great family vacation

I stayed last August for a week with my kids in this condo. it was wonderful. it is close to the beach but far enough away that you do not have the hassle of people walking around your room. the pool was nice and clean. the condo was clean and the beds were nice. the kids enjoyed the freedom to move around without being stuck in one hotel room. the balcony was nice to eat an evening meal on. the kids loved the blankets that were in the condo so much that I had to find ones like them when we got home. great owner. very quick to respond and very nice. have booked again this year and am looking forward to coming back yearly

Wonderful Location

Thank goodness we found this location two years ago and ever since our family has been coming back. The owner is very pleasant and easy to work with she was very knowledgeable and on point when explaining the property and the amenities. The pictures are accurate and up to date. For the price you can't beat it anywhere on the Grand Strand. The unit is very clean and well kept there is plenty of room and plenty of beds. We like to cook and there is more than enough kitchen supplies I love this because its less I have to pack there are also grills and a play ground on the premises but for those who don't like to cook no worries there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance not to mention you are in walking distance to Family Kingdom Amusement Park, there is also miniature golf beside this unit as well as a Starbucks directly across the street on the boulevard there are so many possibilities from an indoor pool if its raining and when it sunny you can relax in the lazy river, standard pool and for those that have children there are 2 kiddie pools and shuffleboard. We also enjoy the two in one view of the beautiful ocean and pool from this unit. We come here several times a year and we will continue to choose this unit as our vacation destination we were truly blessed to find this"hot spot" thank goodness for this extremely kind hearted owner for renting her wonderful property for others to enjoy!!!! I would most definitely refer this unit to my family and friends. As far as I'm concerned the owner has a customer for life.

DISHONEST - DID NOT REFUND MONEY AS AGREED UPON

When I arrived to the property I walked in and almost slipped and fell on top of a bug bomb. There were two bug bombs one in each room and the floor was slippery from a thick coating of bug spray. The fumes were horrible and I got a head ache and sore throat just in the short time I carefully walked through. The bottom cabinets in the kitchen area were open, with cooking things like toaster, etc. exposed to the bug bomb. The coffee maker was out on the counter and had been sprayed too. There are beds taking up most of the rooms so I'm guessing the beds were covered in bug bomb spray also. This presented a serious health hazard to me and my family especially my 10 month old son who loves to crawl on the floor. Throughout the whole process, I had very clear and good communication with the owner. She agreed to a full refund. I mailed her back the keys the following morning. The last communication I received from her was to let me know she had received the keys back in the mail. Now I have tried everyday for the last 8 days to contact her but she refuses to respond. She has still not issued my refund, even though all it would take is a click on a button on her part. I am sad that it turned out this way. This is not the review that I wanted to leave, but unfortunately, the truth needs to be told.

Owner's Response: The guest fails to say that she was allowed to arrive, FREE, 2 days early and stay late the last day which is common if available. The owner had been to the condo to meet a plumber, buy a 50 gallon hot water heater, clean, and noticed a few roaches at night. Two foggers were set over 16 hours before the guest arrived. She was emailed, "when you walk in, you will find 2 foggers & suggest opening the sliding glass door, go to the grocery, pool or beach to let the rooms air out". There were 2 ceiling fans on high with air conditioning running. I would never use a fogger closer than 8-10 feet inside an entrance door, and the guest was told about both.

The owner received the condo keys one day, and the guest expected to receive a refund the next. There are no banks or post offices open on Sunday. Five days after the condo keys were received, the guest made 3 threats, to file a complaint, review and lawsuit. For a month, the owner had no AC, at her own home, and the HVAC company came that week, forcing her to be available. The other days, the owner's job ended after 5 PM or was out of state.

The fogger label states it is an exclusive dry formula; it is odorless, has no unpleasant odor, leaves no mess, residue or staining. It states the rooms can be entered in 2 hours & to open doors and windows and allow the area to air for 2 hours. Other literature suggests 30 minutes or 1 hour.

If you have questions about this condo prior to reserving online, please contact the owner. A guest needs to read the square footage and bring sheets and towels. Clearly, this guest violated the cancellation policy, and a refund can be made at the owner's discretion. Decent treatment and respect go a long way, even, for owners.

Great location, very clean and nice

The apartment was very clean, upgraded, extremely practically decorated/supplied and conveniently located very close to the beach. It met all our expectations. The only downside was the fact that the hot water had almost no pressure and was a pain to take a shower as it was barely running. The owner said that the water heater and upgrade the apartment even further. We'll most likely go back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for addressing the "elephant" in the room. Developers told original owners that the Wave Rider had been "completely remodeled or renovated". Not the plumbing or roof. The former Homeowner's Association management company and past and current Homeowner's Association board members have ignored the fact that some condos have hot water and water pressure issues. After enduring this, owners were told one common element hot water heater had been shut off, for years, and another was "on it's last leg". Who shuts off a hot water heater? And how long has the other one needed attention? Since owners were told about being without one common element hot water heater, in November 2013, I doubt it's been replaced.
Personally, this owner has contacted the City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina DHEC and has paid thousands of dollars to beach attorneys without anything being corrected. I will not give up.
If, anyone reading this, knows an attorney who will sue the developers for fraud and/or sue any past or current board members for not doing their job, I have documentation, and many of these people have deep pockets.
A month ago, I purchased a hot water heater to be placed under the kitchen and vanity sinks of my condo and will buy more if needed and will fit. Also, I will strip more wallpaper, paint walls and trim, and install white baseboards.
To compensate for what owners and guests have dealt with at the Wave Rider, I reduce my rates and let guests arrive early and stay later. Many return again. I treat guests with respect and value their opinions. The guest, who wrote this review, was exceptionally considerate and thoughtful to help the prior guest who forgot a checkbook. Yes, please return, it was my pleasure to serve you.

Myrtle Beach Vacation Rental

My 16 year old son and I just came back from staying at this property. We were very happy with our room and our renter. I did feel like the photos accurately reflected the rentals appearance and amenities. While this is an older building it was clean, close to the ocean and had everything we needed. As I said, the unit is not a new one and it is small, however, it was clean and kept in good condition.
The kitchen was very well supplied with all the equipment I needed to cook. This is the first time we have ever rented a room and not had to go buy something to cook with! We ate in our room for two meals a day and only ate out once per day saving us some money we could use elsewhere. We did take our own sheets and towels but that was fine with us for the price.
In this rental you walk up stairs to your room on the 2nd floor. I was worried about this when I booked, however, the steps were not steep and did not bother us at all. Parking was always very close and we did not have to wait for an elevator.
The pools were very clean and did not have over one or two people in them. The lazy river was my favorite and we used it almost every evening. To get to the ocean you walk down a hall and across the street. The unit is not considered as being ocean front, however, you do still have a nice view and the walk was short. I have personally walked much further when staying in larger hotels that were ocean front. I did not feel that the walk to the ocean was bad at all.
There was a Food Lion grocery store and a Big Lots just down the street from us. This saved us lots of time buying groceries and sun screen. There are also many restaurants to choose from and almost every activity you can think of with in close driving range to Myrtle Beach.
The renter of this unit was super to work with. She tried to keep the rates low for us. She also was very helpful in giving me information about the area. I thought I had lost the keys to our unit one night. I called her from my cell phone and she immediately contacted the cleaning lady to bring us another key.
Over all we had a super trip and I would strongly encourage anyone interested in this unit to book it. I hope to go back in the future.
