Tired of overcrowded freeways and the stress of everyday living? The Bear Hutt is one of the best places to sit and relax in private after a day of playing and exploring what the beautiful rivers and mountains of North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee have to offer. The Bear Hutt comes with a fully equipped kitchen, flat screen TV with satellite, DVD player, gas fireplace, WIFI, outdoor grill and a fire pit. There is plenty of room for parking and to turn your vehicle around if you are trailering your motorcycle. Just bring your food, clothes and toiletries, everything else is taken care of. You'll find that the Bear Hutt is perfect for couples and small families. The wood furniture and mirrors in the cabin were made by the well known artist, Jeff Hutt.
The Bear Hutt is private and located between Murphy and Andrews. It is accessed from a 1/2 mile well maintained gravel road which is off Highway 141.
The Bear Hutt is conveniently located near rafting sites, restaurants, horseback riding, Smokey Mountain National Park, gem mining, pottery studios, antiquing, fishing, hiking, golfing, shopping, biking, canoeing and scenic parkways and skyways. The John Campbell Folk School in Brasstown is 20 minutes away and has summer concerts and fall festivals.

We live in the Florida Keys and fell in love with western North Carolina. We travel back and forth from our conch house to the Bear Hutt as often as we can. Some say we have the best of both worlds! We hope you enjoy the Bear Hutt as much as we do and come back to visit over and over again.
Jeff & Laura Hutt purchased this cabin in 2004
The Bear Hutt is located close to whitewater rafting, horesback riding, the John Campbell Folk School, and is just a beautiful ride through the Nantahala Gorge. It is close to everything this beautiful area has to offer.
The Bear Hutt and setting is very relaxing. Our favorite activities are building fires in our firepit, hiking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, taking our motorcycle on scenic drives and just exploring all that the area has to offer.
What a great time we had at the cabin! The kitchen was fully stocked, and even included a slow cooker that I made our New Year's day collard greens in. The view was amazing and I loved sitting on the front porch every morning with my cup of hot tea. The cabin was perfect for 2 couples as we each had our own bedroom and bathroom. We utilized the fire pit after purchasing some wood from town. I only wish the pit wasn't so close to the edge of the property as it made it difficult to stand around.
There were books full of things to do around the property, and we hope to return in the spring to take advantage of some white water rafting! There are 2 towns nearby for anything you may need. We stopped at the local grocery store to stock up.
I'd definitely recommend this cabin. We felt secluded and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The Bear Hutt was a wonderful Christmas retreat for my husband, me and our dog. The view was incredible and the location was a perfect location for day trips. We loved that it was not only a perfect location but that it is also pet friendly. The owners, Jeff and Laura, were absolutely amazing to work with. The cabin is cozy, well stocked, and just the right size for a couple looking to get away.
The Bear Hutt is a perfect place to get away. The cabin is clean , comfortable and nicely furnished. We hiked around the area of the cabin a few times a day with our dogs. Activities of gem mining , Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, Helen , GA and Cherahala skyway drive kept us well entertained. We enjoyed local dining in Blue Ridge and Helen GA.
I returned to NC last weekend to celebrate my birthday by going to the John C Campbell Folk School and to explore old haunts. The owners were absolutely fantastic when coordinating with me to book the property!
The location of the Bear Hutt is centrally located for exploring a number of areas and activities including arts, hiking, dining, going out on the lake, etc. The cabin is a cozy property which is near other properties, but due to geography and landscaping feels very private. The inside of the cabin is clean and orderly with pretty much everything except food provided so one needs not pack anything but clothing and groceries. I would highly recommend staying here and plan to return myself!
Beautiful view, clean, everything worked as described. Absolutely no complaints, I would happily return. And I would recommend this cabin to anyone. Great Mexican food in the next town east on 74.
One minor annoyance and maybe it's me skewing up, but this review is the third I have posted, but for some reason they are not showing up on the web page. VRBO is like a bull dog with review reminders coming pretty frequently.
Nice, quiet place to just hang out with a "porch with a view"...... clean and cozy, and internet for those of us who must have it. Here's something unusual about any place.....the plumbing is all new and it works !... and plenty of hot water when needed ! Your blood pressure and heartrate will drop 10 points when you walk thru the front door ... hooray !! Everything needed by anyone is within 10 miles, west to the W store, Ingles and the BigBlueStore in Murphy, east to Monte Alban's Mexican Rest., and the
moviehouse in Andrews... or the Diner at the foot of Zekes trail. Enjoy this Bear's Hutt ! Thank you for sharing.
The cabin is 30 minutes to the Nantahala River and 30-45 minutes to the Ocoee River. There is horseback riding, pottery studios, boating, rafting and other water sports to enjoy, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Cherohala Skyway for scenic drives, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, the Appalachian Trail, and of course, gem mining. You are just a day trip away from Dollywood, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinberg in the Smokey Mountains.
