No pictures, videos or words can do justice to describe this property. It is designed to take your breath away,
Architectural style of the house is a west-coast contemporary to modern, finished in July 2013, with a gourmet kitchen, polished concrete heated floors, floor to ceiling windows, large south facing deck overlooking the ocean.
The main living area is an open-concept design with stunning views of the ocean. The kitchen has Caesar stone counter tops, a six burner Viking range with griddle and two ovens, a Viking fridge, Jura ENA 4 coffee machine, Asko dishwasher, and a gas barbecue (just outside the kitchen on the smaller of the two decks).
The indoor dining table is made of rustic wood and it is complimented with modern looking Eames chairs, comfortably seating eight people. The living room has a vaulted, sloping ceiling, gas fireplace and custom designed furniture.
The west side of the dining room has an accordion style “window wall” that opens up to the deck. The south facing deck has a teak dining table that also seats eight. The deck is protected from prevailing SW winds.
Huge rocks shelter the house from the sea. The beach is pebble-strewn and awash with driftwood. There are two shallow-entry pools of water near the house. They are great access points to the water for people and boats. As the tide comes in the shallow waters are warmer than expected.
Off of the side entrance is a separate mudroom. The mudroom has an extra-capacity washer and dryer.
The master suite is located in a separate wing of the main floor. Its polished concrete floors, views and king sized bed give the room a feel of elegance and breeziness. The master bath has a large walk-in glassed shower with a rain shower-head and smooth stone tiles underfoot. There is a separate modern stand-alone bathtub (with views out through the bedroom and to the ocean if you choose to leave the bathroom door open!)
The second floor has three bedrooms, a bathroom and desk area. Each room has a queen sized bed as well as a closet for you to store your belongings during your stay. Two of the rooms are south facing with views of the ocean and one is north facing with a vaulted ceiling and with views of the trees. The bathroom has two sinks, a toilet and another nice shower.
In terms of technology and gadgets, you will be fully connected. There is a Wi-fi Internet, VOIP phone for free phone calls within North America, and wireless all-in one printer. There are two 50 inch flat screen TVs, one in the living room and one in the master bedroom. The house is connected with cable and 'whole-house PVR'. There are built in speakers in each room (not every room has a receiver yet). The living room has a Bluetooth and Airplay connected receiver. You can control speakers for living-room, dining room and deck from a speaker switcher.
The house is heated with hot water in-floor radiant heat on the main floor, and hot water baseboards in the second floor. Each room’s heat is controlled via simple to use Nest Thermostats.
We have two kayaks (single and tendem). Ideally, you should bring your own suitable life jackets that fit you. You will be asked to sign a waiver if you want to use the Kayaks.
We cannot possibly list everything that makes this house special.
If you need more space for larger gatherings, we also have a semi-detached guest suite that can accommodate another 3-4 guests. VRBO listing link is: http://www.vrbo.com/485205
If want to rent the entire property, the main house and the guest suite, the rate is $1,000 per night, minimum 7 nights. If you want to use just the main house (4 bedrooms, and do not need to have the guest house rented then the price is $700 per night for a minimum of the 7 nights stay. We no longer rent the guest suite separately, if the main house is rented. We do NOT rent just for the weekends.
This is a great place for weddings, corporate events (strategic planning, retreats), family reunions, and corporate transfers. Will consider monthly rentals in off season (Oct. to March). A lady next door is willing to arrange catering for corporate type events.
Please email if you other questions. Serious enquiries only please.
We are a family of five with three teen agers. I run a technology company and my wife teaches part-time and looks after the family rest of the time. We live in Vancouver and have just built this house mostly for summer use.
Because it WILL take your breath away.
This is our dream home that we share with a few families.
Very few such high end properties are rentable for short stays. We have built the house in a way to give us some comfort with renting our home. For instance, each room has two closets, one of which is lockable and the other closet is left left empty for guests. Our pantry locks. We have done many house exchanges over the years so we have experience sharing our personal space with people we have never met.
Biggest attraction specifically for this house, given that you are practically sitting on the ocean, protected by large boulders, is watching the ocean. If you have boat you can fish or put a trap down for crabs. Right behind the house you have access to trails for hiking and biking.
