About Steve Shropshire

I grew up in Florida, moved to Alaska and spent 20 years in the nursery business and always dreamed of living in Hawaii. Since 2000, I have called Hawaii home and have houses on both Oahu and the Big Island. We recently purchased this property because of its uniqueness and natural beauty. I am a local farmer and business owner (for more information see; www.alohagreen.com).

Magnificent!

  • 5 of 5

That's the word, simply magnifcent! An incredible home, an incredible location and an incredible experience! Very beautiful home so close to Hilo, Tropical Botanical Gardens, Akaka Falls, Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea and many other beautiful desinations in paradise. Where else can you sit on the porch, enjoy your morning coffee and if you are there at the right time, as I was, enjoy whales frolicking just off shore.

Stunning Estate

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time during our stay. The house has tasteful decor, stunning views from every room and comfortable beds. We traveled with my in-laws, so I particularly liked that they had their own guesthouse and lanai. We saw many whales in front of the house as well.

Amazing Place!

  • 5 of 5

This is such a great escape. We had humpback whales right off the deck almost everyday. The kitchen is incredible and the entire home is immaculate. It is just a short distance down the road from Hilo but truly feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. Very private and relaxing!

A wonderful stay place to stay on the Hilo side

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for about 8 days at this modern and meticulously maintained villa and had a great time. We will certainly go back when visiting the Hilo side of the Big Island. The large kitchen is lovely and fully equipped. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The plantation-style balcony offers an expansive view of the ocean and has a lovely large table for dinner outside. The adjacent guest house is perfect for those who might cherish a little more privacy from the main group. The property sits on large piece of land perched on a cliff directly overlooking the ocean and Hilo bay. The front lawn of freshly mowed grass is simply enormous and allows for entertaining games of mid-afternoon crocket. While secluded, serene and peaceful the property is actually fairly close to Hilo and its shopping centers so everything is a short drive away. In conclusion, this is a wonderful property that is sure to delight anyone who relish a peaceful hawaiian vacation while being a very convenient base for exploring Puna, the volcano park, Mauna Kea and also Waipio valley on the north side.

Wonderful Hilo Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This private Estate was the perfect place for our Hilo stay. The property sits on a point and has amazing panoramic ocean views. The enormous fenced lot was perfect for the kids to run around and play, and there are no other houses in close proximity so it is very private. The property is about 6 minutes outside of downtown Hilo so close enough to shops and stores if you need it, but definitely a rural, peaceful vibe. The house itself was clean, modern, and has a great guest house for multi- or extended family vacationers. We definitely plan on staying here again!

Incredible house!

  • 5 of 5

As a film director, I've been blessed to have stayed at amazing houses, hotels and locations in my life. This house is truly epic and cinematic - the pictures do not relay the beauty and serenity enough. Steve is absolutely amazing as the host. Whatever the rent is, it's not enough. My wife and I had an amazing restful time here. Thank Steve!
