We were looking for a retirement home for the future. Saw this property and fell for it...hard. We named it Parrot Bluff because the first evening we spent there, having and picnic and drinking Bamboo, we had many screeching parrots and toucans that joined us while we took pictures of the most beautiful sunset we'd ever seen. We are originally from the South Carolina low country where a Bluff means any raised elevation over looking the ocean. We now reside in the western North Carolina mountains where winters are very cold and are really looking forward to retiring one day to our new piece of paradise. We were really impressed with the Costa Rican eco friendly way of life and that's why we decided to build a wooden Eco Madera home which leaves a far less carbon foot print than concrete structures. We have been welcomed with open arms by all the new friends we have made, both Costa Rican and expats alike. We love sitting on the porch every evening waiting for the next sunset and being visited by howler and white face monkeys, parrots and toucans. We hope to make Costa Rica our home in a few years.
