Beautiful cottage...

If you’re looking for a super, cosy cottage, which is off the beaten track, look no further than Middle Hole Farm.

Middle Hold Farm nestles along a narrow lane, a stone’s throw out of Bridford village. I can tell you now, it’s a truly, special place. When we arrived there were fresh wildflowers in every room, and a basket of freshly laid eggs and a plate of delicious scones, clotted cream and a neighbour’s wonderful homemade strawberry jam waiting in the kitchen. I can honestly say, staying here with my Mom has been an absolute joy.

The cottage is well appointed, warm and welcoming. There are two pretty bedrooms, a twin and a double, and the beds are wonderfully comfy. In fact everything about this cottage is delightful. Jason is on hand to help with any questions and if you enjoy cooking with fresh ingredients, you’ll be in foodie heaven. We requested a veg box (extra charge of £5) and returned from a trip to Rosemoor, the RHS garden, to discover a large trug on the doorstep filled with a wonderful array of veg, dug straight from the allotment.

You won’t need binoculars to view the birds and wildlife. Ducks, small garden birds, robins, pheasants and a large jay were regular visitors to the bird tables. Situated on the edge of Dartmoor, there are numerous walks nearby if you want to get away from it all. And with wifi in the cottage, you can stay connected to the outside world, if you really want to.

Middle Hole Farm is a secret that should be shared with others, so if you enjoy exploring Devonshire countryside, love your home comforts and are looking for a very special bolt hole, this is a great place to stay.

Our stay with Jay and Stephen was lovely. They were amazing hosts, telling us about local walks and great places to eat. We were brought fresh eggs everyday. The cottage was very clean with wonderfully comfortable beds, fluffy towels and lots of attention to detail. The farm is set in the most beautiful countryside and the garden within the farm was magical. I will be recommending Middle hole Farm to anyone visiting Devon and would love to stay again in the future.

Simply The Best

Each visit has been as relaxing and friendly as the last. The welcome is warm and friendly and dogs are just as much part of the family as we are! Home grown produce basket on arrival and nothing is too much trouble. Walks right on your doorstep to a beautiful lake or into the village and a quick stop at the local pub for a bite to eat. You can sit out in the garden and watch the wildlife, or visit the nearby attractions. You can do as much, or a little as you want. The cottage is warm and inviting and has everything you need, including a dishwasher! The gardens are well kept and so beautiful whatever the season. All the cottage windows have a lovely view and the road is quite so you can hear the birds singing. Without streetlights you get amazing night sky views. We are back again soon, can't wait.

Perfection

This cottage is everything you could wish for. From the warmth of the welcome (including the basket of fresh vegetables & eggs, even towels & dog biscuits for our Lurcher) to the beautiful cottage, which was clean, extremely well equipped & so comfortable. The garden is amazing with it's pathways, hedges & ponds - there's a new part to discover on almost a daily basis.

The walks (direct form the garden) are lovely & it is all very peaceful.
Try the walk round the nearby resevoir too.

We just wanted to relax so didn't really sample much of the life beyond the cottage, but The House of Marbles & Canonteign Falls are worth a visit (info at the cottage, along with lots of other places to visit)

We've been holidaying in cottages for the last 40 years, & this is one of those rare ones, - one that we want to return to. In fact, our only reservation about recommending Middle Hole Farm is that if too many people find out how wonderful it is, we may not be able to get a booking when we want to.

Devon Heaven

If you are looking for somewhere to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life then look no further than the peace, seclusion and tranquillity of Middle Hole Farm Cottage. The accommodation is a wing attached to a 16th century thatched Devon longhouse set in 25 acres on the eastern side of Dartmoor National Park yet only about 30 minutes from the Cathedral city of Exeter. The Devon and Cornwall coastlines are all within driving distance.

A very warm welcome awaits you on arrival at Middle Hole Farm Cottage. Fresh eggs, a basket of vegetables from the vegetable patch and even fresh flowers in every room, wow!!

The cottage is immaculately presented and extremely well maintained. Nothing has been overlooked and the attention to detail is second to none! The modern kitchen is well equipped with a washer-dryer, microwave, cooker, fridge and dishwasher. The bathroom is modern and has a white bath with shower over, toilet, sink and underfloor heating. No need to bring any towels with you as there are more than enough fresh towels provided for you in the Cottage.

On a morning, sit at the dining table by the window for your breakfast and watch the abundance of garden birds flying backwards and forwards from the bird table to their nests. I could have watched them for hours and come to think of it, I did, on more than one occasion. If you are lucky, you may even see the ducks venture up from the Pond to the Farmhouse in search of food.

If you like to explore, there are some wonderful walks nearby. A bridleway runs alongside the Cottage so there is no need for a car. There are guide books and maps in the Cottage for you to browse through so take a look and plan your day ahead. Don’t forget to take your camera along as the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. If you have a dog, he will love the walks just as much as you, if not more.

For those of you who would just like to relax you are free to explore the 3 acre gardens, relax by the Summerhouse or sit in the Cottage garden and read, have a glass of wine or a relaxing snooze. A bar-b-que is provided should you wish to cook your meal outside.

Middle Hole Farm Cottage is a magical place in a devonlicious setting and I would not hesitate in recommending this beautiful, special place to anyone who appreciates the good things in life. I hope to be back again next year.
