The master bedroom is on the 2nd.floor and includes a full bathroom with a mahogany shower! There is a bunk room on the first floor, the 'back room' which features a Murphy bed. The full kitchen with Island (seating for 6) and the 'great room' open to the peak with an air-tight woodstove.
I grew up in Glens Falls NY, (about 40 miles away) and purchased the land when I was 20 years old. At the age of 40, I decided it was time to create a vacation home for Me, my wife, and our 2 daughters. Avid skiers and outdoors people, we contracted my wife's brother an 'old school' builder to create the perfect mountain home for our family. Over the past 13 years we have made memories in this home that none of us will ever, ever forget. Come and stay for a few days or even a few weeks and you will understand exactly what I'm talking about.
Matthew Lebowitz purchased this cabin in 1999
My fiancee and our friends decided to get away for a few days. I had always been looking for a "log cabin" upstate, but never found one that caught my eye the way this one did. The place was clean, well-maintained and just secluded enough without being too remote. We stayed in, cooked dinner and watched Halloween movies. We hiked during the day, made a fire at night, and overall had a wonderful time. Everything was accurate as Matthew explained to us prior to our arrival, and even when we had a question during checking out, he was responsive to a quick email we sent. We would GLADLY come again, and already have been talking about it for next summer. Can't wait! Thank you, Matthew & Justine for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful cabin!

The cabin is beautiful, spacious, well maintained, and well equipped. We loved it and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you, Matthew and family.
Thanks Mat for a great weekend. Adirondack mountain retreat is a really very lovely, secluded wood chalet right in the heart of the Adirondacks. There are year-round opportunities for outdoor activities, we chose to hike Gore mountain and enjoyed the trails there. We were 2 couples, one of whom had young twins (18 months). The chalet was great, with loads of charm and character, a really unique look and feel, looking right at home in the mountain woods. We enjoyed the lake and the young girls loved it a 20 minute drive away. We'd love to return with our older kids to take advantage of the absolutely outstanding white water rafting. Great skiing or downhill mountain biking and trail running possibilities at gore mountain too.
Nice full kitchen, wonderful high ceiling living room in open plan make socializing whilst preparing a meal a lot of fun.
Best of all though was communication withMat, the owner. Very simple to access the property, great suggestions from Mat as to activities and making sure the property met are needs, really important for us as young children were part of the deal. Best of all, when our deposit was not automatically refunded as our payment went through VRBO, Mat was accessible and remedied the situation very quickly.
We will return!
We needed a quick rental and this place was available and affordable so we booked it. We weren't looking for anything special but this place was way more than we expected. The interior is stunning. Every place you look there is some element of Adirondack charm - exposed log beams, beautifully crafted natural trim and a twig bannister leading up to the loft - really something to see. Its not a big place but easily accomodated our family of 5. The great room has an awesome wood stove and seems huge - was really comfortable after a long hike up Crane Mt in the snow. The back room is nicely appointed with a cool soapstone stove (propane- instant warmth) tons of windows and a comfortable Murphy bed - it became my daughters oasis. We hiked right out the back door - climbing the hill and spotting some deer and the some bear sign. I went out on the front porch with my morning coffee and spooked a 6 or 8 point buck from under the apple tree next to the fire pit. This is what you come to the mountains to see. We really liked this place, its everything you need without being over-the-top and its just minutes from Gore and North Creek. The place has decent cell phone coverage and the owners leave all the stuff you might need - boot dryer, towels, linens axes and wood, and the always under-appreciated - condiments. I always hate having to remember to bring every single ingrediant i may need for preparing meals. This place is well stocked - its nice that the owners leave those kinds of things - makes the place seem more homey.
The Central Adirondack region offers never ending recreational opportunities for people of all ages. It would be easier to list activities you can't engage in. The mountains, ponds, streams and rivers offer so much as well as the small towns, golf courses, antique shops etc. The air is always cool, and the natural surroundings are intoxicating. One has to experience it to completely understand it.
