My wife and I have been sharing our 'slice of heaven' for 29 years.

Steve Kellar purchased this cottage in 1984

Unlike many lake properties where the cabins are close to one another, Silver Rock will give you the feel of the only cottage on the entire lake.

One visit to Silver Rock will give you that true 'up north' feeling. Lake Huron is approx. 3 miles away and there are smaller Trout streams in any direction. The American Indians referred to this area as 'Sacred Land'.

We stayed at the cottage last summer and had a wonderful experience. Friendly owners and a great location. Took our motorcycles from Ohio and had the experience of a lifetime! We will definetely be back.

Little piece of heaven on earth

We've been traveling to this location for many years and it just gets harder and harder to leave everytime we visit. The very cozy, always spotless, fully furnished cabin has awesome views of the lake from inside or off the wrap around deck, where you can see all kinds of wildlife both in the water and on the shores. While there are plenty of other things do within an hours drive from the cabin, we rarely leave the property while visiting as we go to enjoy the serenity of the lake and fishing, which was excellent this time of year. Being a no-wake lake makes for a tranquil cruise around the lake. The hosts are always hospitable in recommending things to see or places to visit and are just as likely to invite guests down to the fire pit for an evening around the bonfire. Or if you prefer to have privacy, they are very respectful of that too. If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this little piece of heaven on earth will definitely bring some peace and calm back into your life for the time you are there. We are already looking forward to our next visit!!

Just spent a BEAUTIFUL Fall weekend at Silver Rock and we know we will return someday. TRULY loved our stay there. We took a friend along and our dog who was welcomed and treated just as we treat him. He loved the resident chocolate lab, Zoe, who is a real sweet girl. The view from the cabin is AWESOME and breathtaking! Amazing sunsets, AMAZING STAR GAZING!!! A pair of nesting bald eagles with two young on the far side of the lake and we were able to have close up fly overs by all FOUR!!! Cormorants, geese, ducks, loons and a Great Blue Heron too. Close drive to go to Ocqueoc Falls and lots of light houses, Lake Huron beaches and so many great places we didn't get to visit.
Cabin is CLEAN and up to date, appliances, full kitchen and even a washer and dryer if you need it. It's a great value - they have a boat with motor, canoes, paddle boat and a fire pit ring with firewood and it's all included, no extra fees for any of that. If you want to canoe the river out to Lake Huron, they will come and pick you up for $20!!!

Rental was above expections. Very clean and updated home. View, from the dining room and porch, of the lake are spectacular. We were familiar with the area, but the owner suggested some things we did not know about. Alpena and Rogers City are biking friendly cities. Alpena has a free NOAA museum that has more exhibits than our last visit 3 years ago. West Winds restaurant in Onaway has good food that is splitable. This a place we plan on returning in the future.

We arrived with our teenage daughter and our two dogs, looking for the remote northern Michigan experience, and it didn't let us down. The property was very clean and cozy, with great new appliances, including HDTV. The views of the quiet, dark Lake Ocqueoc are fantastic. Loons called at dawn and bald eagles flew overhead. My teenage daughter, who was terrified about no wifi access, acknowledged that there is no way to compare the Milky Way on a moonless night to anything on the internet. Our gracious and friendly hosts live next door, but are totally unobtrusive and specially helpful for exploring nearby attractions. Rogers City for groceries and the amazing 3 Hearts bakery. Ocqueoc Falls is a must. Mackinaw City still has all the fudge shops and aimless tourists that you may not need to see. Or you can skip flat stones on the water of mile after mile of Lake Huron beaches. The week raced by without noticing, and it was all perfect.

Although our cottage is a very secluded setting, there are many activities within a 1 hour drive. Gaylord is a golf mecca. Petosky has many shops as well as a Casino. Mackinaw Island is famous for its shops as well as it's historical importance. There are thousands of acres of state land nearby.
