are absolutely beautiful. I have booked many VRBOs and this one tops the list. The attached garage is huge, could easily hold 4 cars with room leftover and gave us tons of space to dry our scuba gear. It was a pleasure to stay at Summer Winds and we would very highly recommend it. Hopefully everyone that books it takes great care of it as it is a gem. We had our charter captain Larry over for dinner and took him on a tour, he's been operating in St. Ignace for 30 years and had no idea such a beautiful place existed there. He said it was move in ready and was heading home to grab a bag! lol

As you leave the lower peninsula of Michigan and cross the Straits of Mackinaw on the Mackinac Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world you will arrive in St. Ignace. A small town founded in 1671 that has remained small and a place where visitors get a chance to escape away from it all and enjoy life at a slower pace.

Spectacular Vista’s abound with views overlooking St. Ignace's Harbor, lighthouse and historic Mackinac Island. Relax on the 16’ x 90’ private water view deck, sit in the hot tub jacuzzi and watch the Mackinac Island ferry boats, sailboats and the world go by.

Downtown is a short five-minute walk along the beach and boardwalk. While there enjoy gift and fudge shops, the Fort du Buade Museum, and a variety of restaurants offering everything from homemade pies and pasties, a local tradition, to homemade soups and local favorite - whitefish and perch- caught in the cool, fresh waters of the Straits of Mackinac.

What’s to Do?

Mackinaw Island:

Walk to the ferry that will carry you back in time. A place where the form of transporation is horse and carriage, bicycles or your own two feet. Beautiful downtown with shopping and photo opps abound. Hike the trails or ride your bike on the only state highway that prohibits motor vehicles.

Cruises:

There are many different cruises offered in the Straits of Mackinac area. Cruise beneath the mighty Mackinac Bridge, around Mackinac Island, past historic lighthouses and along scenic coastlines, to name just a few.

Tahquamenon Falls:

The Upper falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi.

Golfing:

The closest course for your enjoyment is the St. Ignace Golf and Country Club. Spectacular vistas of the Mackinac Bridge make this public course a 'must play'. Full pro shop with rentals and carts.
