A meticulously cared for ranch home in a family neighborhood, Ramona's House is the quintessential cost conscious rental. Make your meals in a full, eat-in kitchen, or use the Weber gas grill on the brand new deck. There are 3 comfortable bedrooms; a Queen Size Master suite, a King Size, and a Full Size innerspring futon. A large living room with a formal dining alcove is the perfect gathering spot, and there is original fine art throughout the home A full laundry in the basement completes the package.
A born and bred local. Ramona is my Mother, and my father was a Lobsterman.
Larry Turner purchased this house in 1968
I grew up in this home.
It is home.
My relatives loved Ramona's House. They fit in comfortably, it was clean and had real kitchen utensils, cookware, etc. The only thing missing was the instruction sheet for how to get in on day 1 and how to leave the home on the last day. Apparently it disappeared with the previous renters.
Our week stay at Ramona’s house was really nice and pleasant. The owners take good care of the house and provide all the necessary essentials. The owner, Larry, gave us all the information and ensured that we arrived at the house safely. The kitchen is very inviting and fully stacked with pots and pans, cups, plates, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, etc. The bedding and towels are provided. Each room had a TV and cable. Free Wi-Fi was available. We enjoyed spending time in Bar Harbor. The house is located close to the lake and a drive to any other attraction in Bar Harbor. We would definitely recommend renting this house for a family vacation.
We had a lovely time staying at Ramona's in late August with 3 adults and a toddler.
The house itself was comfy with ample linens, recently remodeled bathrooms and a full kitchen. Oh, and laundry! We ate most dinners out on the deck, and thoroughly enjoyed the hammock in the very spacious back yard. We also appreciated the kid-friendly touches (kid size table and chairs, a book, a ball), though they wouldn't have gotten in the way had we been kid-free.
The street was busier than we expected, so we never chose to walk in to town with toddler in tow, but it was a very short drive to Southwest Harbor for take-out at Beal's, bread at Little Notch or dinner at Red Sky. We also did a couple of short hikes and spent an afternoon at Echo lake beach all within a 10 minute drive.
Even the drive over to Bar Harbor and Sand Beach/Otter Cliffs/Jordan Pond was shorter than expected. Despite being warned about awful traffic in Acadia, we never encountered any, and it was an easy half hour drive to the other side of the island. I'd heartily recommend Ramona's as a family-friendly home base for exploring Mount Desert Island.
We stayed at Ramona's house on third week of August. It was 2 couples with 2 boys and my mother in law-7 total.
House over all was kept very clean-deck seems like recently renovated, both bathrooms in minty and clean condition. Kitchen was stocked with all appliances and utensil that we needed.
1 King, 1 Queen bed and Futon in each bedroom. Before we arrived, Larry had asked to strip down the bedding before we leave. That made me feel really good knowing sheets is washed after every trip of guest.
House is located in South west harbor-very cute town away from hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, but close to all convenience. We drove to different part of Acadia national park, and it was only 15-20 minute ride each time.
We definitely would like to come back next summer.
There are blueberry and raspberry trees in the back yard which Larry was kind to let us pick. Also my nephews enjoyed the large hammock as well as my mother in law loved plants and flowers in the back yard.
The house was clean and very comfortable stay. The property is close to Southwest Harbor where you can shop and walk around. It is about a 20 minute walk into town. The back yard has a nice garden and is great for painting or just playing around. I would recommend the coffee shop Milagro at the corner of seal cove road and Main Street, a easy 10 minute walk. If you like to cook, the kitchen has all the utensils you need and the grill is great. If you like to ride bikes, take the seal cove fire road into the park. I definitely would recommend this property for a relaxing stay.
Just outside of the Village of Southwest Harbor, within walking distance to Acadia National Park. Almost all activities can be found within 5 miles of Ramona's House
