Wilmington House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedroom, 3 bathroom secluded home

The Wilmington Wilderness House is our personal home. We are not property managers. We love our home and the area and want to allow others to experience the beauty of the Adirondacks when we are out RVing. It is by no means perfect, (which is quickly noticed by the wildflowers that grow where many people would have grass) but it is a great place to stay while you enjoy all that the area has to offer. A note to potential winter renters...you will need a four wheel drive vehicle to get up the driveway in the winter.

Outside: There is a brook that borders the property and a walking trail that runs alongside it. Open the windows to hear the brook babbling all year round. Cross the brook to access the Cooper Kiln Trail from our back yard where you can hike or snowshoe to the Pond. The house is located on 5 acres of land, which is mostly wooded and cannot be seen from the road. Enjoy the peace and quiet of total seclusion. It's one of the things we love so much about the property. Sit in the Adirondack chairs around the chimnea for a feeling of camping. There is even a short, lighted seasonal path for walking your dog at night through the property. The 2 stall garage is available to you throughout your stay (no electricity in the garage).

Inside: Most people come to the area to enjoy the outdoor activities it offers. However, the weather doesn't always cooperate. When the snow isn't good, or if the rain ruins your plans, there is much to do in the house. Wireless internet is included. We have chosen not to have a TV. However, we do have a movie room in the basement with a huge VHS movie library for your enjoyment. The playroom includes a bench full of toys for your little ones and a ping pong table. In the basement is a shelf full of puzzles, and board games. Or, feel free to borrow a book from our library loft and sit in a quiet room to read. The house does not have central air. There are air conditioners in three of the bedrooms (not one in the basement bedroom) and in the dining room/living room area to cool you down on a hot summer night. Sit in the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom and look out the window to see the Jay Mountain Range. We have just completed the 'bouldering loft' where you can practice your bouldering skills.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms: The house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. On the main floor of the house are two bedrooms. One bedroom includes two sets of bunk beds and the other has a queen log bed with a tempurpedic mattress. There is one bathroom on the main floor. The master suite is located on the second floor of the house. There is a king sized log bed with a tempurpedic mattress. The master bathroom is huge and has a jacuzzi tub. The forth bedroom is in the basement and has a queen bed. Attached to this bedroom is a bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower.

Kitchen: The kitchen is stocked with everything you need including spices, paper products, dishes, silverware, etc. It includes a dishwasher, microwave, and gas stove/oven.

Living Room/Dining Room: The house offers an open floor plan. The dining room and living room can be rearranged so the dining room table can be expanded to seat 12 people. Or, it can be made cozy for 4.

Other: The laundry room has high efficiency washing machine and dryer for your use. Make a fire in the fireplace in the winter to sit by and relax after a long day of outdoor activities.

Pets: Dogs are more than welcome in our home. We have two large breed dogs who travel everywhere with us. We do our best to keep the house clean, but be prepared that you may find dog hair around the house. We also have kennels for the dogs permanently set up in the area between the living room and dining room, which are hidden when not in use.

About Bonnie Parent

We moved to Wilmington after living in Colorado. Although we loved Colorado, we wanted to be in the Northeast to be closer to family. The only place that we found that fit into our lifestyle was the Adirondacks. We love to travel. Now, we spend our time between Colorado and Wilmington. Instead of having the house sit empty while we travel, we decided to open it for others to enjoy. We have rented homes all over the country and it seemed like a good way to allow us to travel and still have our house taken care of.

Bonnie Parent purchased this house in 2008

Why Bonnie Parent chose Wilmington

When we decided on the area, we looked for a long time before purchasing this property. We love the quiet that is provided by this house. The brook is a special feature. And, the house is surrounded by 60,000 acres of State land. So, we know that it will always be as secluded as it is today.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5
A perfect weekend getaway home. We were a group of 8 people and we had a very comfortable stay and fun filled weekend. House and it surroundings is very beautiful.
The owner is extremely helpful and she even refunded us some money back when we had a small issue with the gas stove. We will definitely return back next year.

PERFECT, AMAZING HOUSE AND VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
I cannot say enough great things about this house and the owner, Bonnie. Super helpful and so friendly from the very start.
The house is absolutely perfect. Spotless and well maintained, with everything you could possibly need. Cooking utensils were plentiful (even a potato masher, Keurig, and corn pot), some condiments and spices for your use, extra blankets, sheets, towels, air mattresses, bug spray, flashlights, dog crates (!!!), details about the area, you name it...they've thought of everything!
The house is extremely comfortable. Nice comfy furniture to curl up on. A wonderful open floor plan so everyone can be together, yet more than enough room so no one is on top of each other. A great view of the firepit from the kitchen so if you're the one on dinner detail, you can still watch what's going on outside.
The ping pong table provided some fun tournaments, and their meticulously alphabetized movie library rivals all. SO MANY choices!!! VERY impressed.
Bedrooms private and comfortable. Jacuzzi tub in the master bath with a view of the mountains (and they leave candles next to it for you!!!)
Now the property.....the brook on the property was outstanding. We loved listening to the moving water. SOOOO peaceful. the property is natural, no finicky well groomed lawns, just wonderful mountain vegetation, but lots of cleared areas for games and hanging out. We could hike right from the property and our dog loved, loved, loved exploring every inch of the beautiful, super private, large property. We had a fire outside every night but one and that lent itself to long conversations with cocktails and smore making.
The house is secluded and you feel a million miles away from it all, but at the same time, it's just less than three miles to the main intersection in town that leads to all sorts of great things.
The area is jam packed with stuff to do for outdoor lovers. Hiking, swimming holes, lakes with kayaks, canoes, pontoon boats, mountain biking.....everything!
Yeah, I can't say enough great things about this house and the area. Even with a 250 team lacrosse tournament in Lake Placid, we still didn't feel overwhelmed with people.
An absolutely wonderful house and spot to really relax and enjoy your family and nature.
Go!

Fantastic Dog friendly Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5
Had a fantastic weekend at this property. The house is in great shape, very spacious, and well set up for many people. The whole property is very isolated which is great for getting away and for your dogs. Property has a nice stream running through it that adds a great sound and is great for dogs to cool off in. Overall a great weekend and I would recommend this property for any occasion with any group of people.

Wonderful family Home!

  • 5 of 5
Great house! We were four adults and four children (9-12yo) and had plenty of room and comfortable sleeping arrangements. The kids all slept in the spacious bunk room and spent numerous time playing ping pong in the sound proof game room. This was their favorite VRBO rental ever and we come twice a year to Wilmington. They never missed the T.V. Really a fantastic place for kids as well as adults. Bonnie made us feel very welcome and checked on us early in our stay to see if we needed anything. We didn't. The house comes well equipped with anything you could need. Great location too....minutes to Whiteface. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. It's great to know that you all had such a wonderful time at our home. Thank you for the input about the TV. We have been going back and forth since we started renting our home out about whether or not to have the home equiped with TV. We decided on the movie library instead of cable hoping that there were enough other things in the house to keep folks of all ages happy and occupied. Thank you for choosing our home for your vacation. I'm pleased to know that of all the homes you have stayed at with vrbo that ours fit your needs best. I look forward to having you and your family stay in our home again.

Dream Ski Vacation

  • 5 of 5
This was the first time myself and my group had ever been to Lake Placid to ski and I don't know that any trip will be as good as this one in the coming years.

A quick drive from Toronto, Canada, the Lake Placid area and Whiteface mountain are a gem that end up being much closer than anything in Montreal. The best piece was this house. Graciously offering their home, we couldn't believe our luck when we pulled up the driveway to find such a fantastic home in such a great location!

We were speechless the moment we arrived, and felt the same way as we were set to leave. This was near impossible to beat, and I think our group definitely found a jewel in this home. I can't imagine booking another ski trip in the North East without putting this home, and location, at the top of the list again.

Vacationers look no further. This is the rental for you.

Wilmington, NY is located a short 15 miles from Lake Placid. The drive to Lake Placid is an amazingly beautiful drive. In the winter, take the short drive to Lake Placid to ride on the bobsled track or take an elevator ride to the top of the ski jumps. Or, stay in Wilmington where there is plenty to do. Wilmington has a great town beach located on Lake Everest where you can swim, play beach volleyball, rent canoes and kayaks, grill on the charcoal grills, and play on the playground. There are mountain biking trails at the Flume and a fun swimming hole. The area is full of outdoor activities including rock climbing, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, golf, and fishing. Fish in the famous Ausable River or ski/snowboard down Whiteface Mountain. For family fun, choose The North Pole amusement park, the CandyMan chocolate store, or play miniature golf at the North Pole resort. Or, take the drive up Whiteface Memorial Highway for views that will not be forgotten.
