Overview

Green Lake House Rental Photos and Description

Quality Quaint and Clean - 1 block from Lake

Completely up to date charming and modern 1901 Greenlake Tangletown bunglow with covered porch to relax and view the garden. This is a stand-alone house- not an apartment, so no one is above or below you. Sleeps up to 4 people; 2 in the bedroom's queen bed and 2 in the full sized new pull out couch in the living room. Living room zones off as a separate space with a solid wood pocket door for privacy like a 2nd bedroom. Dimmable lighting plus floor and ceiling lighting creates the perfect atmosphere to meet your needs. Greenlake is a vibrant Seattle activity destination, loved for its 2.8 mile path around the lake. Leisurely strolling to avid exercising draws people in from the greater area, plus a public pool, boat rentals, children's play area, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, basketball courts, and its close proximity to many coffee shops and unique restaurants makes this area enjoyable for all. A Walk to the Seattle Zoo and Rose gardens is only 1.3 miles.

Suitability:

About Mike LaVigne

Original Seattleites, my wife and I live next door to the bungalow which was originally purchased by my great grand-parents in 1924. We enjoy neighborhood walks with our dog to the lake and coffee shops, gardening and traveling.

Mike LaVigne purchased this house in 1924

Why Mike LaVigne chose Green Lake

Family History! The 1909 World's Fair at the University of Washington drew my grandfather from Michigan for his first visit west and he instantly fell in love with Seattle. He returned 15 years later in 1924 to realize his dream of moving West with his wife and 2 young children - my grandfather and great-aunt. The four of them enjoyed the bungalow for four years while they built themselves a larger home next door, where my wife and I fortunately resided for the past 20 years. Needless to say, I'm sentimentally rooted to the property and all the wonderful family memories I've experienced here. We love the character of this very quiet and charming neighborhood, plus the quick central proximity to greater Seattle. I hope you'll enjoy the property as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

100+ year old established and quiet neighborhood offers close proximity to downtown, a 2 minute walk to the lake path, and a 5-10 minute walk to funky coffee shops and wide variety of restaurants and bars. Our favorite restaurants are a 5 minute walk: fine French dining at Eva's, Sushi at Kisaku, Burgers/Beer at Elysian Brewery, and hotdogs at Diggity Dog... end with coffee or tea at Zoka (oh yes, don't forget to start your day with a vegan doughnut at Mighty-O), the list goes on!

Cozy cottage, great location, wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

A flawless and delightful rental! While the owners deserve a five star review, I am reluctant to write one because I want to keep this little gem all to myself. Located on a quiet street and in a very safe neighborhood, a short walk to beautiful Green Lake, this lovely home offers a perfect stay--a short walk or drive to Tangletown for coffee (Zoka), vegan donuts (Mighty O), and dining--then another short walk or drive to the lake for a variety of restaurants (Nell's), stores, and more coffee (Peets), of course (this is Seattle!) An easy drive to most of the tourist sights in Seattle and a local bus travels downtown. The cottage is situated off the street, adjacent to the owners home, yet is very private. The yard is beautifully landscaped, with a patio and porch to sit and enjoy your coffee. The house interior is new, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen has good quality appliances and is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans--anything you need to make a meal and dine "at home". The living room and bedroom furniture are all very comfortable. Also, excellent televisions are in the kitchen, living room and bedroom and the WiFi is fast and reliable. The owner is very responsive, helpful, and an all around nice guy. My husband and I will definitely return!

This is a wonderful rental unit. Located near Greenlake in Seattle, this is a clean newer cottage which is one of the best we have ever stayed in. It is well appointed with everything you could need and the some. Mike, the owner, is friendly and will bend over backwards to make your stay a wonderful experience.

We received a most friendly welcome & greatly appreciated the flexibility we needed. The accommodations were clean and exquisite. The comfort of the bed would be our only "complaint", but it was more than adequate. The ease of the key pad lock was most helpful with the numbers of people coming and going. Would love to return during a warmer time to enjoy the inviting outdoor setup.

The second time around

  • 5 of 5

We recently completed our second stay at the cottage and continue to enjoy everything from the hip yet warm decor to the modern kitchen with state of the art appliances and accessories to the perfect location so close to Green Lake. Best pf all are the owners who are totally friendly and helpful yet unobtrusive. After two stays at this irresitible spot it feels like home and we hope to return again and again.

Charming cottage near Green Lake

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in a lot of VRBO's and this is real 5 star. It is a gem of a cottage very near Green Lake, a wonderful place for walking, boating and fishing. Michael and Daney are friendly helpful hosts. Michael skillfully renovated the cottage with modern cabinets, appliances and closets. Lush landscaping and very nice furnishings result in a well finished and very comfortable home for whatever time you are spending in Seattle. Highly recommended
