About John & Dee

Aloha, This is Our Story... During the first several months upon relocating to Hawaii, we met an old Native Hawaiian living along Ka’a’awa’s beautiful coastline. He asked what brought us to Hawaii, and without even giving it a thought, I replied something to the effect about job transfer. He slowly rubbed his chin and nodded showing his disagreement and then humbly responded in a soft voice, “You were brought here to heal…” Little did we know at that moment, but healing was the one thing we both truly needed in our lives, and slowly over several years this beautiful stretch of coastline and the warm waters of Ka'a'awa has 'healed us'. To this day we recall the profound truth in Joe’s statement so many years ago…“You were brought here to heal”. In combination with unquestionable faith, it is amazing what the warm tranquil waters and the soft sands of Ka’a’awa can do… Our move to Hawaii is just but one chapter in Our Journey. We would love the opportunity to share the Secrets and Aloha of our small piece of Heaven as you travel along 'Your Life's Journey...' Mahalo, John & Dee

The house was exactly as represented in the pictures and description and exceeded our expectations. I'm always a little nervous with a booking but this property was fantastic and did not disappoint in any way. From the cleanliness of the rooms to the supplies, furniture, beds, yard, location and parking there was not a single concern. Special thanks to Jon and Dee for going above and beyond to help us navigate a problem with our travel arrangements, we are so grateful. The whole trip was a very positive experience for us and so thankful we made the right choice on where to stay. Thanks!

Owner's Response: Aloha & Mahalo Dave for the wonderful comments. It was a pleasure hosting you and your family, and working through/assisting with your travel arrangement “problem” to ensure your vacation “stayed-on-track” without unnecessary worries. We do our best to treat each and every prospective, current, and future guest with compassion, dignity and respect as if it were their first time visiting the islands. Furthermore, we are humble and blessed to be able to share Ka’a’awa’s peacefulness and beauty with you and your family. Dee works extremely hard to make sure that our guests have the most hygienically clean accommodations possible, as well as the small necessities in order to make folks feel “at home”. We do our best with respect to representing the actual accommodations our guests expect upon arrival by updating photos, etc. approx every 6-months. Our home will always be open to you and yours, it was our pleasure and we look forward to your family’s next visit. Aloha & Mahalo, John & Dee

We brought our 3 teenagers to Hawaii, had an excellent time, memories they will never forget. The house was super clean and had everything we needed, and some things we didn't even know we needed. After traveling the entire Island, and I do mean "entire", we would never stay anywhere else. I love the country feel, as we live in the country as well. So very homey and beautiful. I've got kids like every one else, "very tech society", but the joy it brought me to hear them say after a fun filled day, "Mom, can we just go home now and sit on the porch?" It almost brought me to tears. We hardly even watched TV, but we did dance on the Lani, a lot! Thank you John and Dee, best vacation EVER!!!

Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

This was such a nice home in the "village" of Kaaawa. We were looking for a quiet place tucked away from all the other tourist activities and we got exactly what we were looking for. We came with our family and our parents. The property is large enough to not feel claustrophobic with 7 people. The views of the mountains were amazing. Our kids enjoyed the large enclosed yard to run around in. The mornings and evenings on the lanai were wonderful. The house is located near a lot of beaches. There is a 7/11 down the street and a Longs drugstore about 20 minutes away. There are a few places to eat nearby but the majority of the places are about a 25-30 minute drive. This house is definitely tucked away (which we absolutely loved). The home was clean and well stocked with linens and toiletries. There were plenty of sand toys (boogie boards, snorkel gear, sand buckets, umbrella, mats) and beach towels. Homeowner was very helpful in answering any questions we had. Our family had a wonderful time and we were all very sad to leave. We hope to make it back again!

We look forward to having you back and hosting your family as our guests in the future. Mahalo, John & Dee

Our family gathering

  • 5 of 5

Our family held our reunion at this lovely Kaaawa home and were pleasantly surprised. The price was excellent and so were the accommodations. The home is fully equipped with excellent towels and linens and all of the kitchen amenities you would need. We were just a short walk from the beach and were able to host large dinners in this home comfortably. We'll definitely be back.

Owner's Response: Aloha Mae, It was our pleasure hosting your family reunion. Dee takes exceptional pride in not only making sure accommodations for all of our guests meet their expectations, but does her best to exceed them. She wants everyone we host to feel as much "at home" as possible by providing all that is needed for an enjoyable stay to include a fully equipped kitchen, high-end linens and bath towels, and associated beach items from snorkeling gear to childrens' beach toys. We look forward to hosting you and your family again, and our home will always be open and awaiting your return to the island. Mahalo, John & Dee

So much better than staying in a hotel!!!

  • 5 of 5

This home was just what we were hoping for. It was clean, comfortable and well-situated. Beach access is easy, though the better beaches (in our opinion) were a quick car-ride away. Also, there's a 7-11 a short walk away, as well as probably the best BBQ on the island: Uncle Bobo's. The house has boogie boards, masks, snorkels and plenty of towels. There is cable TV, though there wasn't much of anything on to watch; still, with the included wi-fi, we were able to stream content to end the day with. All in all, a great place to stay...

Owner's Response: Aloha Roman, Thank you for the comments about the home's cleanliness; Dee takes particular attention when it comes to cleaning to ensure our guests have the most hygienically clean accommodations possible. We also make sure there are plenty of beach items for our guests such as beach chairs, boogie boards, masks & snorkels, and various items for younger children to play in the sand, and we’re glad you took advantage of these items. Once again, thank you for having the faith, trust and confidence in allowing us to host you as our guests. We are grateful that you were comfortable and your enjoyed your stay, and our home will always be open to you whenever visiting the island. Mahalo, John & Dee
