Cooperstown House Rental Photos and Description
Stunning 4BR! Spectacular views of Lake Otsego! Private dock w Raised Deck!
Summertime Hill is a 4 bedroom 3 bath restored historic house with spectacular views of Lake Otsego. Recently renovated and decorated in the English style with antiques and designer furniture by a well-known interior designer, it is truly one of the most beautiful and romantic accommodations in the Cooperstown area.
We are halfway up the west side of the lake, 10 miles/15 minutes from Dreams Park. The property extends to the lake, where guests can enjoy a private dock and attached platform deck with 4 chairs, 2 chaises and flowers galore. Good Housekeeping sang the glories of this wonderful house in a major feature article.
In the 4 bedrooms are 3 queen beds and one double. From all 3 queens, you can see the sun and moon rise on the lake. Among the many finely appointed amenities are central A/C with dehumidification, Jacuzzi tub, stainless appliances in the kitchen, a LaCanche stove, real china, Italian sheets, incredibly comfortable glider/rockers and beds, wireless high speed internet, and a 42” flat-screen TV with DVR/DVD/ROKU. Our Netflix provides 100's of great movies.
Surrounded by hills, Lake Otsego is by far the best lake near Cooperstown and has earned the nickname Glimmerglass, thanks to the beautiful shimmering and color changing effect produced by the deep currents in the lake – views especially breathtaking at sunrise and sunset. The water is crystal clear and pristine – perfect for swimming, fishing and boating. On a windless day, you can catch a glimpse of fish swimming around.
A few days in this bucolic setting, looking out on this truly spectacular lake will so relax, rest and energize you that you may never want to leave!

About Richard Scurry
We live in New York City but love Cooperstown so much that we come up nearly every weekend, plus a full week every now and then! I am co-founder of the Bible Literacy Project, which has a textbook - the Bible and Its Influence - now being used in academic elective Bible courses by 600 public high schools in 43 states. My wife Pam is a world-class designer whose work has appeared in over 100 feature magazine articles. Creating a country home like Summertime Hill was a life-long dream of hers, and she spent 2 full years on its renovation and interior design. It was our country home for years, until we bought a house in the Village which is better in the winters.
Richard Scurry purchased this house in 2001
Why Richard Scurry chose Cooperstown
We bought this property because we fell in love with Lake Otsego - the beauty of the hills on all sides, the shimmering surface of the water, the lack of development (much of the land around it is owned by a foundation) and then our whole family loves to waterski. We also loved the house itself - built over 100 years ago, with a solidity modern houses don't have, with windows low enough to see the lake from a chair or bed, and a wonderful warm feel to it that warms one's heart.
What makes this house unique
Spectacular views of the lake while eating on the porch or reading a book in the wicker swing or in a rocker.
You can eat in the dining room, breakfast room, on the porch, or down at the lake on the raised platform deck.
The interior is stunningly beautiful, with the interior design by my wife, Pam - a world class designer, nationally recognized for her taste in colors, fabrics, antiques, designer furniture, all of which she coordinates to bring grace, charm, warmth and beauty to the entire house.
Flowers everywhere - a garden in front of the house and in pots on the front porch and the side porth.
