Wilmington House Rental Photos and Description
4 bedroom, 3 bathroom secluded home
The Wilmington Wilderness House is our personal home. We are not property managers. We love our home and the area and want to allow others to experience the beauty of the Adirondacks when we are out RVing. It is by no means perfect, (which is quickly noticed by the wildflowers that grow where many people would have grass) but it is a great place to stay while you enjoy all that the area has to offer. A note to potential winter renters...you will need a four wheel drive vehicle to get up the driveway in the winter.
Outside: There is a brook that borders the property and a walking trail that runs alongside it. Open the windows to hear the brook babbling all year round. Cross the brook to access the Cooper Kiln Trail from our back yard where you can hike or snowshoe to the Pond. The house is located on 5 acres of land, which is mostly wooded and cannot be seen from the road. Enjoy the peace and quiet of total seclusion. It's one of the things we love so much about the property. Sit in the Adirondack chairs around the chimnea for a feeling of camping. There is even a short, lighted seasonal path for walking your dog at night through the property. The 2 stall garage is available to you throughout your stay (no electricity in the garage).
Inside: Most people come to the area to enjoy the outdoor activities it offers. However, the weather doesn't always cooperate. When the snow isn't good, or if the rain ruins your plans, there is much to do in the house. Wireless internet is included. We have chosen not to have a TV. However, we do have a movie room in the basement with a huge VHS movie library for your enjoyment. The playroom includes a bench full of toys for your little ones and a ping pong table. In the basement is a shelf full of puzzles, and board games. Or, feel free to borrow a book from our library loft and sit in a quiet room to read. The house does not have central air. There are air conditioners in three of the bedrooms (not one in the basement bedroom) and in the dining room/living room area to cool you down on a hot summer night. Sit in the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom and look out the window to see the Jay Mountain Range. We have just completed the 'bouldering loft' where you can practice your bouldering skills.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms: The house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. On the main floor of the house are two bedrooms. One bedroom includes two sets of bunk beds and the other has a queen log bed with a tempurpedic mattress. There is one bathroom on the main floor. The master suite is located on the second floor of the house. There is a king sized log bed with a tempurpedic mattress. The master bathroom is huge and has a jacuzzi tub. The forth bedroom is in the basement and has a queen bed. Attached to this bedroom is a bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower.
Kitchen: The kitchen is stocked with everything you need including spices, paper products, dishes, silverware, etc. It includes a dishwasher, microwave, and gas stove/oven.
Living Room/Dining Room: The house offers an open floor plan. The dining room and living room can be rearranged so the dining room table can be expanded to seat 12 people. Or, it can be made cozy for 4.
Other: The laundry room has high efficiency washing machine and dryer for your use. Make a fire in the fireplace in the winter to sit by and relax after a long day of outdoor activities.
Pets: Dogs are more than welcome in our home. We have two large breed dogs who travel everywhere with us. We do our best to keep the house clean, but be prepared that you may find dog hair around the house. We also have kennels for the dogs permanently set up in the area between the living room and dining room, which are hidden when not in use.

About Bonnie Parent
We moved to Wilmington after living in Colorado. Although we loved Colorado, we wanted to be in the Northeast to be closer to family. The only place that we found that fit into our lifestyle was the Adirondacks. We love to travel. Now, we spend our time between Colorado and Wilmington. Instead of having the house sit empty while we travel, we decided to open it for others to enjoy. We have rented homes all over the country and it seemed like a good way to allow us to travel and still have our house taken care of.
Bonnie Parent purchased this house in 2008
Why Bonnie Parent chose Wilmington
When we decided on the area, we looked for a long time before purchasing this property. We love the quiet that is provided by this house. The brook is a special feature. And, the house is surrounded by 60,000 acres of State land. So, we know that it will always be as secluded as it is today.
